The only thing i liked about that You tube video was the graphics for GH5 Look sharp... BUT THE SETLIST AND EVERYTHING ELSE ARE A ABSOLUTE FAILURE! IM only going to buy this to get GH:VH XD
Late Nirvana frontman to appear alongside "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Lithium" in Activision's upcoming rhythm game.
With Guitar Hero 5 arriving in stores Tuesday, Activision is making its last big publicity push for the launch. The publisher has been announcing a steady stream of stars who will appear in-game, from Johnny Cash and Carlos Santanna to Garbage's Shirley Manson and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.
Today Activision capped off that list with the announcement that Nirvana singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain will be playable in Guitar Hero 5, performing the band's breakthrough hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and a live version of another single from the album Nevermind, "Lithium."
Guitar Hero 5 will feature 85 songs pulled from a number of genres, including Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Megadeth's "Sweating Bullets," and Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower." Activision is also running a promotion for the game where players who purchase specially marked copies of Guitar Hero 5 will get the upcoming Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free.
[UPDATE] Apparently Cobain's likeness can be used to sing a wide variety of non-Nirvana songs, as this YouTube montage shows.
I agree with ricrock that right there is just the stuppidest thing iv heard in a while. Kurt cobain singin Bon Jovi. im not gonna be playin this game. rock band is just better in every way anyways. how could u put out a game without updating ur instruments. GHWT drums suck
He looks amazing in-game to be fair, BUT.... I still can't ignore the irony of making Kurt Cobain sing glam rock like Bon Jovi. Probably turned in his grave a little there :-)
i like that Gamespot has time to upload silly youtube vids but no time to post a review while all other sites have posted theirs. lol bunch of slackers i tell ya.
@buffdaddy we get your point, you hate nirvana and kurt cobain, but don't think that money brings happiness, if that is your way of thinking you're only half the man that "dumb doped out heroin addict" was, but I will agree with you that he wasn't a great musician, but i still think they kick ass lol. btw where is soundgarden at? the best band of the grunge era imo, I'll even take some audioslave, just gimme some chris cornell!!
cool they have everything down to his clothing right, he even has the fender jag-stang (which kinda sucks but its still cool), they should have had his hair dyed pink from kool-aid lol, but honestly this is the image of cobain that we remember him as, very nice, and yes i agree with toyungu, it'd be weird to see matthew bellamy singing "du hast" lol
@toyungu - Wow. (gave you a thumbs-up by the way) I also think that he should only sing Nirvana songs. It's like Taylor Swift singing an Iron Maiden song (sorry Iron Maiden)
I think Kurt Should only be on Nirvana songs. But i bet you his murderer i mean wife wont lose a night of sleep when she gets the check.
The thought of Cobain & the phrase "Guitar Hero" in the same sentence fills me with the urge to laugh & puke in my mouth at the same time. LOL Cobain.
@Rottenwood Yeah, I hear the local gangs upgraded to the top-of-the-line nerf-guns out there. You might want to wear an extra t-shirt so you don't get a small welt or anything...
@TripleHumbucker Pffft. You don't know what it's like in these rough Connecticut streets. We've got kids shoplifting candy, the occasional pothole... hell, I once had my recycling bin kicked across the street by some rowdy hoodlums. It is REAL out here, homeskillet.
As i said on my deleted comment this game SUCKS (you fanboys are over sensitive, so you know what to do!), not because of kurt, is because, is stock on the same thing over and over again, so if want to report again do it, but remember it's the same stuff i mean how many guitar hero you need to realize that this thing is getting old the concept need some fresh stuff not only the on-line, as i said look at rock band is better focus the band concept on one band. Seriously people on internet always over react and are over sensitive about everything. Free speech everyone!.
i just think that its insane that you said the foo fighters are better than nirvana. anyway whatever to each his own. i dont recall saying "LOLZ" though so if your gonna mock me do it right.
@Justforfun44 Well played. best thing for beginners is Guitar Pro(It should still be in its fifth installment with better sound qaulity for emulating the sound of guitars and basses). And itsprogram you can download for free via any kind of torrent website and you can get get both tablature and written music and learn many songs you would like to learn. Cool Edit pro is a pretty chill beginners tool for people who want to try and record some of their work as well. Pro Tools is the way to go as well.
buffdaddy69 - I agree with many of your music comments. Good luck with the music education. I am a learning guitar player which I love, and I was surprised how simple the Nirvana songs were. Just a chord or two with no real depth even for a beginner. I also don't like the relentless fatalistic tone of the lyrics. I was more than a little critical of Kurt Cobain also. He certainly had everything, but maybe in the end he was just mentally ill and he wouldn't be the first person to take this way out.
@ Rottenwood You totally forgot to qoute the part where i pointed out in you're blog how much of a trend jumper you were while mocking poeple for not being as "hip" as you, before you moved on to a new trend to ride on.
i might suck at it, but i wouldn't know since i don't care to play it or spend money on it like you suckers do. now open your wallets and bend over.
@buffdaddy69 "Oh yeah, mock the guy who will probably be teaching you're kids music in school one day, Ill be sure to take their test home and read them and laugh at their stupidity and fail them in the process while smoking a bowl." Sounds like the makings of a fine educator. Our nation's youth is in solid hands.
i think if u suck at guitar hero then you should jus say it instead of tip toeing around and saying u dont think its worth buying!
to me, rock band and guitar hero are one of those games that are cool if your friend owns it and you go to their house to play it, but i wouldn't want to pay money for either of them. i think i made a good decision in not buying any of these games.
@Miner69r did you even read any of my post? Bassist for 13 years, Guitarist for 10. You can actually check out on my band on myspace at www.myspace.com/prosperorperish
Buffdaddy make a lot of good points. a lot. he however is being a bit on the critical side. grunge was around before cobain, he just became the face of it. was his death questionable? no doubt. he's like the lead zepplin ,or metallica, or rolling stones. they weren't original. but they were faces for their genre at that time.
@ Rottenwood Oh yeah, mock the guy who will probably be teaching you're kids music in school one day, Ill be sure to take their test home and read them and laugh at their stupidity and fail them in the process while smoking a bowl. Sorry I cant be like you and say "The whole thing reminds me of my scenester days when I was in my early twenties. Our image was based around being hipper then everyone around us, knowing more about music and art and whatever else we could co-opt into our temple of arrogance. Anyone who dared enter our realm without our level of dedication was to be mocked as a poser, an outsider." as you're most recent blog states. Im not a douche bag who is self centered on his image and what other people think about him and focus my entire time on one trend while mocking other people for not being "hip", before moving on to another trend as you're blog cleary stated. Im not that guy at all. Just well informed
@buffdaddy69 Hey, congratulations on all that book learnin'. Of course, Cobain was a high school dropout, and he'll be a Hall of Famer with millions of fans and records sold, while you'll be doing sound checks for a Styx cover band. So I wouldn't put too much weight into your trade school diploma.
@ sevenlucky Well guess what? he doesnt "have me there" because thre were better grunge bands then Nirvana. Grunge offically died when Layne Staley died. If you want me to be a **** about it, Pearl Jam was actually one of the key figures in the Grunge Movement and they were constently critizised by Kurt Cobain. Pearl Jam didnt commit themselves to any musical industry practices, and at first they even refused to make actual music videos(they obviouslly have music videos now, but in the beggning of their fame they refused too) and they even boycotted Ticketmaster, a company that basically helps bands make money by selling tickets to their shows. I never seen Kurt Cobain do anything like that, If Pearl jam in the begining refused to do music videos and such, then why didnt Nirvana? Oh yeah, because Cobain was a junkie with a guitar and needed his fix.
"The fact that grunge died with Cobain is not a knock against him, but rather, the ultimate compliment." dude rottenwood nailed it with that one .. i dont thing anything u say matters anymore
