Kondo joins GDC Video Games Live
Composer of classic Nintendo game themes such as Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda to perform at live game-music concert March 9 in San Francisco.
Nintendo's classic franchises are known not only by their iconic characters, but also by their music. The themes from Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda have become engrained in gamers' heads over decades, and those who can't stop humming the simplistic-yet-catchy tunes have one person to thank--Koji Kondo.
Video Games Live, a touring concert featuring orchestras playing game music from several eras, has announced that Kondo will be performing at its event to close out the 2007 Game Developers Conference. Kondo will play one of his classic melodies at the concert.
The appearance of Kondo joins other attractions at the show, which include performances by Martin "The Video Game Pianist" Leung, a costume competition, and prize giveaways.
The closing ceremonies of GDC 2007 featuring Video Games Live will take place on March 9 at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco. For more information on the event, head over to the official Web site.
