Kojima teases weekend announcement
UPDATE: Kojima Productions to handle Japanese version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow; Kojima himself will oversee localization process; Zone of the Enders sequel pushed back.
Hideo Kojima has become quite adept at teasing his fans. The celebrated game designer has been dropping plenty of hints lately about his seemingly never-ending ideas for new projects, which may or may not include Metal Gear Solid 5, a Metal Gear Solid: Rising series, a title dealing with a certain type of taboo, an entirely new adventure game, or even Zone of Enders 3. Unfortunately, Kojima has yet to confirm or deny any or all of these projects, leaving fans with a lot of guesswork and speculation.
This could all be about to change, according to a message posted by Kojima on his official Twitter account yesterday. As translated by Japanese news site Andria Sang, Kojima said he will be making a significant announcement in the next few days, posting the following message:
"Typhoon 4. It looks like it won't have an effect on the weekend. Thank goodness! However, my health is bad. Prior to TGS, we'll have a big announcement on Saturday or Sunday, so I must recover."
A follow-up message revealed the news would not involve the widely speculated Zone of Enders 3, with Kojima saying:
"ZOE3 and so forth--it's not that big an announcement. However, I think you will be happy."
UPDATE: Hideo Kojima delivered on his promise during a live recording on the Hidechannel Radio podcast in Japan over the weekend. As translated by Japanese news site Andria Sang, Kojima announced that he will be personally overseeing the localization process of the Japanese version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which Kojima Productions will be handling. In addition, Kojima also revealed a number of Japanese voice actors from the Metal Gear Solid franchise who will appear in the game, inlcuding Akio Otsuka (Solid Snake), Fujiwara Keiji (Drebin), Yumi Kikuchi (Strangelove) and Tomokazu Sugita (Miller).
The roles that the Metal Gear Solid voice actors will play in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will not be revealed until Tokyo Game Show in September.
Answering a question from a caller during the podcast, Kojima said that while he very much wants to do the heavily-requested Zone of the Enders sequel, he has had to push back the project due to "time and staff limitations". However, all hope is not lost--Kojima ended by saying that although the project has been delayed, he has been thinking about gameplay systems for the sequel.

Ok. And please my people, leave Snake to rest. He needs it. New MGS games, only pre-MGS4 storylines. I was great pleased when I knew that Rising would be a midquel, between MGS 2 ad 4. We will see Snake on this, that's for sure, as Solid contats Raiden to rescue Olga's daughter in Area 51.
Castlevania by Kojima? sounds good to me. The easter egg possibilities could be endless..... Dracula, please respond! Dracula? DDRRAAACCUULLAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to know kojima is overlooking Lords of shadow cause as a fan of castlevania (Super castlevania 4 and symphony of the night being my two favorites) i don't want the game to turn out average like the last few 3D games for the ps2/xbox or as god awful as Castlevania 64. Anyway...If you happen to read this Kojima-san i'd like a possible remakes of snatcher and/or psychonauts for psn/xbox live with HD graphics or make new games of both titles. oh! and please Announce Zone of the Enders 3 cause as fans of the first two games every gamer has been requesting it. and as a favor to me i'd like you to produce Contra and maybe Lifeforce!!

so much for an early retirement, Mr. Kojima :P already tracking Rising here, I wouldn't mind adding ZOE 3 if he's really serious.
A Snatcher/Policenaut anthology for the PS3/XBox 360 would be a nice annoucement. Especially if they released it on XBLA and PSN for $20. I'd download that in a heartbeat. I have Snatcher, but I don't feel like dragging my Sega CD out to play it.
Metal Gear Solid Collection for PS3 please! My PS2 is dead I want to play MGS2 and MGS3 again!
MGS needs a bit of a break. Let it rest for a few years and work on something else....like ZOE3...
Well if this is Metal Gear related then I don't know if I am interested there has been a little to much Metal Gear. And I am a fan of MGS but after Peace Walker I think the story is well and truly over.
@GodsPoison I think he means that ZoE3 would be a bigger deal than this will be. He's said that he really wants to make it.

Zone of enders 3.....Not THAT BIG AN ANNOUNCEMENT!??? Kojima say WHAAT? oh and heres my guess, the new game in development is a tie in that will link Metal Gear series with the Zone of enders series and it wil feature a space agent snake working for the mars government sneaking aboard an orbital colony to investigate terrorists building Space Metal Gears! But too be true too Zone of enders they call them Orbital Frames!

Very excited for this, endless options, (mgs hd collection ps3). mgs 5. rising gameplay. ZOE3.
I'm hoping for an HD collection of the first 3 games. Or Metal Gear Solid 4 Substance or Subsistence or w/e he'll call it.
Personally I'd like the Solid series to end as it did. I felt 4 was as complete as an ending as I could ask for. Here is hoping the Rising games can be a new yet satisfying experience. I was hoping it'd be ZOE3 but I can wait.
MGS4 is the best Metal Gear ever made, I hope MGS Rising lives up to that, at least it looks awesome..... I'm kinda with everyone here, I'd like to see MGS5 and I'd like to see ZOE3, truth is I'd just like to see what Kojima San comes up with next......
Maybe he will get around to Zone of the Enders 3 after he releases Metal Gear Solid Screwdriver.
