Kojima presenting at PAX Prime

Longtime designer to discuss past, present, and future of Metal Gear series at game convention next month in Seattle.

Gamers eager to scoop up every morsel of Metal Gear information should mark their calendars for September 1. On that day at PAX Prime 2012, Hideo Kojima will participate in a PAX Prime 2012 panel of the past, present, and future of the Metal Gear series, Konami announced today.

Kojima will open up on Metal Gear next month at PAX.

The one-hour session will focus on the history of the Metal Gear franchise, which marks its 25th anniversary this year. The session will be held at 1 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington. It is open to all PAX attendees.

The next entry in the Metal Gear series is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which was recently assigned a release date of February 19, 2013. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 action game is in development at Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Mad World), and a demo for the project will be included with copies of Zone of the Enders HD Collection, another Kojima property.

In June, Kojima confirmed Metal Gear Solid 5, which will not directly tie in with the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Kojima also confirmed that Metal Gear's main character, Solid Snake, will appear in the game.

It's definitely not a slap to MY face...Although I have always loved the sneaking action of the MGS series, I have also always wished I could play as a cyborg ninja! I was so wishful I could use a player like Grey Fox, Olga, or ESPECIALLY Raiden in MGS 4. I remember watching a certain cutscene in Act 2, and WISHING I could do that kind of thing in a MGS game. After so many games with the same feel, this one will be such a breath of fresh air! And besides that, there hasn't been a good ninja game in many, many, many years, IMO. It's just perfect that I get a sweet, new, guaranteed awesome, ninja game...and it happens to be in the Metal Gear universe! Awesome! I am SO grateful for a video game like this!

I never expected Rising to be like the rest of the Metal Gear Solid games. It's more of a side story that gives you a chance to tackle the same war-like environment with a new set of skills (cyborg-ninja skills, lol). Remember Gray Fox? In MGS with the VR missions you could play with him in some missions. To few of them!! At that time I wished I could play more with him, and now I have that chance. The stealthy infiltration legacy of Metal Gear will surelly continue in MGS5, dont worry and give a chance to this game to!

This game has nothing to do with the MGS series. There will undoubtedly be an MGS5. So I dunno what your bitchin' about?

@sephirothsfan02 A slap in the face? And btw, its not "MGS Rising". If you actually kept an open mind and read about Rising, you would know Kojima himself removed "Solid" because its not stealth. Therefore, MGR (Metal Gear Rising).

How can a man, after 25 years and being nearly 50, look THE EXACT SAME AS HE DID THREE DECADES AGO?!

The MGS series ended with MGS4 for me. Anything comes after it is pure milking.

MGS will be a milk cow the day it drops it's story, stealth, and atmosphere for attracting a wider market.

Actually, might aswell call MGS4 a cash cow.

@thundercave01 He was a national hero, he was cloned as part of the Les Enfants Teerrible project in an attempt to create the ultimate super soldier. This is where Solid, Liquid, and Solidus Snake come from.

You know what I'd love to see? Hideo Kojima and Fumito Ueda collaborate on a project together. Although I'm not sure if those amazing developers would be able to actually agree on anything.

It would still probably end up awesome.

I'd love to see Solid Snake again, but I'm not quite sure what more they can do with him. I would love to see a game about The Boss and the Cobra Unit and the creation of the Philosopher's Legacy.

@glack123 Goodness, no. Playing the Boss and the Cobra unit? Why? It's so mundane and has nothing to do with the canon that ties directly to Snake. The Boss isn't even THAT cool. A good character yeah, but one to play as? Eh.

And how can you say they can't do anything with it? Why does every MGS fan say that? You people are a dissapointment, all of you.

Ever heard of Philanthropy? No, Not that fan-made movie. between MGS1 and MGS2. And what about between MGS2 and MGS4? It was never really explained what happened there.

@TohouAsura Metal Gear Rising was suppose to be the bridging gap between 2 and 4 but Kojima's team lost there bottle once Kojima left them to work on the project on their own. As for Philanthropy, I can't see that being a very interesting point to show in the plot of MGS to be worth going back to now and calling that MGS5, now that we have had MGS4 which was suppose to tie up everything anyway, if there was a game about the Philanthropy organization it should be a small side thing like the peace walker games, that plot would be rather anti climatic compared to MGS4. They could remake the old Metal Gear games that came out on the SNEZ that would be interesting but again it still would be rather anti climatic compared any of the other sequels that came out before it and its a rather cheap and easy option. Tbh there really isn't much they can do with Solid snake after MGS4 without it seeming rather cheap, but Kojima is always full of cleaver and deceitful surprises.

With 6 hours of gameplay, and 20 hours of cutscenes. I do love the Metal Gear universe that Kojima created, and I will be picking this up as soon as it comes out.
