i enjoyed my 100+ hour playthrough, but i've moved on now. i might come back to it in the future and play all the dlc, like i just did for fallout; new vegas.
Achievement listing indicates Big Huge Games' action role-playing game set to expand with additional add-on content.
The site reports there will be six new achievements worth 150 gamerscore to pick up with the future downloadable content. The tasks include killing 50 Pteryx, falling off the Idylla Concourse and dying, and defeating Kahrunk without killing any of his attendants.
It is unclear when the mystery content will be released and how much it will cost. As of press time, publisher Electronic Arts had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
The unnamed content will follow previously released Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning DLC House of Valor and The Legend of Dead Kel, the latter of which launched last week. For more on the main game, check out GameSpot's review.
@turkey39470 $10 is too much for 10 hours of content? What do you think a fair price is for 10 hours of DLC? Most retail games aren't even 10 hours long and charge a lot more than $10.
I hate DLC more than anyone where it's nickel and diming people (Capcom, please die). However, this game is fantastically well-developed, and it's incredibly content-heavy right out of the box. This is the kind of game I WANT DLC for, because they're using it the way DLC should be used - to expand an already incredible game. There's no reason not to extend the life of KoA for those fans who want more to explore, and I don't see why the studio should have to work for free - I'm more than ready to compensate them for their efforts.
As long as there's plenty of new, non-recycled, challenging-but-fair content, I'm in. It's a long, fun game. I'd certainly enjoy a handful of add'l skill points or increased level cap... But as long as it's full of content.
I'm all for it. Dead kell was great; I'll read reviews, but if they are as good $10 is nothing. I hope they expand the skill trees; I'd like to try some new spells and/or weapon swings :).
All I can say is if they want me to buy it, it better not be as high as Dead Kel. $9.99 is just too much.
Some of you need to understand the difference between the nickel and diming dlc that's cut out of games/locked (See SF x Tekken) and dlc that's made post-launch and actually ADDS to the game. The recent KoA dlc added 15% more land mass (which is huge) and a good 10 or so hours of new quests to the game. This is the kind of dlc I don't mind.
I don't mind DLC as long as its good value. Give me some substantial content for 800 points and I'm ok with that. I'd rahter see studios doing DLC than laying off staff after a games release.
Ugh im tired of people blaming game developers for early DLC! When you're working for a super company like EA you dont have any choice in the matter when it comes to what will stay and what shall be seperately sold. EA yanks content out of games that should already be in the game so that they can shovel in more money for their future gaming system. Its not Bioware or 38's fault.
I never liked DLC, Only Expansion packs, sense they expand, while DLC are small-time pricey bonuses. I am not suprised Amalur will be ridden by it. It IS published by EA. BUT, a good credit does go to BHG for successfully creating a full core game with plenty of content to go around without that DLC crap. SO good job. And don't let EA ruin you guys! It's already heartbreaking eenough to see BioWare going downhill, can't bear to see EA kill off ANOTHER studio...
all i see on these comments are "wah wah wah! there's one thing i don't like in this game, so i'm gonna gripe and moan about it!" get over yourselves, seriously. this is a great game, and all people ever do is complain. do half of you even know what gaming was like before? you feel you're entitled to anything you want? well guess what, you aren't, so shut up and enjoy what they give you, cause they could've just not given you anything
The base game easily has ~130 hours of gameplay if you play on Hard, scour every inch of every map, finish every quest, read every book/conversation, and sell/scrap every piece of gear you find. Oh, and if you don't mind the level cap about halfway through. Solid amount of content for the buck.
@mkaliaz are we playing the same game? Don't get me wrong it is a good game but 70 hours to be half way through?
I still haven't seen a patch to fix the camera FOV or a tougher difficulty. These are the 2 biggest complaints regarding the game. They have said they are working on a patch, but will not give any timeline. Im not buying the game until those 2 things are fixed, which unfortunately for BHG/38 studios will most likely be when it hits the bargain bin if they dont hurry up. I think they development time would be more profitably spent fixing the game to get people to purchase it at a higher price point now rather than trying to milk people outta $9.99
I really dont get some of the complaining here. Amalur is an amazing long game. I'm at nearly 70 hours now and I think i'm maybe only halfway through the game. Do you really feel like the game that shipped was lacking of content? Also, $10 for 10 hours of gameplay sounds like an extremely fair rate to me. I gladly bought the first one and am planning on buying this one. The only minor thing I'm irked about is that the DLC trophies got all messed up for the PS3 version and it sounds like they won't be coming. Wont stop me from buying though.
nickel and dime.. nickel and dime.. arm and leg.. arm and leg.. what happened to shooting for greatness and having options.. nickel and dime.. nickel.. and effing dime.. gas s 4.83 in the city.. and dlc is 9.99.. so if you dont have a credit card or debit and would want to get playstation card your looking on spending 30 dollars on the gas and card alone... *sigh* i miss not paying for sidequests or having to pre-order just to get them.. when games were full of depth.. and with round and flat characters..( english term for you artards out there) and by the time you purchase it your so horny for the dlc you have it beaten in a day.. i really dont wanna see console gaming go down hill though i believe it wont happen but pc modding and such why cant the consoles pull that off?? i could be speaking out of my hind parts but i know a lot of you agree with me out there.. its gone from blue collar to white collar...
@Ladiesman17 There is a difference between milking DLC and adding additional content worth something. The Legend of Deal Kel, their first DLC has been met with largely positive reviews and has a staggering amount of content (15% more landmass is added, that's huge!). Continuing the adventure of a game through DLC is something that is great for the fans, and developers as long as it's done right. And so far, BHG/38 Studious has really fulfilled upon that.
This had been confirmed almost since the release of Reckoning. It will focus upon the Kollossae Rising (Hill giants who evolve and are inherently good). It's going to be an awesome branch in for the MMO!
Are they adding a story or a character creator that doesn't look like it was made in 2001? No? Then I don't care.
Never liked DLC :evil: Publishers always milking their Consumers, why? because you let them SUCK :? enjoy the irony folks, if you pay more for DLCs, the more Companies will give you crap in the future..
Amalur is a great RPG, but they need to fix that level cap. It isn't much fun after XPs stop coming.
Now that I've finished Mass Effect 3, I'll give this a whirl. I bought it pretty much because R.A. Salvatore's name was vaguely attached. I'm a huge fan of his books, so I'm hoping his writing style is evident.
We already knew there were at least two DLC's on the way...and thanks for the spoiler warnings; oh wait, there weren't any.
