Latest iteration of Square Enix franchise to receive specially themed hardware bundle when it launches March 29 in Japan, bonus packed into first run of copies.
Fans of both the Square Enix and Disney universes were blessed with the release of Kingdom Hearts on the PlayStation 2 back in 2002, with the series now spanning eight games. Square recently announced that the ninth game in the series--Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance--will be out on March 29 in Japan.
In addition to the game, the company will release a Kingdom Hearts Edition 3DS pack, where players can buy a bundle containing the game and a 3DS with an original black design filled with recognizable icons from the series. Square Enix also stated that each first-print versions of the game will contain an AR card that unlocks a rare Dream Eater collectible upon reading it through the 3DS. The price of the bundle has yet to be announced.
Kingdom Hearts 3D focuses on protagonists Sora and Riku, and its story is set after the events of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. The game will feature the return of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep's Command Deck and a Dream Eater hunting side quest. Featured crossovers include Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Square Enix's The World Ends With You.
The North American and European version of the game will be out later in 2012.
If im gonna blow money on a 3DS and this game i might as well get this one if it comes out so please let it come out in the states
So tempting. Never cared about the 3ds. But now kingdom hearts is involved. Time to waste money. Please come out of Japan!
I love how all of you guys are complaining about not getting good accesories in America I live in Australia, we get nothing
LOL One after another Nintendo. This is how Nintendo makes sales. They rely on spoiled kids who already own a regular cosmo black 3DS or MGS 3ds or aqua blue 3ds or Zelda 3ds etc... GameStop will be full of like-new or used 3DS with every new bundle that comes out!! You crack me up Nintendo...
@FullmetalFreak7 It's going to be coming out a little bit later. Apparently KH3D is going to act as the introduction to KH3, and it will also show off some of the new features as well.
Wish the box 360 got the same love... getting a kingdom hearts game and a specially designed console.
They need to bring this stateside. The whole reason I'm getting a 3DS this year is for this game so it'll be a win-win situation for me if they did.
arrrggg.. they always get the cool stuff... wish ms would make a hand held so the us gamers wouldnt get the shaft all the time....
I wasn't gonna buy the 3DS. Now I guess I have no choice. Better come outside of Japan! Good thing I didn't buy it yet.
why why nomura did u huv to torture us by scattering KH series like tht i am hardly gna buy 3DS jst to play KH or the psp too :/ wht shall i do :(
And i got the Super Mario 3d Land bundle... ughh... now I just feel lame Nonetheless still pumped for Dream Drop Distance
Everytime anything KH is announced, cue lots of people whining about KH3 not coming out/not being on the PS3 and more people whining about the handheld games all being spin-offs. NEWSFLASH! If you don't play the handheld games, then you aren't going to understand what KH3 is about anyway, as the handheld games aren't spin offs at all, they are canonical parts of the story, which all link together. If you love the KH series so much, buy the games and just borrow the consoles you don't have from a friend. Quit whining everytime, it's exhausting people.
I would so import this if the 3DS wasn't region locked. And we're not gonna get this in NA either. So lame--We never get the good stuf.
i was wondering everybody wants KH3 on the PS3, but has anybody put any thought into making the disney levels life like? i mean the disney levels are based on cartoons how are they going to project that in PS3 graphics? i think it works better on consoles like the DS im not saying i wouldn't love a new game on the PS3 i would love it more than anything else especially with an KH HD i think it would be GREAT AND AMAZING and SIMPLY WONDERFUL that i'd do anything to see KH3 reach PS3 and especially an HD version it's just when think of the complications which is probably why they haven't started production they're unsure how to tackle such a project... that's my opinion
Wish they wouldn't spread the KH series across every single platform imaginable... Have been put off or missed out on several of them because of this. Probably will miss on this one as well, because I have no intention of getting a 3DS for just one game.
This should be released in the U.S. on the same day considering most of the game includes Disney characters and Disney is an American company. It's silly not to release this in America as well around the same time.
Screw all these handheld Kingdom Heart games.Where is the true next generation Kingdom Hearts game at?! Square Enix we want to play Kingdom Hearts on our PS3s and 360s!
Why cant you do KH3 and a HD collection already im feb up all this side storys . and i bet pp do as well.
Why must we get everything like 3-6 months later? The Vita, most games, accessories.... it's freaking annoying!
As popular as this series is I am baffled that it is never released across all markets at the same time.
I'll still wait until they release a 3DS that has two toggles. I'm not spending $169 on one just to have them turn around and come out with a two toggle model for the same price. I am seriously not interested in that clunky add on to get the functionality just because Nintendo made an oversight in getting up-to-date with the rest of the 21st century.
@NJGIANTSNY They need to build up hype. I still know people who don't know about this game. Game companies release information about games long before it comes out so that it can spread.
I don't understand why they can't just get these games out faster then this or do world wide releases we are in 2012 .
This is why I wanted hold fire on buying a 3DS. If this gets a UK release on a special edition I'd be buying one
