I hate to say it but this is probably the best party game ever. I love theis joint and hope the kinect goes further.
Following year-end NPD figures, Microsoft proclaims platinum status for pair of Xbox 360 motion-sensing add-on titles.
Yesterday, the NPD Group delivered its anticipated December and year-end US retail sales report, and while it reflected its fair share of industry downs, there were also a few wins. Most notably, Microsoft continues to enjoy success with the Xbox 360's new camera-based motion-sensing add-on Kinect, which helped to lift accessory sales 10 percent to $853.2 million. According to Microsoft, two of Kinect's key software titles also performed well in December.
In a post to his Twitter feed today, chief of staff for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business Aaron Greenberg announced that the publisher's internally developed Kinect Sports as well as Harmonix's Dance Central both sold more than 1 million units last month.
Neither title surfaced in NPD's top-10 chart following their shared November 4 debut, in part due to their status as Kinect launch titles. However, with Kinect now occupying some 3 million homes in the US, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, the software titles had a better shot in December. According to NPD, the titles would have been among the top 10 best-selling SKUs in December, but did not make the multiplatform overall sales chart, which the stat-tracking organization reports.
All I shall say is this, Project draco, Star Wars Kinect and Haunt will make the Kinect worthwhile. Draco being made by the team behind Panzer Dragoon should give people a hint as to why I am slightly excited. They've paved the way for a big user base now they just need to kick the games into high gear
I did get kinect although there is no game that makes me go wow it picks up movement well and you can put spin on the balls. It's not about whats out now but what will come out in the future just look at what the 360 is producing today in quality games than what was coming out 5 years ago it's down to the developers all it takes is one great idea and it changes everything
Well you can look at this two ways one that because it's sold well they are going to make more wii style games or that the fact kinect has sold so many units all we need is a developer to push the boat out make something really decent something that combines the pad and kinect give kinect time and i'm sure there will be some cracking games remember the 360 release games what rating would they get today Perfect dark zero anyone.
but am afraid this can only lead to bad news, yes its means way too casual wii type games are now profitable on the x360 so we should expect more of them and less of Alan Wake/Limbo/Metro 2033 which didnt sell this fast
whoa thats insane, mind you there are some AAA tittles that takes ages to reach 1 mil, am looking at you ps3
I like games with a different twists to them. Just having buttons/shooters/etc. all the time gets boring; it's fun to mix it up a bit. Kinect is looking successful right now.
I have 3 titles for Kinect, Kinect Sports,Kinect Adventures(pack in title), and Dance Central. Dance Central is the only one I haven't played yet, simply because I haven't had the courage to do so, after watching my son play it. Kinect Sports is my favorite and those games will wear you out, especially volley ball, or track and field. It reminded me of how out of shape I am, and how I wish I wouldn't have put hardwood floors in, and kept carpet. My feet have been taking a pounding!
Well, with the exception of Guitar Hero, ive never played (or been interested in) Rhythm games, but having watched my GF and kids constantly playing DC, i just had to give in to my curiosities. I am actually very impressed at how accurate the motion tracking works, this makes for a real fun and entertaining experience, and you cant cheat (e.g. simply sit on the sofa waving a device around). It is without a doubt the best dance rhythm game bar none, nothing can come close to the full body experience imo. simply because it requires a full body experience.
@KBFloYd, wii sports came with the wii. its sales doesnt count. only place it didnt come with a wii is japan. because nintendo knew they would buy a demo in droves..
What do you expect when those are the only two games worth anything on the Kinect. I will wait till next year when the kinect is on sale in the bargain bin..
Got both of them, had a blast with friends at a party the other night... I think the girls liked Dance Central better. Got a PS3 too, but prefer Kinect to Move... Not having controllers is great for some games
