Journey arrives March 13

Im so envious of PS owners right now! Looks like an amazing game!

Wait, what's that? I still can't invite my friends or talk to them? I guess my circle is still skipping this one then. Such a shame that they force you to be forever alone.

Bought my PSNetwork card in advance for Journey yesterday. I'm all set and waiting with baited breath.

@Evilbunz Uncharted just seems like a different take on Tomb Raider to me. Killzone is just another tired, played-out military fps as far as I care. Same with Resistance. I never did like car combat so Twisted Metal is out for me. LBP, God of War, and Valkyria Chronicles I have on my PSP. As to MGS4 and Infamous: okay, you got me there. I'd want those, too. It really all came down to which console my friends played on. And since they all had 360s, that's what I went with.

@Mariner32 really not uncharted? killzone? mgs4? lbp? god of war? resistance? twisted metal? infamous? valkyria..... really you want a ps3 for only flower and journey. I played the demo and journey is good but its very repetitive because there isn't much to do in the game. Amazing demo either way

*Sigh* This and Flower are two of the main reasons I regret putting in with Microsoft this gen...

I'm excited to play this game. Can't wait for release.

@DeFiLeDTitan I played the beta when it was available and in a sense it's a platformer stripped down to its bare essentials. There's no monsters to slay. No weapons. No leveling up. No competition (even though it's a multiplayer). It's basically all about traversing the terrain. It's quite elegant in it's simplicity really. As far as any kind of end goal, I'm not really sure what it is or that it's all that important. This game is about (forgive the unintentional pun) the journey, not the destination.

I still have yet to figure out what this is. You just walk around the desert? For some reason, this reminds me of the chase the dragon video game from south park

@Rottenwood: Come to think of it, I've never even played a COD or a Battlefield or Halo or Assassin's Creed etc. And no, it's not embarrassingly naive to say what I've said. The limits imposed upon themselves includes contracts with shady publisher such as EA, Activision, WB, Ubisoft, Scamcom etc. If the devs don't agree with the limitations, they shouldn't sign a contract with them and go indy. It's that simple. I bought Alan Wake and unknowingly funded Remedy's watered-down run&gun spin-off arcade game American Nightmare. I bought Stacking at full price to later find out that the Lost Hobo King chapter was cut from the game to make a quick buck afterwards. I bought SkyDrift only to find out later that three planes and a complete multiplayer mode + maps were held back for ransom with 108kb unlock keys. I bought Limbo and the full game is only playable with my account, it only shows a trial version with other accounts on my bloody console. That's the ugliness of digital; you don't know what you're (not) buying. Sure, physical copies have unlock keys as well but those can at least be cracked if you have the know-how. Actually, that's the ugliness of the industry today. Whether it's physical or digital; we're getting screwed either way. Which is why physical past-gen releases are far superior than what we've got today. With physical past-gen you actually get what you paid for, nothing more and nothing less. Alright, let's agree to disagree and move on. Enjoy Journey, I'm sure it's a wonderful game but I'm willing to be very late to the party.

@SpookyJack Narrow-minded? It's a very real-world, practical argument. You really think Activision would put up $15 million for a game like Flower or Journey? LIMBO? Most games that go through the brick-and-mortar AAA process are VERY constrained by business reality - go play the latest Assassin's Creed game and you can see the fingers of the suits in every corner, from the assembly-line delivery schedules to ingrained publisher DRM programs. There's a science the big developers use which knows all of the psychological hooks that get people to play their games - unlockables, trackable progression, etc. - that has more to do with the games you play than whatever the creative guru suggested. With all due respect, the line "a developer's creative freedom is only constrained by the limits he imposes upon himself!" is embarrassingly naive. You better believe that the suits and checkwriters have a choke-chain around those creators and they WILL yank when they feel like it. Compare that to the upcoming Double Fine game, funded by we the people. That's the beauty of digital.

@SpookyJack That's fine. But to get back to the original point, I wouldn't miss out on this generation's vast wealth of great DLC games just because there's not a collectable object tied with them. You could make a very valid argument that digital games are in fact superior to physical releases these days, since those titles aren't beholden to the overly sequelized, watered-down philosophies of the megapublishers. A digital developer has a creative freedom that really shows in their work.

@Rottenwood: As is your privilege. I guess it just boils down to what kind of gamer you are. I'm a collector. All consoles I mentioned were bought on launch (except for the N64) and are very well taken care of and their software libraries are a bit more important to me than they are to you.

@SpookyJack Fair enough. I played all of the good stuff on those when they were new, though. And I don't really miss any of it. I don't need physical totems for all of the media I've consumed.

@Rottenwood: Here's a surprise for you, sir - The following consoles are played on a daily basis here: ps1, ps2, N64, saturn, dreamcast, gamecube. ;)

Its games like this that make me wish I had a PS3. Really looks like something special.

You now, nowadays, hard to find a game that you play it without kill something, destroy something, get point or money from something. Flowers is difference, just enjoy the moment while playing. I hope this will happen on Journey again.

Can't wait, hope it gets the appreciation it deserves. Even if it ends up not being as great as I hope it will be they deserve credit for trying something as poetic as this.

I thought Flower was badass... its nice to see companies trying to step out of the BOX and do something different. The world doesnt need another friggin Call of Duty .... I bought flower.. and will certainly get this as well. Keep up the Creative Force guys.

I'll probably get it at some point, it looks good but I'm getting Tales of Graces f on March 13 and that will keep me busy for a while

@worlock77: Oh, I assume it will be available through other means of distribution at some point in time. It's the exact reason why I won't be buying a digital copy, yes. And I spend less than 15? when I go out to eat; I'm a vegetarian. Anyways, enjoy the game. In the meantime I'll be saving up for physical copies of games that I will want to play ten years from now. Cheerio!

@Rottenwood, The indie digital titles have been awesome. When the big games let me down, the XBLA/PSN/Steam titles are always there to pick me up. Going to start Dear Esther soon.

@SpookyJack Which operates under the assumption that the game won't be available otherwise at that point, and that I will still care. And really, $10-15 is a near trivial amount of money. You'll spend more than that going out to eat (unless you only ever go to McDonald's to order off the dollar menu) or at the movie theater. $15 for at least a few hours of entertainment? I can live with that, even if I might not have it 10 years from now.

This has been on my list for ages. Day 1 purchase for sure.

@worlock77: Your current level of optimism will stand in marked contrast when SEN is no more and your account and/or digital copy of Journey has been corrupted. That bit of plastic won't seem like such a trivial thing after all.

I liked Flower a lot more than I thought I would - looking forward to this one. The AAA titles this generation have been really hit-or-miss, but the smaller digital titles have been a pleasant surprise.

Agreed with some peeps below -- I would absolutely buy this (and Flower) if it was ported to 360.
