I find it interesting how people say the ipad is overpriced, when it is cheaper than any of the decent competitors to date.
Apple sends out quasi-cryptic invite teasing likely reveal of its next gaming-friendly tablet.
Next Wednesday, the Game Developers Conference will be in full swing, with a keynote address by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata kicking off the event's biggest day. However, not far away, Apple will be convening the technology press for what will likely be the unveiling of a new iPad.
The less-than-subtle invite, obtained by tech blog Engadget, shows a large number "2" underneath a small "March" being peeled away from what appears to be an iPad. At the bottom, a line reads "Come see what 2011 will be the year of." The date appears to confirm earlier reports on the Wall Street Journal's All Things D blog, which predicted a March 2 unveiling of the device.
No details are yet known about the new iPad. However, the Journal cited analysts who expect that the tablet will be thinner than the original iPad, with a front-facing camera and Facetime video chat support. The financial daily also said it will have an improved display that's powered by a Qualcomm chip that allows it to run on both GSM and CDMA networks. Other than the display, no details about possible gaming improvements were mentioned.
To date, Apple has sold nearly 15 million iPads worldwide, moving 7.33 million in the October-December quarter alone. The company's App Store, which sells programs--including many games--for the iPad and iPhones, marked its 10 billionth download last month.
The iPad is not an end all be all device. For me I have no computer room. I have a bulky laptop. I still use the laptop when I have to. But if I am sitting on my couch watching tv I can do everything I need in the palm(got big palms;) of my hand. I do not have a iPhone or iPod touch. But I have played iPod games on my iPad and after playing iOS games on the big screen there is no way I could ever play on a phone style screen. Try it. Then compare iPod to iPad. That's like saying. My 50" plasma is just my portable pocket tv after a buffet. Not a good argument. Granted yes. They are just bigger versions of each other, but if that was such a grounded argument everyone would still have a 16" black and white. Why buy a ps3 it's just a upgraded version of my Sega game gear....right. All this stuff is just interactive electronics. Chose what you want to play with. If you can afford it cool. I don't think any of this stuff deserves loyalist zeal. No need to bring emotions into the equation. Take things for what they are not who you think they will make you.
I love my iPad. To all those below talking about huge battery life, let me tell you this; my iPad is always on the charger, yes if you leave the iPad in stand by and maybe use it to play a song or read a book or do light work you can get 10 hours plus. But if you are like me and use the iPad with wifi enabled to browse the web,YouTube,or play high quality games, and run memory hogging art studio apps, then you can really see the battery drop fast. I can get below 50% from a full charge in about 3-4 hours using memory heavy apps. So it is not some wonder battery it is all variable to what you are asking the iPad to do. I never owned a new age apple device or anything touch screen before my iPad. I bought it in December as a x mas gift for myself. I spend more time on my iPad than I ever did on my laptop. The ease of use and slim design means I am on it anywhere everywhere and all times. It has become a part of me that I never thought could have ever happened. I was a big anti iPad/apple guy but after buying my iPad I will never go without one again. The thing that kills me is that I spend $700 to buy the thing, case, screen protectors, ect. Then in two months the newer version is out. I guess that's to be expected in this age of technology. I do hope that now that the iPad 2 will have camera support they will find a way for us loyal "1" users to hook up a web cam via camera connect kit. But I doubt that. Doesn't seem that it would be hard for the iOS to recognize thru camera kit if it already is going to be looking for a camera. Bottom line is I wish I had the ability to buy the "2" but I could never regret owning my "1". Peace
@mr_pink88: Lmao. iPad is okay but not THAT great. @luna_chanful: The only thing that crApple has going for it is battery life. Customizability, variety, choice of CARRIER, cost range, etc., are all swept by Android. Sorry :)
@luna_chanfui Your exactly right, but there's no point arguing that here because people will just thumbs you down for saying something pro-apple.
I'm not the Apple fan boy but I just want to ask don't you see the Android's gadgets life are terribly shorter than Apple's?? There's so many Android phones and Tablets released WITHIN A YEAR. HTC Desire, Desire HD, Aria, Galaxy S, Droid bla bla.. Argue with me if you think that's wrong. or you are just a stubborn Android fanboy..
Apple sends out quasi-cryptic invite teasing likely reveal of its next gaming-friendly tablet. Gaming-friendly? It's more for businessmen rather than for gamers.
@eze_sl89 since when did owning an apple device make u 'rich'. If u think that then the first thing u need to do is put your head in a bucket of water and drown yourself. You're that pathetic.
@Wish01 You SMASHED the nail right on the head there mate! People... just buy a laptop... it cost the same but the performance is sooo much better!
Apple's idea of innovation I pad 2 - add web cam I pad 3 - add USB port I pad 4 - add Flash support I pad 5 - higher resolution screen, faster processor, 250gb hard drive, thinner, lighter with all the above. Tricks to make dumb rich fanboys dump their old one buy a new one every year to increase profits and stock value. It might take 5 years and 5 generations wait for the I pad to come close to the specs of a netbook!
An Ipad 2 already? I kinda like the idea of technology a tablet computer. But not enough to actually buy one. Good for Apple on 10 billion downloads.
Seriously... i dont care about apple iPad, why would i want a slab with a touch screen? my iPod is perfect!
Apple makes reliable products, but they are usually overpriced compared to the same type of products on retail shelves. Even though Apple products have great quality most of the time, they aren't always better then the compeitition. I think Apple does a good job in making people think this. The only Apple product I currently own is the IPod. It's the old, old version with the black and grey text. lol!! No color or touch screen. It's like 2GB of memory. The thing is, it still works and the battery still last 3-4hrs which is just enough time when I'm on a plane. Will I upgrade? Eventually. My wife got the 16GB Color Ipod from me for X-Mas.
ill consider an apple product when they stop taking others ideas, slapping them into their products, then calling it revolutionary. What is one thing Apple has done first? Not the first touchscreen, not the first smartphone, not the first for video chatting, not the first for multitasking, not the first for NFC chips, etc. But ask any Apple fanboi and they will start spouting the list above. Apple's marketing dept is top notch, they can get a member of PETA to eat a hamburger. They constantly get the average consumer to think that its worth emptying their bank account for an overpriced outdated product. Anyone who tries to say that Winmo7 stole features from Apple I guess forgets Windows has had a mobile OS for many many years now that just was terrible, but still had features. I'm glad to see Android is slowly dismantling Apple's smartphone and tablet empire. Honeycomb is going to "revolutionize" tablets and leave Apple in the dust. I do realize Apple's simple OS is better for some people as its more simple, but I'm tired of seeing people buying their products as a status symbol.
Apple have a habit of releasing numerous versions of its products, each with fairly insignificant additions or tweaks. The possibility of a second iPad is a continuation of this. Perhaps this is Apple's way of fixing incomplete products?
Wow I know activisions has some skills in milking people..But never ever EVER in my life have i ever seen Apple done this. They've been always reliable, Well maybe except their PC's for gaming but still!
I love how people just hate SUCCESSFUL companies. Apple in my opinion is brilliant. Yes their quick turn around of products could be spaced out a bit more, but stop and think of how fast tech changes. Most companies are just trying to play catchup. Many that bash Apple products haven't even tried them so their rants are pointless, but for the few that have tried them and hate them so be it. You can't beat the majority that have used them and love them and will never got back. Look it's simple, people want a solid, well made, reliable, easy to use product. It's not rocket science. Apple has hit it on the nail with "most" of their products whether you like it or not.
And this is one of the reasons I didn't buy the IPad. lol!! Before the IPad launched I warned people to stay away and wait. Apple is notorious for releasing new models of their products within a years time. Yo and behold, Apple is already giving us a new IPad. lol!! I'm not even going to waste my time on this one either. The only one I want is IPad 4. By then, everything that's needed will be on it. True, you can sell your old IPad for cheap and get the new one, but why upgrade ever year. It's ridiculous.
@eze_sl89 ive got "the money" too, doesnt mean im stupid enough to buy the same useless crap over and over again
This'll turn out just like COD and Madden. Apple will release a newer piece of hardware every year and people will start to catch on.
I have a lot of respect for Apple's marketing department. They're constantly releasing outdated, underperforming, overpriced products yet convince a lot of people with more money than sense to rush out and buy day one. Bravo, Apple.
Lmao, I cannot believe people pay for this garbage. The price is obscene just like any Apple product, the functionality is minimal just like any Apple product, the restriction is extreme just like any Apple product. This thing doesn't even do flash and they expect you to pay almost £700 for it? Lmao.
I have had an iPad since the day they first came out. I can't remember the last time I went a day without using it. My laptop is gathering dust. I just got a Verizon iPhone and to be honest after using it I'd never endorse another crappy android product again and before you bash me I have worked on just about every androd phone verizon has offered because I work in IT so this is not a biased opinion. So Apple needs to keep on working the magic that they are working.
Everyone acting like apple copies all the other brands technology but the fact is that these companies are rushing to copy apple. No one cared about touchscreen phones before the iPhone, the only one i can think of off hand is palm and where are they now? No one had a tablet like the iPad 1 year ago, and now samsung and blackberry are rushing to catch up. Look at Windows 7, they copied many of the features that macs had had for quite awhile before that. The fact is that you can say you hate apple and there useless, but there still on the forefront of consumer technology. I'd love to see someone else tell me different.
Why would anyone support a company which shafts you by making your purchased hardware obsolete within a year?
Ipad isn't useless....I do a ton of investing, business on the go, email, ect...and its great. Seems like there is a ton of bitterness from people posting...as far as the rich people comment...anything that can't be found in a dollar store i guess is rich people stuff.
Since when is the iPad for "rich" people? $500 for one isn't a bad price at all. It beats the pants off of any netbook on the market. @UxoriousLimited... I think Apple should just go ahead and allow Flash on their portables. They can still push for HTML5 all they want, but this will please the masses at the same time. Flash has been used for so long now, I don't really see it going away anytime soon.
I've never used one, but I won't let that stop me from jumping on the stupid and overpriced bandwagon!
I love the iphone but think the ipad is just a pointless oversized version of it. would buy a laptop over it anyday
