@jhpeter and to all who don't know a **** about the iPad you can use Flash (games, videos even ads !) just use iSwifter (there's a free version)? (and no I don't have an iPad but I know what I talk about).

@ersten The ipad has apps which cannot be used on a PS3. It can be a book reader, it has 3G, it has got a camera and it is used by many businessmen and some schools use it. And of course it has ITunes.

Sounds like the Have and Have-Nots. Ordered mine, 3-4 weeks out from the apple store. Guess will see it some time next month. That's fine with me, as I skipped the 1st gen and been waiting for this version, another month won't matter.

so did ANYONE on gamespot get one of these things? I have some rich customers that have Ipads sometimes, but I can't afford much Apple stuff (other than an Ipod)

@coaltango The iPad 2 has been tested to be able to take 10+ hours of heavy use on its 3G network...in case you were wondering, thats pretty damn good my friend

The iPad is pretty cool I gotta say, but the iPad 2 isn't as big of a difference as Apple said it was. Its still pretty pro though. But the iPad has got to be the most underpowered tablet pc on the market. Apple says its to conserve battery life but HP has the HP slate 500 that runs windows 7 professional, has flash support and adobe and plenty of things that eat up the battery life but still has 8 hours of battery. And on top of that its got 64gb built in, usb ports, SD card slot, an HDMI port that comes with it(you dont have to buy it separatelly), 3G, a front and back camera, much better specs than the iPad 2, and all the features of windows 7, all for $500. Clearly Apple isn't really being fair because when you compare products, the iPad 2 should be going for $350.

God I cant stand Apple. I will admit straight up I am a PC lover through and through. I never understood how the Gov't could go after MS for being a monopoly when their software made it possible for thousands of hardware developers to make components work together. Specially when I saw Apple and the way they operate. Their software only working with their hardware seemed like a clear monopoly too me. Aside from that, I don't understand the facination with apple. Their products are way over priced and they are inferior to PC products that are built properly. Admittedly I build my own machines and have the skills and knowledge to service my laptops, phones, Desktops.... But I would never spend the kind of money Apple demands for their products. And buying one of their products also means you have no control over anything with the purchased device. Anything that needs to be looked at must be taken care of through an Apple vendor otherwise you void the warentee... its nutz. But people buy the products up like cookies so.. what are ya gonna do... Uhhh.... Apple is satan... good day.... LOL

@coaltango ... have you ever used an apple product? iPhones battery life isn't the best, but its stupid when people compare it to a normal phone which they don't use hardly as much. Macbooks have excellent battery life as do iPods...

I can't wait to get mine when it comes to Australia.

seriously? $830 for a 64GB model? It's not even worth it as you could barely store anything on it.

What is the point of this thing?? I can't really think of a situation where an iPad would be necessary...I mean it seems like most of its functions are already incorporated into phones.

Why is this non-gaming machine on a game website? Sure it can play games, but so can T-89 Calculators. and 500-830 + angry birds doesn't add up well compared to PS3+dozens of amazing games, or Wii + dozens of great games, or 360 + Halo Reach!

Apple really has to be praised for its audacity. It seems that you can't buy an iProduct nowadays without it being made obsolete a few months down the line.

I personaly love apple, and there products! yes they can have problems but there 9/10; solid pieces of kit. I love my ipad and use it for a range of tasks. just stop hating on a company that is obviously taking over the world, and surport them........over wise they will kill you when applecare goes live..... the ipad looks awesome... ive been eyeing them up for a while now but i just dont know what i use it for. People who i know who own one say that the product is screaming for a usb port... and this doesnt have one? WHY? my consoles, my camera, hell even my digital photoframe at least have a USB Port!

Sure their games are cheap, but compare those cheap ass games to our console games and you will find that their games are shallow and don't last very long. While console games have more content and last longer than about a hr.

@Gothic-360: Like I said before, no Apple device will be "out of date" within a month. They have a predictable yearly release cycle that prevents anyone from getting burned by not knowing that a new release was imminent. Secondly, consoles *do* have longer life cycles, but they're not multifunction devices. They typically do one thing very well (play games). And most of the investment isn't in the console; it's in the games themselves. So over that six-year cycle, we've probably still spent well over $1,000 to keep your habit going. (I shudder to think how much I've spent on games over the past six years.) My point basically is that I can't worry every time a new piece of electronics shows up. Does my PS3 get less valuable to me because there's a new slim model? Does my XBOX 360 stop working because there's a shiny new one available? Oh no...Nintendo just released a red Wii! I mean, where does it stop? Just play your games and stop hating on folks for buying whatever they buy. PS -- @Gothic-360: I voted your comment "up" not because I agree with it completely, but because you actually made sense and didn't resort to calling me names. ;-)
