Infogrames confirms that it will release Treasure's latest arcade shooter in Europe later this year.

Following yesterday's 2909624announcement that Ikaruga will be released in North America, Infogrames has today confirmed that the game will also get a European release--currently scheduled for April.

"There is a growing fan base for Ikaruga since its release in Japan and Infogrames has recognized that the hard-core gamers have been waiting for this arcade-style version to be released for a console," said Pascale Vermeerbergen, European marketing director at Infogrames. "Ikaruga has some of the best graphics ever featured in a shoot-'em-up action game and we are convinced that this title will be as huge in Europe as it has been in Japan."

Ikaruga is an innovative top-down shooter in which players assume the role of a pilot named Shinra who is the sole survivor of a freedom federation that was massacred by an evil conqueror named Tenro Horai.
