this wont be anything like Borderlands lol. This is id software we are talking about. this will be some sick and twisted hardcore sht. cant wait. lol.
Postapocalyptic first-person shooter's release date pushed back to increasingly packed October 4, will now launch against Dark Souls, Twisted Metal, and The Darkness II.
Fans of id Software have been waiting seven years for Rage, the first original intellectual property for consoles from the developer since 1996's Quake. They'll need to wait a little bit longer, as id has pushed the game back from its previously announced September 13 release date, and it will now arrive in stores on October 4.
While the delay may give the developers more time to work on the game, it also puts the open-world first-person shooter up against some stiff competition. Among the games currently slated for release on the same day are Dark Souls, Twisted Metal, NBA 2K12, and The Darkness II.
Rage is set on a postapocalyptic Earth in the midst of recovering from an asteroid collision, where humans have emerged from underground "arks" much like the vaults in the Fallout games. Players assume the role of a survivor who has emerged from an ark and has been subsequently outfitted with an array of performance-enhancing nanotechnology and some powerful ranged weaponry. It is based on the id Tech 5 engine, the latest development toolset crafted by the company's chief technical officer, John Carmack.

bethesda........why you brought me fallout and oblivion i needed something to fill in the gap between the new elder scrolls....now i have to wait......:(
This game looks epic, and I really want to play it. Just a pity that I'll have to wait another 12 years to play it. Anyone else feel that way?
i am anxiously waiting for this game as its a IDs game and john carmack behind it, but i dont know why i have a really bad feeling coming for this game.
%$%#! I just might go broke this october! Twisted metal, Dark Souls, BF3, Rage, Ratchet and Clank? Craziness
do people not realize this game was way into developement before boarderlands lol.. Rage looks to be a much more serious SP game. Boarderlands was just a silly coop game with a stupid story and just so happend to take place in a post apoc world.. lol might as well say FO3 looks like boarderlands too.
@zeebenzene Lol looking at your amount of thumbs, I think you and I are the only ones who got that joke. :P
I think this is a good idea what with all the game company hacking.Whats the point in it going out with the chance of more people's accounts being compromised?
Waiting seven years for Rage? They trying to compete with Duke for longest game in production award?
Bethesda has been releasing flop after flop of crappy games lately. Although I would love another great game to play, I just can't have hope for this game.
I think rage will be one of the best games released for 2011 I just hope it does'nt get cancelled like true crime hong kong I was really looking forward to playing that game then it got cancelled
This game looks sweet.....But is just me or does it seem like when Bethesda releases a game it doesn't develop they seem to be absolute garbage.
this is a perfect reason to get gamefly..October and November are the perfect months this year to have gamefly
I guess i get Disgaea 4 and Dead Island in September.... =p White Knight Chronciles 2 in August and October i get Dark Souls, Rage and Battelfield 3 and in november Elder Scroll V
Well, i was definitely planning on getting in on sep 13th, (my birthday)... guess it's gonna have to wait till next year, now.
Having bought a few games on the same day... it is a total waste. Two ways that plays out. 1- if one of the games sucks, and you don't finish it, then it was a waste of money. 2- If the game is great, like Mass Effect, or CofD 4, or even good like Fallout, or Dead space, or Borderlands... it's going to be a month or two or three before finishing, playing online, getting to prestige again... and by that time, you could have picked up the 'other' games on eBay for half price. I have done this a few times, and now try not to. But the reason all this stuff comes out in November is Christmas. Even if I have promised myself not to buy 3 80hour commitments at the same time, when asked what I want for a present, I say video game. Thus -- We need a graph of dollars of revenue per week or month to show us all why the release calendar in November is packed. As is typical, the answer is: Money. For me, the real question is -- am I going to spend the holiday season leveling up on MW3, or Battlefield 3? Being old -- I don't have time for both.
This is starting to look like Duke Nukem forever. If you read the interview you can tell Carmack has been really frustrated by all the delays. I just hope it lives up to its potential. As far as the competition, I don't know that that'll be a factor--none of the games mentioned are direct competitors to Rage (i.e. Dark Souls and NBA 2K12) .
sure it gives them more time on the game, but dog gone it I am in a game lapse here, I need a new game. I have played to death the ones I have. 11.11.11 is the ultimate date for me, but I felt I could drag rage out till then, Now i feel I will be rushing the darn thing.
They should release Rage the end of July or early August since there are no other worthy games worth getting between Duke and Gears. I'm getting Gears 3 in September, BF3 and Twisted Metal in October. Maybe MW3 and Skyrim in November if I have any money left. I don't think I'm gonna have enough time or funds around then to even blink an eye at Rage. What a poor release date decision.
Well if twisted metal is anything like the first 2 games it's a sell..Thank god i have money saved up so if both TM and Rage are great games i will grab both of em.Darkness 2 isn't something i will get the first one was meh so i am not sure about this one.Dark souls looks awesome but i know if its too hard i will just move on.11.1.11 can't wait for it..
All these game developers need to realise they are really oversaturating the market with too many good games in the october/november period (especially November, holy crap) and need to spread this stuff out. I want a lot of the games coming out in October/November, and to be honest i'll only be buying 3 of them at best, and not even because of money constraints, i'll just have no time to play absolutely every single title that has got my interest.
Why do they release all the the great games at the same season??? BF3, Skyrim, AC:Revelations, Dark Souls, Now Rage.. Where am i gonna get the money from??
@WarGrad bordelands was the single best on line co-op game EVER made. They are two compleltly games.
"Fans of id Software have been waiting seven years for Rage, the first original intellectual property for consoles from the developer since 1996's Quake." Consoles, what? Get the f+ck out of here. It's like the PC gaming platform doesn't even register with people anymore. This faux pas is particularly irksome since it's reasonable to assume there's way more interest for RAGE amongst PC gamers (not to mention id's legacy on PC).
@payne6705 I also love id's work, I've also been spectacle about this one. I seems to have he same art design in the trailer as borderlands game uses. From what I've read/ heard, it's going to knockout.
