HMV launches Metroid Prime: Hunters competition
A chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Seattle for the ultimate UK Hunter.
Nintendo UK and HMV have announced a competition for UK players of Metroid Prime: Hunters, with the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Seattle to meet the game's developers.
In order to enter the Hunt Is On Tournament you'll need to visit one of four HMV stores around the UK on Saturday, May 20--Birmingham (High St), London (Oxford St), Edinburgh (Princes St), or Manchester (Market St).
The tournament begins with practice from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., local heats from 1 p.m.-4 p.m., and the final (with video link provided by BT Openzone) at some point after 4 p.m. The winner will be flown to the US at a later date, while runners-up will receive HMV vouchers.
i would av gone in the tournament but my ds lite isnt good for going diagonal in mp:h the d pad needs so much presure on it i guess nintendo should of waited a bit longer to get the lite perfect
I suck at the game anyway....
So who won? :o
i don't live in the uk. why can't they bring it to the u.s.? anyways..... i'm a one star in metroid.
I went, I was let down. To make it 'fair' everybody had to play as Samus and in the same arena, combat hall, hardly a good representation of the game, and all the matches ended up with everybody going into morph ball mode and just rolling around like mad dropping bombs. Trying to find out where it was wasn't easy either, I went to the store I asked where it was and the guy suggested I went to a place 2 minutes down the road, even though it was in the store about 10 feet away. It was my first time to a event like this, and it's put me off going, some of the people I played before the tournament were really good but like my ended up going out in the first few rounds. Wether it was down to pure blind luck or skill I'm unsure, my bet is on luck though. That's only the London branch, I hope it went smoother elsewhere.
I got to the finals and lost. :(
ironickly, i live in seattle
*um isnt the makers NSTC ? thats Nintendo America, fools!! a visit to Nintendo !! yeesh* Why are you so worked up about going to nintendo? They have like 50 buildings throughout the US. The seattle one is where they get all the media though, so the winner should bring a bag for all the schwag.
Uhh...it isn't really that great here. Meeting the people who developed it'd be pretty cool though.
Oh well
Sweet.
I'm umm-ing and ahh-ing whether I should go or not. It's only down the road, and it might be fun. Then again, I suck at the game (left-handed, see) and would probably get my arse handed to me by a pre-pubescent scamp. QUANDRY!
Why are all you Americans complaining, "Its too small a country", "You know... they would probably get a much better response if it was in the U.S. ", "you have to be in the u.k?... that sucks", "A tournament in the UK? Ouch...Why not a huge tournament here in North America? They could make it national, public, famous, and official-looking." What the hell is wrong with all of you Americans?! You get everything, We get one thing and you complain. What right do you have to complain about the U.K? What did we do to you?
WOO HOO GO U.K.!!!
About time the UK got something
Wow! This looks awesome! But I can't get to Edinburgh, maybe if it was up in Inverness too... (30 minutes from me).
Dammit, London's the nearest place to me, and it's too far to go on my own. And too short notice. And I just don't like London in general. Too big and confusing. WHY, NINTENDO, WHY?!?!
"Lucky Europeans..." You mean lucky ppl that live in UK?
I'm already in Seattle, so ya lucky Europeans...
In Europe? Oh well, I wouldn't do well even if it was here
um isnt the makers NSTC ? thats Nintendo America, fools!! a visit to Nintendo !! yeesh.
Good thing it's only in europe. I would have owned all. bwaHHAAHHAH. j/k. I too suck at Hunters.
booo why would someone want to meet a bunch of nerds the game isn't that good to begin with, and if they offered money it might actually be worth the time.
You know... they would probably get a much better response if it was in the U.S.
why only in Europe
i don't think its such an amazing prize
fricken lucky europeans....
So if I live in Seattle, go to UK, and win. Did I really win... :P
"an all-expenses-paid trip to Seattle to meet the game's developers." Wow that should be reaaalllly fun.. NOT.
awww... so you have to be in the UK? that sucks....
Damn! that would be nine : /
y can't they organize an around the world wi-fi tournament????
yes finally something good i can join but i don't have MPH only the demo lol
I'll be there.....although at 27 i might just be the oldest one there....think I can snap a few styluses to edge it my way? or clingfilm peoples touchscreens
Yey we actually get some vague kind of promotion!!!!!!!!!!!! w00t. I wonder if London will be busy.
"One problem though, i suck at Metroid Hunters." Hah, yeah right. I don't think the HMV staff is ready for the torrent of expletives I'd actually let fly on such as occasion. "Jump @#$%&*#@%@#&, JUUUMP!"
"why the hell cant they do it in ireland as well!!!>?????" well, irland (except northen irland) isn't part of the UK
first of all Japan gets everything first to do with gaming than we get it next lol
why the hell cant they do it in ireland as well!!!>?????
Stupid Americans, they get everything to do with gaming, then when we get something FOR ONCE they complain.
Pretty sweet.
Stop moaning americans, you get loads of stuff like this, we get this stuff once in a blue moon!
Quote: "HyperMetaDragon A tournament in the UK? Ouch...Why not a huge tournament here in North America? They could make it national, public, famous, and official-looking. " You mean just because its being held in the UK it won't be famous, public or official looking? You sir are a complete arse, go back to your Bucket of fried chicken, cheap porn and Counter Strike Lan Parties. Stop thinking everything has to be done in America to be official. You ignorrant prat.
damn i wish in was in the UK.coolest idea ever.
lol not lucky europeans......... this is england only :(
why not hmv in glasgow endiburgh is like an 1 hour drive from my house
oh well i cant win a tournament anyway
Thats a cool idea. Ive never heard of a DS tournament.
Eh. Wish this was for the US, but the UK is a small country, area-wise. It would be a lot easier to do there than here.
lol I've tried to participate in the one in montreal, but I had to be 18 yrs old :( . Dam my 17 yrs, are they ever going to finish ?
