Hitman devs go solo with Reto-Moto
Denmark-based studio that begat IO Interactive reforms to focus on "innovative online entertainment software."
Denmark-based game developer Reto-Moto is more than a decade old, but the studio has yet to produce a single game. That's because the company's first order of business was to form IO Interactive as a joint venture with Nordisk Film. Reto-Moto was back-burnered as IO took off on the strength of games like Hitman and Freedom Fighters, and it was eventually acquired by Eidos.
Now Reto-Moto is reforming, its founders having left their positions in IO Interactive and returning to their original project. Hitman: Blood Money executive producer Neil Donnell will oversee operations as the CEO of Reto-Moto, while Hitman 2 lead designer Jacob Andersen is also on board.
"The entertainment industry has evolved significantly in the last 10 years and this new company is designed and constructed to take advantage of the opportunities in the current and future marketplace," the group said on its Web site.
Reto-Moto has yet to announce its first project, though the studio described itself as "an entertainment software and technology company specializing in the creation of innovative online entertainment software."
According to the site, Reto-Moto has no job vacancies at the moment, but will be looking to bring on more employees shortly.
we want to see hitman 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for all of those asking for freedom fighters 2, yes i agree the first one was a great game, unfortunately, freedom fighters 2 became kane and lynch which is a buggy mess. and yes, hitman 5 please
I would love to see a Hitman 5.
only played blood money but it was amazing. if one came out for nex gen consoles only it would be amazing.
im prayin that theyll make hitman 5....theres a lot they could do with that game
ok are we ever going to hear anything about freedom fighters 2 1 was one of my favorite ps2 games so something about this would be sweet
Freedom Fighters was one of my top games for the PS2, I hope more info comes in soon about Freedom Fighters 2 (like how it will hopefully be for consoles as well?).
MatrixtheNEO...hitman does have slo mo, just shoot in the air, stand still, absord some bullets, then enjoy your slo mo.
FREEDOM FIGHTERS WUZ MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME,IF ITS MADE THE MULTIPLAYER WILL DEFINITLY OWN.
THEY NEED TO MAKE THAT FREEDOM FIGHTERS 2, PART ONE WAS OFF THE HOOK,ESPECIALLY THE MULTIPLAYER MODE, ME AND A FRIEND PLAYED THAT GAME ALL DAY SENDING SOILDERS TO THERE DEATH AND FIGHTING AT THE SAME TIME WUZ FUN,IMAGINE PART 2,STORY MODE WOULD BE TIGHT BUT THE MULTIPLAYER WOULD BE A HIT, I WOULD DEFINITLY PLAY THAT ALL DAY.
are these guys gonna make hitman 5?
They need a new engine. Also they should make the "traps" less linear. Have a lot more destructible environments and leave it entirely to the players imagination to decide how to sue the. Also they could make greater close combat controls to make killing your targets a little more of a challenge if they spot you. Maybe add some hand to hand combat. They had some in the last game, disarming and punching etc, but it felt a little slow and awkward. I don't think that they should be thinking about multiplayer though. Hitman is a single player game. Multiplayer would take attention away from the story. If I'm honest though, right now I'd rather see a new Freedom Fighters game.
IF I HAD MONEY , I WOULD USE THOSE PEOPLE TO MAKE ANOTHER HITMAN GAME
Mercenaries 2 failed. Alright IO, where FF2?
they should add some effects like slowmotion and stuff like that + they should make it online like other hitmans pay u for killing others that would be sweet.
I am a huge fun of Hitman series, I always liked its ideas concening the gameplay, the story is awesome, HOWEVER I hope this one will not have the same "cosmetic problems" (unrealistic movement, walking through walls etc). We 've being waiting since Hitman 2 that these problems would be fixed. I thing it's about time...I would also like to see in the new game bullet-time not only when the character dies. This will give another taste to the gameplay for those who wonna replay the game as "mass-murderers" after they finish it as "silent assassins".
cant wait for hitman5, hope it comes out.i think there will be one cause in the end of blood money he doesnt die
a new hitman would be great, I was unable to understand the alternate ending.
What? how many damn hitman games are there? I mean, I like hitman, its an awesome game. But what the heck happened to Freedom fighters 2? God damn. These guys could be making lots of money off a sequel. Well, there is still one good sequel to look forward to by a different company, lucas arts: Mercenaries 2. Can't wait for that!
i wish they release it i love it and ive been playing hitman blood money for 1 year
a new hitman game would be sweet.
i really need hitman
yeah im ready for a new hitman game.
hope they release a new hitman game soon
oh por dios!
[Nomad0404 WROTE: I'm with theNexus on this - it's most likely these guys will have to start afresh with new IPs as Eidos will own Hitman and Freedom Fighters.] 1) Actually EA, published their Freedom Fighters game, not Eidos 2) According to their description, they are a development studio more than anything else, thus, any potential great published could partner with them (Eidos included) 3) If the the Eidos dudes are smart, they can do like MSFT did with Bungie, by keeping solid ties and even let them work on Hitman 6--I think the current IO is working on Hitman 5.
According to that description, I can't really make much of it. Good for them.

Man what ever happen to Freedom Fighters2!? I played the 1st FF and was waitng so long for FF2, and see that the game was called off. I just hope Freedom Fighters 2 comes out and has online play.
Coool! Both producers from Hitman 2 and 4? Great! they were both great games! Hope they can make a even better game now :)
Hopefully the game will change for once.
now we just need a new hitman and freedom fighters, especially the latter, the first freedom fighters rocked
Freedom fighters 2 is on my wish-list
If IO Interactive Created Hitman games and has the rights to them and bought by Eidos then they have the rights. IF Reto-Moto is formed from Hitman developers but this article does not say they have the rights to make Hitman games so anyone here thinking they will could be wrong as Hitman would come through Eidos.
@werc92 I meant between Eidos and Gamespot over the review, not over the game. I wasn't very clear there. Have you played it?
A new Hitman game would be great!! Especially if it has coop play, splitscreen and tons of new features.
Lets hope there will be a new Hitman game. Online or offline doesn't matter as long as it's top notch quality as the other games. "Blood Money" still rocks! =)
This studio could be better than one would think.
this company is shyt, people, go do a search on them
Hopefully they will co-produce and devlop Hitman with Eidos.
sooo what happens to hitman?
New Hitman or FF would be nice! Plus I do think a co-op online Hitman-style game would work.
IO had to can Freedom fighters 2 when they got bought buy edios since EA owend the rights to FF. so the best case scenario is that they formed the new studio to make a deal with EA and do FF2. the time is defenedly right, FF2 on 360 with full online multiplayer would be super awsome
About freedom fighters 2?
I miss Hitman ... I was all ready for a twist to come in a new Hitman game. However, if its the same guys behind some new "innovative online" game, I'm even more excited to see what they make!
I just want my Freedom Fighters 2, continue with the game and lets see how good they can move the story forward, the original Freedom Fighters was great, even though my game kept loading sporadically during the cut scenes even after cleaning the lens.
well...they cant do such a projects like hitman or freedom fighters!! because IO still their and himan as a name is a trade mark for them... and since Jacob Andersen left IO you dont want a new hitman beleive me
the next project wont be hitman or freedom fighters.... its LEGACY OF KHAIN and am HID positive :P
ah crap. I hope Hitman 5 still will be a good game. **** I just love the series!!
Introducing: Hitwoman. I've said too much.
