Helm's Deep map added to Left 4 Dead 2 servers

Valve adds user-created Lord of the Rings-themed mod to official servers for zombie shooter.
The Lord of the Rings and Left 4 Dead franchises have come together in an official way. Valve announced this week that the popular user-created Helm's Deep Reborn map has been added to the official Left 4 Dead 2 servers.
Players can visit the mod's workshop page and click "subscribe" to download and install the campaign.
Helm's Deep Reborn puts players into the boots of defenders of Rohan fortress Helm's Deep from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Hordes of undead attack players, and they must push the zombies back to defend the stronghold until Gandalf's arrival.
Valve also announced it is continuing to work on the Extended Mutation System in the Left 4 Dead 2 beta, allowing modders to tinker with new gameplay ideas. An example provided was a mod that allows gamers to play Left 4 Dead 1 inside of Left 4 Dead 2. Valve said it is working with content creators to add new features before the tool is released in full.

This better be by the same guy who made the map for Killing Floor because it's almost exactly the same.
1 Like @Tribesmaster The map has been around for a long time, just now it is supported by Valve.
Why is this news worthy? L4D2 always has custom maps available for a while. And this isn't "official", you still have to DL the map yourself to play it. This might be worthy of a new article if it was actually part of an expansion or update, not one of their average custom map options we see all the time.

its absolutely AMAZING :D one of the greatest survival maps in L4D2 ^^ takes 30-32 minutes to complete.. because there's an actual ending ! :P just takes alot of effort and teamwork to get there
It's a shame that l4d 1 is actually the better of the 2 games. Bit aside from that, I'll have this map first chance 1 can. This is why I play pc games. I have almost 30 levels for l4d 1, and most are user made.
What happened to the God dam snow dlc that was supposed to arrive on xbox a while ago? And at least give us some indications of L4D 3, you can take your fan made pc only crap and shove it.
They are over 500 custom maps for left 4 dead. Do you really think Microsoft is going to let Valve just offer these as FREE downloads via XBL the same way they can over the PC? You are delusional.

Ummm.....can;'t you already play Left 4 Dead 1 on Left 4 Dead 2? I mean...they did release all of the L4D1 maps and Characters on L4D2 so.....
That video was fun to watch but painful too.
Very old map but glad to see some new changes, might have to play it again.
My last time solo(i killed all my AI teammates before starting) was 7 minutes.Lots of fire was used.
Stealing isn't anything new in PC gaming. I mean its userbase pirates those games to hell and back.
@jorge69696 @Mr_BillGates And if you pirate it you can't play via Steam (as far as I know), so what would be the point? The whole point of games like L4D2 is the community that you play with. Plus since you're not ripped off (if you choose when to buy) it encourages people to pay. That's why Steam is encouraging so many indie games and developers - because they know that (whilst I'm sure it's not perfect) it gets their games out to a market willing to pay for decent content.

Royalties for the base game, maybe. The potential is definitely there for someone to purchase the game now because of this mod and it's official endorsement. Although, everything but the music and the mod's title is arguably not infringing on anything, and the latter two can be solved easily with a licensing agreement.
that map looks sweet.. although somehow looks a bit smaller than what I remember helm's deep to look like.

I want to know what rockstar has to say of all this, thats one of the 3 devs companys that i care of.
Think Im going to reinstall this game. I always wished they added achievements for completing scenarios on survival mode :( anyway Helms deep looks amazing.
Tomorrow the headline will be -Valve sued for using Helm's Deep in their game.
Looks like a fun map though.
@Danyawesomsauce Get a job and buy one? Oh wait, you are a kid. Ask one for christmas or something. You can get a nice pc for $500.
