Microsoft speeding up sci-fi shooter franchise's Xbox Live community-content service; Mona Lisa motion comic due April 23.
Halo Waypoint has had a presence on Xbox Live since the end of 2009, and the community-content service will soon be getting an upgrade. Today, Microsoft and 343 Industries announced a number of new features that will be available beginning April 15 in Halo: Waypoint, as well as a service overhaul designed to streamline and speed up the online hub.
Headlining the update will be a new motion-comic series, titled The Mona Lisa, due April 23. Based on the Halo Evolutions short story collection, The Mona Lisa is set shortly after the original Halo: Combat Evolved. It tells the story of the starship UNSC Red Horse, which was sent to explore the remnants of the destroyed Halo artifact, encountering along the way a marooned prison ship, the Mona Lisa. Convenant conflict ensues.
As for tweaks to the Halo: Waypoint hub itself, Microsoft will be fully incorporating Halo: Reach achievements, stats, and play history. This update includes a new "compare with friends" feature, which lets gamers line up their stats against those of others. Additionally, players can now launch the Games on Demand version of Reach directly from Waypoint.
New Avatar items are also coming as part of the Halo: Waypoint update. Gamers will be able to pick up a new collection of Spartan helmets, Red vs. Blue Avatar wear, and a Flood infection costume beginning April 14.
halo way-point is just basicly like all the rest of em cause no matter what character you are it's still fun to play no matter what.
i sold black ops but still kept halo reach...got 40 bucks for black ops 6 months after release, pretty pumped about that
I gave up on Halo after Halo 3: ODST. Bought Reach, saw it was basically exactly the same as H3 and sold it. Didn't even complete the campaign.
I think Reach is great, but I don't really care too much about Halo Waypoint. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it just doesn't interest me very much.
@lilflex1 huh...thats cool, i actually didn't know you could use it for that...i will have to try going back on it sometime
It's good that they're updating Waypoint. So far I haven't found it usefull in any ways, shape or form.I look forward to the new features :D
I don't like how poorly designed Big Team Battle maps are. Vehicles are no fun now and you rarely get to use them. I don't use Waypoint because I don't see the point; however, Team Classic is what I have been waiting for, so I'm happy now. It's not quite the same, but Halo 2 style gameplay using Reach's rules is proving to be as much fun as I hoped. I'm still eagerly waiting the Halo: CE remake at the end of the year.
@Drakkengoth They DO need to change the pistol though. I love CE more than any of the other Halo games, but the pistol beat every weapon at every range except for the shotgun up close. The single player shoudl be unmarred, but multi needs balance, by a long shot
Waypoint is a great tool that needs to be implemented in other games to search and lookup stats of game play. It's a great social tool to get more out of the Halo franchise. I enjoy reaching certain achievements and get encouraged to play more by being given bonus material at a certain rank or amount of unlocked achievements. 343 has done a great job filling in the gap so far and don't except anything less in the future.
Sweet, new avatar awards......sorry, i just really like avatar awards. Beats having to pay for the stuff.
I must say i expected a bit more for reach, but its still an awesome game, with so many things to do... I hope 343 next halo game, whatever it is, is as good as any of bungie's work on the series... Also hope they care for the community as much as bungie did...
So many Halo fanboys here. Every bad comment has thumbs down, and every positive comment has thumbs up. Halo isn't a bad series, it just got milked.
reach had better match making halo 3 had better custom games and halo wars should not be in waypoint
I agree with Drakkengoth. Reach was a disappointment. I played Halo 3 for the better part of a year. Reach got boring after 1 month of on-line play. Sadly I just think the gameplay is a little dated now.
please make the remake amazing, u can do that by not changing a single thing about it. Reach was the biggest disappointment of 2010, story, level design, multiplayer... a real shame they screwed it up.
That hub is cool for the mythos. It has short articles about the games and novels' events. Other than that, I can't remember the last time I checked it.
Nice, I really like Halo Waypoint; easy to see all of my Halo gamerscore. New avatar awards! That's great, the only thing i have now is some stupid helmet (wihthout suit you see).
Glad to see they're finally adding this to Waypoint. This probably means Bungie.Net is all but done with Halo Reach stats.
I still love Halo as far as story goes. I don't play a lot of MP but It is A LOT of fun every once and a while with some friends.
