Three new small-to-medium sized maps coming to Halo 4 on February 25.
Halo 4's Majestic Map Pack will release on February 25, Microsoft has announced.
The pack will include three new small-to-medium sized maps--Landfill, Monolith and Skyline--developed by longtime Halo mapmakers Certain Affinity.
"Landfall’s emphasis is on infantry battles amidst a glittering ocean and a city under siege on a distant world. Monolith is an open battlefield; a Forerunner monument that exposes you to the naked vacuum of space – and the firepower of opposing teams. Skyline puts you in the air on a new construction site, and its distinctly industrial surroundings and sky-high locale provides new challenges in confined spaces," wrote the Halo Waypoint blog.
Alongside the maps comes two Majestic DLC playlists--eight player FFA DLC and four-versus-four Team DLC--and a free-for-all gametype called Infinity Rumble, which combines lengthier respawn times with an increased focus on ordnance, allowing special medals, assists and style kills to contribute to your ordnance.
The Majestic Map Pack DLC will cost 800 Microsoft points, and is included with the War Games Map Pass or Limited Edition copies of Halo 4. It is the second of the three map packs coming to Halo 4.
Halo 4 was awarded a respectable 9.0 in its GameSpot review last year. "A thrilling, moving story and intense competitive multiplayer help Halo 4 continue the series' reign as one of the premier shooter franchises," said reviewer Chris Watters at the time.

perhaps i'm easy to please, but i found Halo 4 an awesome game. I think it kept with the traditional gameplay and improved on previous Halos. I can't fault it. I give it 77/78
halo4 is a great game but not without it's flaws. Bring back firefight! Get rid of the perks from COD and release a few of the best classic maps.
more maps, fancier graphics, deeper story, who cares...HALO did the monstrous mistake of removing ROCKET RACE long ago, the most fun and fast paced co op game ever, pretty much the only reason I played HALO, back then when that "CO OP" actually did existed and I was able to play with my mates in the same living room... sad.
@danielcliment Rocket Race could easily be added back in if/when they add a multi-team playlist.
And Rocket Race isn't a co-op game, it's a multiplayer game mode. Split screen =/= co-op.
Damn, Halo used to be my favorite game. The main reason i bought an Xbox 360 was for Halo 3. Then this game came out..... ugh. R.I.P Halo
If there's one major complaint I have about Halo 4, it's the map selection. 343i just doesn't seem to have the same level of map-making talent that Bungie had. Halo 4 has a decent selection of large maps, but who really wants to play on Exile over and over and over and over? (that's the only large map that players vote for)
What I really want is a medium-sized map in the style of Halo 2's Zanzibar, or Halo 3's High Ground, or Reach's Powerhouse. You know, a sloped map that opens up with a beach or cliff on one end and a series of buildings on the other end.
Abandon sort of has the type of layout I'm talking about but it's too small and claustrophobic to play like any of the maps I listed.
@Spartan_418 Well let's spam the forums (the Halo ones) for this, if we ask for it, in the next map pack they will add some.
@Spartan_418 I mostly agree. I am sick to death of Ragnarok, I'm Rank 40 and there's maps that I've played on TWO times. It's ridiculous. It's like Sword Base all over again. It's a major reason why I can't stick with Halo 4's multiplayer... there's enough maps but I only ever play on 2 or 3 of them. I'd rather voting not even be there and the game randomly picks a map for us.
@higherflyerJ Agreed. I wish they had just brought back Halo 3's veto system, since it forced variety into the map and game mode selection.
For whatever reason, the majority of Halo 4 players seem content playing on Exile and Haven 90% of the time.
I have to agree. While I welcome some more small maps, the creativity in map design just isn't quite there anymore. I wasn't overly impressed with the maps in Reach, but it seems like the best maps they can come out with nowadays are remakes.
Everything seems so symmetrical and boring now.
I am almost ready to buy my copy of Halo 4. By April the entire game will have been released and I can play at my own rate. That and another price drop, there is no way I'll pay $25 for maps that should have been included in the game.
When the total package costs less than $60, I'll buy, but not until then.
@gatsbythepig yea you are complaining about 25$ when CoD DLC is over 50$ give me a break. You will be waiting a long time

@Suikogaiden I'd say it's actually underrated by the majority of players, who dismiss it as a CoD clone- which it's not.

@Suikogaiden I'm sorry, where are you getting a 5 hour story from? Easy? Enjoy CoD's flashy 20 minute single player mode then a couple hours or so of MP to notice that you've had the game for many. many years already...
CoD is a disc DLC every year and people keep buying into their half-ass games. They put 12% effort into their games and the rest goes into what their going to call the next one.
Well I think it's time to dust off my Halo 4 once this new Map is out in February 25 and I get this map free anyway.
I don't understand why some of you dimwitted gamers, mostly casuals, would buy crap like this. I mean, $10 for 3 maps? Really, people? Really? Paying that much for a map pack is just idiotic. I'd never buy a map pack for that much money. Call me greedy all you want people, I actually like to save my money and buy better things, not wasting it on crap like this. Just saying.
@MisterWWEfan Leave us to spend our 10$ how we want and go buy yourself some john cena action figures then.
Ok, what else would you like everyone to do? We want to be just like you. Tell us more! MORE MORE, Fagodamus!
God forbid people actually LIKE the game and play it often, making the ~$3.00 per map asking price pretty nominal.
The story is compelling haven't played the story mode again though ever since i beat a week after the game was out. it is sorta hard for me to play the campaign again..in agreeing that the lack of excitement just wasn't there in halo 4
Even if the multiplayer was really good I don't feel compelled to play it anymore. It lacks that special something that makes you want to play it in the long run.
@DarckArchon The map pack names are based around the names of Fireteams in Spartan Ops. The first one was called Crimson because that's the name of the player squad. This one is called Majestic because it's the name of the Fireteam featured in the CGI videos. The third one is called Castle because that's another fireteam that's mentioned often in Spartan Ops.
