Halo 3 Media Launch

Like the helmet. I'll get it on ebay when its a bargin, if its a bargin that is.

Cool looking console, not worth the price though for a paint job.

Last night, GameSpot AU attended the Halo 3 media launch put on by Microsoft at Sydney's Fox Studios. Sitting on the desk to greet us right at the front door was a replica Master Chief helmet--otherwise known as the helmet gamers get when they buy Halo 3's Legendary Edition. Sadly the hole in it is to small to fit your head into--your cat maybe, but definitly not a person.

The Fox Studios Directors' Suite quickly filled up with various journalists and game writers who were eagerly awaiting the chance to get their paws on Halo 3. Sadly we had to wait until after the presentation by Bungie writing lead Frank O'Connor and multiplayer lead Lars Bakken to play Halo 3.

Though we weren't allowed to film or take any photos during the presentation, we did managed to take a few snaps of the special edition Halo 3 Xbox 360 afterwards. Details of when the Halo 3 Xbox 360 will be making it down under can be found here .

This is the logo that can be found on top side (if laying it horizontal) of the Xbox 360. Pretty snazzy ey?

The Halo 3 logo is also printed in metallic orange on the top of the hard drive--covering up the word "HDD"--which is usually present.

Whilst we were setting up all our video gear, Frank O'Connor squeezed in a few more minutes of gameplay before starting the media interviews for the night.

After the interview we left the theatre and got our hands on both Halo 3 co-op and some new multiplayer maps. Here's a picture of our very own Randolph Ramsay giving one of the Halo 3 new multiplayer maps a go, Randolph's extensive preview can be found here.

There were more than 10 demo units set up around the suite, each with a line of people fighting it out to try Halo 3. If you look carefully at one of the screens in this pic you'll see the Brute Chopper in action. One theory floating around was that the front wheels were lawn mower blades--this was backed up by the fact that it kicked blades of grass clippings from behind the wheel.

After Lars Bakken and Frank O'Connor had something to eat they came out to play some multiplayer with those who stuck around and posed for this cool picture of them and the special edition Halo 3 Xbox 360.
