Halo 3 launch breaks Australian sales records

Silly people. Do you know why they are comparing Halo to movies? Because movies are the only entertainment releases that have the $$$ to compare with Halo. How many games release do you know make more money than a movie release? Stop hating and go get your bib ya babies.^_^ Halo=FTW

you know whats funny? When I was a kid (loongg time ago) I used to argue on the school bus which is better....Atari or Intellivision. Then it was Atari 5200 Vs. Colecovision. Then Sega Master system Vs. Ninteno Nes..yada yada. Why? Because I was a kid and could only afford one system. You always hate on what you can't have. Lets face it, most of the trolls are younger people that cant afford two or three systems. Now that I'm older, I bought all 3 systems and a kick ass PC. And of the four, I like my xbox 360 the best. Halo 3 broke all previous American entertainment sales records by trouncing both Spider-Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' opening weekend cinema earnings by posting A$195 million ($170 million) in just the first day of sale.

Pretty impressive considering Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is still two movies away from a cinematic release.

Still, congrats to their success. Well deserved. The game is undeniably awesome.

HAHAHA i laugh at the peeps that say Bioshock is betta than Halo. Halo isnt the best game of all time but Bioshock... pls bioshock for the 360 was stuffed so full it doesnt even run as smooth as it should be.. i mean look at the physics when the splicers die, and the flying gattling guns, it wasnt optimized enough for the 360 imho. halo runs a lot smoother, vissuals in Halo is better i think coz of the wide environment, bioshock has corridors with textures popping out all over the place... :( i havent tried bioshock PC though.. but i think my 8800 gts 640 will juz eat it for breakfast. if the ragdoll physics and textures are the same in the 360 and PC i would say Bioshock wasnt optimized at all....

also I'm tired of people criticizing games saying they aren't innovative!! for peace sake innovation comes with necessity and isn't compulsary. over the existence of video games theres been hundreds of fps games and there have been aspects deemed good and aspects deemed bad.Halo 3 has made near perfect game play by putting the best from the past. and thats perfectly fine!

And yes I played it in hi-res though unfortunately that didn't save it from being a $h1tload of F*(k. It had sloppy textures that in some cases wouldn't have looked out of place on the ps2, and often the game just ended up feeling rushed and boarderline broken, sure there are bits of excellent gameplay where you are in a warzone with dozens of allies and enemies fighting around you, but all too often gameplay degenerates into a corridor crawler. "Bioshock used art more than polishing, while halo 3 has outstanding visuals and looks very real." Lol visuals so outstanding they can't even manage hi-def, Bioshock was able to run at a nice crisp 1080p, and what can Halo manage? 640p...Lol. Resolutions aside Bioshock visually beats Halo 3 in every conceivable category, and yes Bioshock uses art as well as polishing to create attractive environments as Opposed to Halo's barren featureless building architecture, lack of AA and low resolution visuals. FYI I don't expect you to take any of this in, (Halo fanboys cannot be argued with), but seriously dude I struggle to see where this game is even able to distinguish itself from its Xbox forebeares, it looks exactly the same in terms of visuals and gameplay....and after all these years it's all lookin' rather tired.

Silicon, Bioshock lasted 14 hours while halo 3 will last 500. It has so much more content and features, and the graphics are different. Bioshock used art more than polishing, while halo 3 has outstanding visuals and looks very real. Gears of war isn't even first person.

" Lol don't make me laugh dude Resistence was an insipid piece of crap, even more overrated than Halo. I will however agree with you that Halo doesn't desreve most of its hype and success, cuz at the end of the day it's just a somewhat enjoyable fps which doesn't try to go in any new direction, an with some fairly underwhelming graphics. Have all the Halo sheep even played shooters like bioshock, Gow, stalker or rainbow 6? cuz all of them make for a much more epic and polished experience!

How is this game unique and what makes it better than other fps? halo 2 was good for it's time but compared to the fps of the last 3-4 years it's slow and very basic. Halo 3 looks like the same game as Halo 2 just with better graphics. If anyone remembers this is the same thing many people were talking about when Halo 2 came out they reckon it was more like halo 1.1/ After playing other fps on the PC you would be crazy to play a slow basic shooter game like Halo. riccochet is right. I would call it jealousy, though. However, there are plenty of gamers out there who own other systems and won't troll around. Right now, no one can see the Xbox trolls, because everyone is busy praising Halo 3. But the same will apply once other games are released for other systems. Jealousy, yeah, everyone has it, and unfortunately, most trolls go and show it off, too.

Naw it's not jealousy... it's trolling. Honestly it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Just watch, when killzone 2 and MGS 4 come out the xbox trolls will be going nuts in those forums. The problem is that people keep on feeding these trolls and actually think that they will 'win' the argument or something.

The worse thing than a fanboy is one who views himself as a leader and says the same old "enjoy the system you have"/ EVERY1 LIVE IN GAMING HARMONY. No one will listen to you. Ever. A true gamer would not argue about what console is better or is more "Powerful". But about the games the games is what matters. Fanboys are no good. It's been going on like that for years and years...and it's time to give it a rest. Just enjoy the system you have Regardless if it's the PS3, Xbox 360, or the Wii. They are all good Systems and all Deserve they're rightful place as Video game Consoles. Fanboyism has been going on for years and years since the Atari era and NES and SNES and PS2 and Original Xbox era. It's time to give it a rest. Just Love the system you have and Love the Games you have for them.

i suppose we shouldn't forget all the money to be made off of the coming DLC and the XBL subscriptions.... Halo 3 is going to rake in alot of money between launch and christmas.

Bottom line is this .. i would be extremely upset if would have spent my money on a ps3 ...they dont have crap for games and are only coming out with a couple decent exclusives over the next year .. .i have been having a blast with my xbox 360 from the get go.. perfect dark zero , kameo , oblivion, bioshock,eternal sonata, gears of war, viva pinata, project gotham racing, forza motorsport, comand and conquer, halo 3, the list goes on .. AND i am eagerly awaiting the games mass effect , fable 2, lost oddesey, Army of two, shadow of aten ,fallout 3, ninja gaiden 2 and the host of games being made for both systems.....every game sony fans were hoping for turned out bad exept for heavenly sword but its a 6 hour run and its ovver .. not fun enough to warrant another play through .. only big deal you guys have coming is MGS but that series is crap those games are not fun to play ...just a bunch of pretty cutscenes.

Halo 3 deserves 7.5 out of 10 at most. The sales are fantastic news for the 360 (which im happy about) but Halo 3 is as average as a game gets in my opinion. its a shame because i was hoping for something to keep me busy until actual great games like Assasins Creed, GTA and CoD4 come out.

on 1up.com the average score for H3 is 7.3(when last i checked). Like I said review scores mean nothing to most gamers. If its a franchise that they like theyll get it whether bad or good score. People love Halo, all 3 games are great, my main thing was I wanted to finish the story. Multiplayer is another good thing about it,except when you get those racist d**kheads, you gotta take the good with the bad. A lot of my friends think it shouldve got a lower score due to the fact that theres really not too much new stuff in the game. still though its a great game, not the best FPS out there, but its up there.

Look, if you ask a sony fanboy about halo 3, they will score it a 3 or so. Xbox 360 gamers would score it about a 9.8 on average. so, to get an unbiased opinion, if you look at the critics score, they average about a 9.6. Sony fanboys will say as much negative things they can because all they do is wait around and watch video footage of games that will come out two years from now. They arent passionate about any games that have come out. xbox 360 owners are PLAYERS.. ps3 owner are WAITERS

@ bluntiss When the developers learn how to use PS3 effectively, you will be crying cause you will have to buy a Xbox 720 to have those graphics. When Xbox 360 came out, everybody was complaining too...
