Half-Life for the Dreamcast officially cancelled
Confirming speculation, Sierra has finally terminated the Dreamcast version of the PC classic.
In a press release issued by Sierra late today, it was confirmed that the Dreamcast version of Half-Life has been officially cancelled. For several months, speculation has persisted that the game may never be released on Sega's final console, and today these suspicions were confirmed. Half-Life is the latest in a string of third-party Dreamcast software cancellations since the platform was discontinued in March. Sierra's official press release stated, "Sierra regrets the cancellation of Half-Life for the Dreamcast due to changing market conditions."
When contacted for comment, Sierra stated that no further explanation for the cancellation would be issued and that it would not answer questions regarding the game's demise. Half-Life for the Dreamcast was to include an exclusive side mission called Blue Shift that would let you play as a Black Mesa security officer. The PC version of Blue Shift was recently released.
I know! maybe you could build a Time Machine, Come back in time before DC version of Half-Life was cancelled, Stop the cancellation, give Portal DC project letter for the DC version's name: SEGAPORTAL, and go back into the present! and whala! Half-Life is released on the Dreamcast! good idea,eh?
the ps2 version has awful frame rate dips. Inexcusable for such an old game. Looks ugly, too. I really need to get a copy for my DC for comparison. Bin Laden is dead. God Bless the U.S.A. and our Special Forces.
By canceling this, Valve just made sure that everyone who's playing it anyway isn't giving them any money.
The ultimate fps, already completed and ready to make the Dreamcast owners happy, CANCELLED!!! And all "due to changing market conditions" (read: the incoming PS2 version): what the hell does it mean?! Was it too annoying for Sony?! Well congrats to Valve, and to all gamers who think every brick Sony produces is the best console available... fortunately an unofficial release does exist!
it exists, just not as an officially released product.
bummer
it may not have came out for the dreamcast offically, but if you look around you can find the files and make your own copy.
didnt already come out?
No it is not...
