GS tourney report: BF2 is HOT

Team hot is a bunch of bunnyhopping prone spamming women wannabes.

I couldn't enter because my video card broke and i had to use a crap one that wouldn't allow bf2 but ill be in the next one hopefully

Man I wish I could be that good. :P its hard to practice with sucky ass ping.

we tried something called bigwar.. where 1-3 teams gettoghether and play 32vs32 got several broadcasts about that.. one that you can find here: http://www.fragtv.net/index.php?page=live&mirror=4&id=224 Xtreme Veterans Cult is my team you need to create and account and login though.. imo.. 8on8 is funnier to play. if you are more intrested in that.. i would suggest you look for xGx vs Begip (EC) or xGx vs dsr (dirty sniper rats in Up-North FInal). eagle and the swede think those are the best games they casted.

yeah. Would have been nice to see battle at a larger scale... It is Battlefield after all. Maybe gamespot was worried about the expense of the flight tickets to move a larger number of individuals. Now that's just cheap :D

Are we supposed to care? 5v5 Infantry-only is ZERO measure of how good a team is in full Battlefield mode, you remember, with the vehicles and all the other stuff that's meant to make the game not some kind of CounterSuck version. If GS had their finger on the real pulse of competitive gaming, they'd have sponsored a full-blown 8v8 or 12v12 BF2 tournament, so the game could be played the way it was meant to be played. Furthermore, for the record, competitive gaming is laughable. Games were never created to be vehicles for competitive play. They were meant to be a fun pastime and hobby. These kinds of stupid competitions completely ruin the entire point of playing games.

The Infantry only mode sucks, the match was terribly boring. Use 100% of Battlefield 2 with jets and tanks not the Counter-Strike Ifantry Only version.

i want to see a 32vs32 match all vechilces and options. maybe even triple tickets just to see the blood flow a little longer.

not to brag.. but my team is ranked 9th in the world.. never meet Team Hot yet though.. they were ranked second if i remember right.. my team is Xtreme Gaming Xperience (xGx |) #1 up north seasone 4 (nordic league . no lost game) #1 i Saaw (´same) #1 in Swedish masters pwnage (no lost game) summer took our spirit and we left EC half way (euro cup) with one lost game against Codeseven who left right before us. right now waiting for ane invite to play in denmark tournament for nordic european contries only.. EA should be paying for the trip , that will be announced soon. 6000 dollors in price money. 8 of the best teams. sounds like fun. too bad Gamespot doesnt do that much for us in europe.. hope to see some in the future.. nice to see live shows though =)

matt - 20ID doesn't typically play infantry-only. Sterex was their team lead, and he's a tanker. He played as a Medic and he NEVER does that. Though he told me later that he had a lot of fun doing it. Regardless, Team HOT did a really good job (I didn't think they played infantry either actually). Congrats to them, and I look forward to seeing them at the event!!! :)

Okay, well 8v8 is the largest and most "normal" mode of competition in Battlefield 2. 12v12 has a bit of steam, but not nearly as popular as 8v8. Anything over 16 is downright insane, and stupid. GG to HOT... I always thought 20ID was the better team but I think it showed that HOT can use their ground power to overthrow 20ID's better tactics and strategies. I'm so used to 20ID winning it's lovely to see one up in the L column every here and there.

Was a pretty boring tournament. It's hard to have a good tournament, without pitting two large teams against each other. Instead, it was 5 on 5, no vehicles, which seemed more Counter-Strike-ish, which is not how BF2 is supposed to be played. But I don't think GameSpot wanted to deal with paying for teams of 16 or more to go to Vegas.
