Punk-pop trio featured in a 10-level episode of Angry Birds Friends, appearing as pigs and playing new single, exclusive music.
Green Day is jumping on the Angry Birds bandwagon. Rovio today announced that it would be featuring the Grammy-winning punk-pop band in a new edition of the Facebook game Angry Birds Friends.
The Green Day episode of Angry Birds Friends will feature 10 levels loaded with nods to the band, from amplifiers and guitars to re-creations of the cover art from the band's album American Idiot. Rovio is even inserting band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool in the game as new porcine adversaries.
This isn't Green Day's first excursion into the world of games. In 2010, Harmonix released Green Day: Rock Band, which featured 47 of the Bay Area outfit's tracks, as well as a handful of downloadable songs.
Brendan Sinclair has been a games journalist since 1999. His tastes are eclectic, though he has a definite affinity for games with arcade roots. He's Canadian, but has also been at home in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, and San Francisco.
The day that Green Day is stopped being referred to as 'punk'....even if paired with 'pop' so as to still give them that self deluded desirable classification....will be a glorious DAY indeed.
@CDtheGAMER You have no idea what Punk is.... you can throw 1-2 songs on any album, that have a sound of country, rock, alternative, gothic, or punk....but that doesn't make the band a classified Punk Rock band. Sorry your Green Day Pop band ego was bruised....
Since when was Green Day this elite band that deserves all this idiotic promotion? Music games, Broadway, now Angry Birds. They're not the Beatles or the Stones...
True, but name one other GOOD artist that isnt crammed with autotune, computers, or excessive publicity. They will never be the Beatles or The Stones, true, but at the rate the music industry is going downhill, they are the closest thing to them left.
So sick of video game companies completely selling their children's (game's) souls for a few extra bucks. I seriously cannot tell if game news headlines are a joke before I read them.
