Ghost of Sparta studio Ready at Dawn seeking staffers for new third-person action adventure game for next-gen home console.
God of War PSP developer Ready at Dawn is working on a next-generation home console project, according to an update on its website (as spotted by Siliconera).
"Ready At Dawn is hiring. We're looking for exceptional candidates to help develop an exciting new IP for a next-generation home console," reads the statement.
The Irvine, California-based company also revealed that the new project will be a third-person action adventure game. No further specifics were offered.
The developer has opened up 16 new, full-time jobs for the project. These positions span the gamut of development and include calls for various artists, animators, and programmers.
Though Ready at Dawn is arguably most famous for God of War PSP games Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus, the studio also built Daxter for the PSP and Okami for the Wii.
Nintendo's Wii U is the only next-generation console to be announced thus far. It is due for a worldwide release this holiday season.

Given that the development times for AAA games is in the range of two to five years, I wouldn't necessarily assume that these new employees will be targeting Wii U. Besides, the trend is towards putting games on platforms, not fewer...so whatever shows up on Wii U will probably have versions for the PS3, 360, and whatever other consoles are current at the time of the game's release.
instead of prepering for next gen consoles wait for something to happen in 2012 lol. if nothing happens go ahead
Why all these companies are preparing for the next-gen? Does that mean Sony and MS was lying and the consoles are coming out these christmas?
There's some games that didn't enough attention, the two PSP God of Wars. Awesome games though.
My guess is gonna be the Wii U. It would make sense that they use developers that have experience with handhelds considering the Wii U's new tablet controller. Of course I am just speculating.
Wow, several developers seem to more or less indirectly letting us know that a new console generation is on the way (without much word coming from the actual people making the consoles). Let them come or don't, I'm still considering what mods to use for Diablo 2 in wait of Diablo 3, so I don't care if new consoles arrive this year or next.

@nevershoutnevea Santa Monica made God of War 1 & 2 on PS2 and God of War 3 on PS3 while Ready at Dawn made God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparda for the PSP.
@paranormalnut While I believe Sony doesn't want to let Microsoft have a big lead like they did before, I don't think they will launch before the new xbox, and I even doubt they'll release it within the first year of the new xbox. They may release it quicker than anticipated, but we all know Sony is trying to get the most out of their PS3, which I do think still has a lot of potential. I think it will be the Wii U first, followed shortly after by the next xbox, then later on by the next Playstation.
Barighm Well considering they already announced they would be out before Christmas then yea, they aren't to far out.
Sony is playing a game. They have been working on PS4. They can say PS4 is still a few years away but that is B.S. No way will they let MS have the lead they had the last time.
@omgmike23 The article and site explicitly state: "We're looking for exceptional candidates to help develop an exciting new IP for a next-generation home console." The Vita isn't a home console, so I'm guessing this is for the Wii U or next Playstation/Xbox. If you are confused by why the former God of War PSP devs would work on a Wii U title, keep in mind that Ready at Dawn is NOT a Sony developer and that they have previously done a port for Okami on the Wii.
Pretty sure this is GOING to be for the vita NOT the ps4 as they've stated on GS that God of war IV was already "in the works"(hiring staffing etc) so unless this is the same article with a different title its got to be for the vita only.
Our we going to get updates like this all year long up to launch days for the new systems? I assume all developers are hiring and working on stuff for the new systems. Maybe we are suppose dto think they are not going to release milk again. Duh!
New IP! This is a great thing. I love me some God of War, but I'm not sure how you can realistically top the death toll that Kratos wracked up at the end of God of War 3. Part of what made the series compelling was storyline and there's just nothing left to have Kratos kill and no reasons for him to be doing it. Time to move onto something new and I'm thrilled to see them doing so.
