Sony adds five more titles to lineup of budget-priced catalog titles, including Heavy Rain, ModNation Racers, UFC 2010, and Uncharted 2: Game of the Year Edition.
The PlayStation 3's Greatest Hits lineup of catalog titles has expanded yet again. Sony today added five of 2010's biggest releases to its budget-priced promotion, bringing the total number of inductions into the program to 52.
Leading the latest charge of Greatest Hits games is God of War III, Kratos' current-generation console debut, which originally saw release last March. Other Sony games joining the Ghost of Sparta in the program are the serial killer whodunit Heavy Rain, the customization-friendly ModNation Racers, and the Game of the Year Edition of Uncharted 2. A single third-party title, THQ's UFC Undisputed 2010, also made the cut.
Sony did not say when the Greatest Hits versions of the games should arrive in stores. However, they will be easily identifiable by the line's distinctive red-tinted Blu-ray cases. All of the new editions will carry a suggested price point of $30.
Uncharted is looking set to be one of the best franchises ever, it's brilliant stuff.. and Heavy Rain is without doubt one of the best games to date - it had me hooked from start to end. However I still never 'got' the whole God of War thing.. I've played the demo for God of War 3 but never really fealt the urge to buy it. The graphics were good yeah, but it seemed a tad repetitive. I know I'll upset a few people here, but I find it a bit over-rated for what it actually is :/
For shame anyone owning a PS3 and not in possession of Uncharted 2, GOWIII and Heavy Rain already. You might as well have just bought any platform if you're going to miss these ones!
Infamous should've been somewhere in between those. A game worth tagging as an exclusive. Unique game play and concept. Definitely considering a console for.
@Redflametrown UC2 lifetime sales are 4.45 compared to GOW3 lifetime sales of 3.6. Do you really think GOW3 is ever going to catch up to UC2 lifetime sales that they are both GH an UC3 on the way. No way!!! UC2 lifetime sales are the regular and GOTY.
@Redflametrow. I'm not sure why you can't understand what I'm saying. This has nothing to do with the best selling PS3 game of last year. This games go GOTY when 1. When they have sold enough and 2. when they have exhausted a certain price point. Do you really think UC2 GOTY sold enough to get a GH all by itself. The answer is no but UC2 and the UC2 GOTY combined have and they are only dropping the price now because sales are now slowing down. GOW3 sales have slowed down a lot sooner. I'm not sure how you can't comprehend this concept. The only reason they are putting the GOTY UC2 as GH is because that is the only version that is still being produced. They did the same with LPB2 GOTY.
@3rdbass I'm not quite sure if I can put things simply enough for you to understand. This hasn't been about trying to explain how they should do it, but how they did do it. Uncharted 2 GOTY edition could have sold as many as 700k last year while God of War III sold about 3.42million last year. 3,420,000>700,000 Therefore the bigger seller last year was God of War III. While they may not differentiate editions, they can figure out how many games were sold after the release date of the certain edition. Anyhow, meant to explain it to you rather than receive an argument. I really feel like you're trolling me because some things just haven't made sense like saying there wasn't a GOTY edition released.
So the Playstation 3 has thus far 52 Greatest hits Not bad for a System that people once said has no good games to play.
@Redflametrow You don't know what you are talking about. Sales charts don't make any distinctions between GOTY, GH, or regular edition. They are all UC2 sales as far as they are concerned. So once the regular edition of UC2 stop selling the GOTY is being added to UC2 sales and the same will happen with GH. I guess you don't really follow sales? Thus UC2(all versions) has sold way more than GOW3. Also, like I mentioned it has a higher critics rating 96 to 92. Let's not even get into awards won as UC2 kills GOW 3 there also. No reason to give GOW 3 top billing.
I borrowed GOW3, Heavy Rain.and Uncharted 2 from friends. I think its now time to buy all 3. Sony Exclusives FTW!
GOW 3 was a monster HIT like 1, 2 i hated to see it end! =( i am going to go get modnation racers now.
I loved GOW3 and it was one of the best action oriented platformers on the PS3, or any platform for that matter. One of the main reasons I purchased a PS3. That and The Last Guardian. I still have to beat Uncharted before I purchase UC2. Good to see it have a low price point too.
@SonicBalla Looks like Bestbuy already has made the price drop. So I recommend going there and experiencing one of the best games out there.
@3rdbass You're misinformed. Uncharted 3 is in production, Uncharted 2 GOTY edition was released October 12th with a promoted $35 in dlc. Here's a link to Bestbuy's website to show you it http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=1B5B7A56B19B367FA3F7472C2E939F02.bbolsp-app01-01?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=-6474044638306953989&id=pcat17071&type=page&st=Uncharted+2&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&list=n&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960 Now I think 2 months of Uncharted 2 GOTY edition vs. God of War's 9 months doesn't make it surprising God of War outsold it.
Barighm Posted Feb 25, 2011 3:20 pm ET "Did MS cancel the platinum hits program? It doesn't turn up at their site anymore and I don't see any new plat games coming out." They do...you can purchase them on Xbox Live.
I literally wanted to buy all four of these first-party games but was just waiting for the price to come down further... I'll gladly shell out the money for all of these
im gonna buy GOW3 soon, but i still havent beat the 2nd one yet, but one day, one dayyy!!!!!! sheesh i have wayy 2 many games that i havnt even touched yet, buying them is my addiction!
Heavy rain, God of war uncharted 2 and modnation here i come 4 games i wanted to buy but i didn't want to buy them at full price.
Brings me back memories of 2010's finest. Heavy Rain, God of War 3, the list goes.. I almost want to re-buy a lot of games I've sold. I think I might just do that..now.
I already got ModNation Racers and God of War III when they were at full price, but now I've got a good reason to join the crowd and buy Heavy Rain.
Did MS cancel the platinum hits program? It doesn't turn up at their site anymore and I don't see any new plat games coming out.
Damn....Sony's going crazy w/ these GH titles! Wow, and here I thought my excitement for Peace Walker added to PSP GH was the icing on my cake, but this too?! Wow....Heavy Rain for 30 bucks (already got GOW3 & UC2)?? Man Sony, you really know how to make a girl reach for her wallet, don't you? Looks like I've just had titles bumped up into my (already overflowing) 'To Buy' list.....
