Gilbert Arenas nets NBA Live 08 cover

Injured Washington Wizards star takes solace in gaming glory, pegs "October 1 or 2" release date for EA's next hoops game.
With so many fans (as well as superstitious athletes) concerned about the Madden cover jinx, Electronic Arts may have found a way around the issue by simply picking poster boys for its products that are already experiencing a stretch of bad luck. This weekend EA unveiled the already unfortunate cover athlete for its upcoming NBA Live 08: Gilbert Arenas, all-star guard of the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards are on the brink of being swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in the first round of the NBA playoffs after an unlucky April sidelined two of the team's top three scorers. The team's all-star forward Caron Butler started the month by breaking a bone in his hand, quickly followed by a season-ending knee injury suffered by Arenas.
"It makes my whole rehabbing that much better now," wrote Arenas in his NBA.com blog. "Because while rehabbing, all I'm thinking about is, 'I'm on the cover of Live.'"
After describing the honor as being "better than a Wheaties box," Arenas tipped fans off to when they could expect to see his mug gracing retail shelves, saying "October 1 or 2. Y'all be at them stores."
EA did not announce a complete list of platforms for NBA Live 08, but it did say the game will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Wii for the first time. The game is currently in development at EA Canada.

I would buy 2k if they had an All-Star week on it but when will that be all they really have good is graphics. Nba live has nice graphics for X-Box 360 and they will prolly be nice for the PS3 too. Allso Live has an All-Star mode.
no matter who they put on the cover, it don't matter as long as the gameplay isn't as good as 2k series...

I like Arenas, I think he deserved it with hose 4 game winning shots. Though I would like to see Jorge Garbajosa on the cover... not happening. Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, Tracy McGrady, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki and Amare Stoudemire are the other guys who could have got it.
stolpk i think shawn marion is more versitile.. but yea kevin garnett is all the t-wolves got. hmmmmm gilbert is pretty cool tho.. shooting one handed 3's :D

Even tho the T-wolves did horrible this year id like to see Kevin Garnett on the cover of 2k8, most versatile player in the league.
If it's going to suck like it has for the past several years, does it really matter who will be on the cover? These athletes act like they are starving for money. I wouldn't want my name associated with a crappy product.
I like Gilbert, great player and an all around class act. That being said, I'm from Cleveland so you all know who I would have put on the cover...
and i like what snoobo117 said. LeBron gets ragged on too much, nothings ever good enough for the critics. Get him some cover time! Bosh doesnt get enough credit either...either one would be fine
Who cares..Live is horrible! Kobe should be on the 2K8 cover because he is the best shooter in the league.

It's pretty funny that this is PS3 news, but the 360 version of the game is the one featured in the article.
Man I was I big live fan Until I played Nba 2k5 and ever since they I been a fan of nba 2k I hope Live is gonna be just as good as its graphics or even can compete with the game play of 2k
NBA Live is not a good game and has been bad for some time. I hope EA Canada responds with a better product because NBA 2K is a great game. I'm jus' sayin'. :)
I don't think he deserved it. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player, and I like him as a player, but they should give it to Novitzki or Nash. Or maybe one of them Bulls.

yeah gilbert likes 2k games (and so do i) but i think gilberts awesoem, and hopefully live doesnt suck so much this year! (but stevie nash should be on da cover)
