Epic has previously mentioned that the entire point of wingman was to draw in the FFA for crowd without making a FFA mode because FFA contradicts the design philosophy of Gears ...
Epic to debut new multiplayer mode at PAX Prime; two news maps also unveiled.
Epic Games has announced a free-for-all multiplayer mode for the studio's upcoming shooter, Gears of War: Judgment.
The free-for-all mode is a first for the Gears of War series and will see players taking on an every-man-for-himself role. Epic also unveiled two new maps for the game, which will debut alongside the new multiplayer mode this week at PAX Prime in Seattle: Gondola and Library.
Gondola will place players in the surrounds of a gated community close to the Agora foothills, while Library will see players exploring an archive documenting the life of Alexiy Desipich.
Free-for-all is the second new multiplayer mode to be announced for Gears of War: Judgment following OverRun, a class-based competitive mode featuring Locust and COG soldiers.
Gears of War: Judgment is the next installment in the series since last year's trilogy-capping Gears of War 3. Developed by Epic Games in conjunction with Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly, the project focuses on series soldier Damon Baird and will not use the Kinect. A free for all mode. Fair enough just kill everyone. Not a huge surprise. Hope the game is worth it. This has to be Xbox 360's swan song for 2013.
Just another team deathmatch mode:
Could be really fun or down right terrible. Either way, I'm open to trying it out. More options is a good thing in my book.
Gears has always had a strong team related MP mode and it worked very well. Free for all mode will just be chaos with everyone being spawn killed and annihilated within seconds.
While I will probably be getting this game I won't be bothering with this mode. I'm far more interested in the horde beast hybrid mode they showed off a few months back.
@02050muh Your insightful comment has changed my entire view of world economics and the international geopolitical complex. It has also inspired me to create a new world religion consisting of three gods - Earth, Wind, and Fire - whose scriptures have been written down by the prophets Hall, Oats, Simon, and Garfunkel. Religious settings by Barry White, and the pastor enters to the theme of Shaft.
Ths will suck. Gears needs to stick to team-based modes. Free-for-all doesn't belong in tactical shooters like Gears.
Wow...so many damn haters...why do half of you even bother clicking on the article then!? I think Free-for-All is always fun and if it get's boring eventually, holy s**t there's other modes? Surprise! For the guy who made the "COD and BF3" comparision...are you kidding me!? Gears is nothing, I mean NOTHING like those 2. People forget that Halo and Gears are what put Xbox on the map in the first place. Too many COD fanboys these days, it's pathetic. I play COD, BF3, Gears, Halo, MOH...the best thing about them ARE the differences. The "everyone one copies everyone" or "this game is just like that game" comments mean your just an ignorant person, not a true gamer and you fail to see games for what they really are. Show some respect for Gears, it's always been solid.
@Zulu1Tango CORRECTION: Halo is what put Xbox on the map. The Xbox 360 wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the Halo franchise's success on the original Xbox.
@PSYCHOV3N0M Yes, your correct Halo did put Xbox on the map...THEN...the next big thing that came was Gears of War, which was so different then what gamers were used too and created an entire new experience. I never meant they were a simultaneous debut, just meaning they were both the original BIG 2...of course later came Modern Warfare, but that's another story...
@Zulu1Tango I don't have anything against any of the games you mentioned, but what exactly is a TRUE gamer? It's like saying there is a definitive true book reader or movie watcher.
@swyg IMO...there's a difference between a "true" gamer and a "fan." A true gamer can appreciate change, take a game for what it's worth, like different games and genres, know the differences and appreciate them OH and especially not jump on a band wagon and just hate games cuz others do too or love games cuz others do too...a fan...sticks to one game or genre, hates on everything else, is closed minded to differences and wants "everything to be like everything else." There's so much more in depth that I can go, but I hope you see my point....again...IMO
@Zulu1Tango Yes but that fact that they don't even listen to hardcore gamers is an insult, they only care about making money. Have you even played Gears online since the start? I can't imagine you have, or you wouldn't be saying this. It's hasn't always been solid.
@Ferg1213 One more thing @Ferg1213, when I said "solid" I didn't mean like a flawless experience, yes we all know the over powered shotguns and random spawns were an issue, no game is perfect, but it's always been a solid experience for the most part. So to me, it's still a solid game. Not nearly as many issues as other shooters have...
@Ferg1213 @Zulu1TangoUh, yes I have. Plus, hardcore gamers can and will appreciate new modes or a change from the "norm" every now and then. True, I do agree with you that developers don't always listen to gamers...BUT...just because they added free-for-all...I mean...I don't even know how that ties into your comment of "them caring about making more money."...what does that have to do with anything? It's just a damn game mode.
@Gamer-Elias IMO Free for All is only fun when you play in a custom game with friends only. Like in the old days.
o cool the game is moving more away from what made it popular...
Cliffy: "how can we make more money"
manager: "umm make the game more like COD"
Cliffy: "YESSSS muhahaha"
@Nintendo_Man I'm a huge fan of the series but i only enjoy the game because of the compelling and emotional campaigns, Also the MP was ruined by overpowered weapons. and bringing back skill in this game if they get rid of all the overpowered weapons and make equal matchmaking
@Nintendo_Man I only played to MP matches in GoW 3. After discovering it was simply a shotgun-fest, I just kept playing Campaign and Horde instead.
@Nintendo_Man just more than CoD, BF, etc..
