Yes, they're old hardware at this point, we get that. Back in 2005/6 however, they weren't.

Think about the best-looking console games. Let's say those are Uncharted 3, Gears 3, Killzone 3, Alan Wake, and the console versions of Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2. Back in 2006, the PC didn't have any games that looked that good.

These were very capable machines back when they launched.

Your language reeks of elitism, by the way, so I doubt you're fully comprehending anything I'm saying.

I would also argue that the PC puts a limit on gameplay innovation, to a certain extend, because of how ubiquitous the mouse and keyboard is. PC snobs like you think your mouse + keyboard can do everything, and that any additional input methods (motion controls, voice commands, etc) are just "gimmicky crap", which means PC games never see any innovation as far as input methods.

Sure, Kinect and PS Move have generated tons of crappy gimmicky games, but there are also instances where the tech has been put to very good use. You're going to overlook those, of course.

 @Spartan_418 I allow for the possibility that consoles at some point might graduate to a point higher than homogenized, watered down toy versions of real computers, but I have yet to be truly impressed to such a degree by xbox or playstation. Think back to the mid-late 90's when all the great innovations in game design were being made. Most, if not all of them were on the PC. We'll probably never have a renaissance like that again, and (in my opinion at least) that is due in no small part to the complete takeover of the market by consoles. 

 @punk950 No, you're all jerks because you think no one should be allowed to play games on anything that isn't a PC.

And because you don't allow for the possibility that there are still good reasons to use consoles, despite the outdated hardware.

I personally play all three: PC, 360 and PS3. I don't see the need to get rid of the consoles just because PC hardware is more powerful.

 @punk950  Nope. Playing a console at all doesn't make you "braindead". There are good exclusive games on 360 and PS3 that the PC doesn't have. They make the consoles worth playing.
