Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows site surfaces
New page features character profiles, screenshots, first trailer for online hack-and-slasher, more content to come.
Midway's latest installment of Gauntlet is going to introduce the franchise to the world of online this November, but in the meantime, the publisher's official Web site for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox game will make sure the online world knows it's on its way.
The Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows site currently features screenshots, a trailer, the backstory, and biographies for each of the characters (because to understand the motivations of the Valkyrie Ragnheidur, one must first know that she was born in Nordis, Heima). Some of the game's music is also accessible on the site, with at least one track certain to ring a few bells for fans of the series. Future updates will include downloads (likely wallpapers and screensavers), information on the game's weapons and armor, and press clippings.
It's been a rough and rocky road to retail for Midway's latest incarnation of the original dungeon-crawling co-op hack-and-slash. Much of the game's original buzz was due to the addition of developers John Romero and J.E. Sawyer to the design team, but both Romero and Sawyer exited the project in July, followed shortly thereafter by word emerging that the PC version of the game had been canceled earlier in the year. Apparently it would take a lot more than a mere three sorrows such as this to delay the game, as the new Gauntlet is still on track to meet its November launch date.
