Gaming industry conference returns to Sydney

Business-focused Gametech conference to be held late June at Luna Park, Sydney; international guest speakers include Eidos president Ian Livingstone and executive vice president of Activision's Call of Duty business unit, Philip Earl.

Following on from last year's inaugural Gametech Conference in Sydney, organisers have announced that the gaming industry-focused event will return in 2012.

Scheduled to be held over two days from June 19-20 at Sydney's Luna Park, Gametech 2012 will aim to cover all segments of the interactive entertainment space with insights from publishers, developers, mobile and social platforms, the Australian government, and technology providers.

Organisers have revealed that the new focus for this year's event will be a series of case studies delivered by "corporate digital media specialists" discussing the idea and role of gamification.

Dominic Patterson, producer of Gametech, said the conference's return in 2012 was due to positive feedback from last year's event, which indicates a desire for an event that focuses on the business side of gaming in the local market.

Gametech 2012 will feature four international keynote speakers: Ian Livingstone, life president, Eidos (UK); Philip Earl, executive vice president, Call of Duty business unit, Activision (USA); Lisa Marino, CEO, RockYou (USA); and Arthur Chow, co-founder and COO, 6waves (HK).

Organisers have also confirmed that a further 30 speakers will partake in the Gametech 2012 program from companies including Ubisoft, Disney Interactive Media Group, Small Worlds, Defiant Development, Optus, Bubble Gum Interactive, Nokia, Rip Curl, Commonwealth Bank, and Sydney Festival, as well as a live-link welcome from Federal Minister for Home Affairs Jason Clare.

Gametech 2012 will be held on June 19-20 at Luna Park, Sydney. More info can be found here.
