max payne 3, and then GTA V, and then at some point R* will release RDR sequel. yes R*, i'll always support your company.
Company president Tony Bartel says 2012 outlook doesn't include Rockstar Games' new open-world action game.
When will gamers get their hands on Grand Theft Auto V? Not in 2012, according to GameStop. In a question-and-answer session today that followed the company's latest earnings report, president Tony Bartel said GTAV is not factored into the retailer's 2012 forecast.
Bartel was responding to an analyst's question regarding which titles will drive the lion's share of revenue in 2012 for GameStop. Bartel listed off Ghost Recon: Future Solider, FIFA 13, NCAA Football 13, Madden NFL 13, Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Assassin's Creed III, Resident Evil 6, Max Payne 3, a new Call of Duty game, and Prototype 2 as titles the company is "banking on" for 2012.
"In terms of GTAV, we don't have followed information that we can share at this point so we have not put that into our forecast. We would adjust our estimate if we had knowledge that GTA was coming out [in 2012]."
Last week, Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia said GTAV is likely to ship in March 2013. He said shipping the game in that window will be advantageous for Rockstar, because it is far from the releases of new entries in the Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty franchises.
As for GTAV, Rockstar revealed the game in October 2011, but no mention has yet been made concerning a launch window or platform(s) for the title. Last month, the developer said details regarding the game are months away.
Rockstar has provided brief glimpses at GTAV thus far. The game will be set primarily in present-day Los Santos, a fictional town modeled on Los Angeles. Rockstar has also said that GTAV boasts the largest scope of any installment in the franchise to date.
Whoever said that Rockstar does release more than one game a year is half right. Up until 2008, Rockstar did put out more than one, you'll remember that Grand Theft Auto IV and Midnight Club released in the same year. After that, Rockstar has only released one a year with the exception of 2009 since they released Beaterator which was a PS Portable and iOS game along with the last expansions of GTA IV. Since then, only one a year with 2010 giving us Red Dead Redemption, 2011 being L.A. Noire and 2012 with the upcoming Max Payne 3. Bank on GTA V not being until next year.
@holdentorana74 What? Waste my money on an inferior console? Are you kidding me? Nah only joking. Anyway GTA 4 is known to have freezing and crashing issues on all platforms so it wouldn't make a difference. Anyone who doesn't believe me can look it up. It's a fact.
I wasn't expecting the game this year either. GTA titles are not known to be out the gate so soon after announcement. E3 may be very interesting this year. I'm expecting tons of gameplay videos and trailers!
Well Rockstar always know what they are doing, and I love how they are not like the other companies, Revealing too many info about the game everyday so when you buy it you've already seen it all.
Take your time, Rockstar. It makes no difference to me whether I play the game this year or next year.
not to long ago i went back to playing san andreas i just hope atleast a number of san andreas characters make an appearance
No big deal. I don't think any of us really thought this would be coming out in 2012. Excited regardless.
I thought everyone already knew this? The game is coming out May 24th 2013. Yes I am 100 percent sure. Yes I know some of you will deny it. Yes I will make a 60 dollar bet with you. Yes if I am wrong I will be your sex slave. No I will not stop laughing at you when I take your 60 dollars.
@Solidsnake13_2 - I hope your wrong and you are, your forgetting one tiiiiny little thing... Midnight Club LA, this come out in 2008 aswell =P Rockstar DO release more than one game a year and I'm sure and hope they will this year.
GTA4 is LEGENDARY,if you don't like it go play Saints Row!! Hopefully GTA5 will be in the same realistic vein...
They're taking too long. When it does come out it better not be the crashing mess that gta 4 was on the xbox 360. The episodes crashed all the time aswell for me. I had to give up and buy the pc version which is badly optimized and doesn't run very smoothly. So it better work properly when it does finally come out.
Far from Assassins Creed and COD release? What the hell, I have every one of those so far, and I'd say all their game play combined doesn't come close to the GTA experience. Would buy even if released the same day as Assassins Creed 3 or COD 26...
Thank goodness someone confirmed saying its coming this year. I knew when they announced the trailer I knew it wasn't coming in 2012. It's either 2013 or possibly 2014 depending on RockStar Games cause I know how they are. They release a new game once a year. GTAIV: 2008, GTA expansions: 2009, Red Dead Redemption: 2010, LA Noire: 2011, Max Payne 3: 2012.. GTAV.... TBD
Rockstar is publishing it. So, no matter how long it takes for the game to come out, IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT!
I don't care what gamestop make guesses about because I make my own =P I'm really hoping and want GTA V to be out around September / October this year, a new trailer will probably shown at E3 in June. Can't wait for that game anyway, I've played Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV to death more or less, I still love 'em all. I finally modded GTA IV recently, I tried a couple of times before and just wasn't able to but now it looks incredible, should keep it alive until V comes out. I have a new video of it on youtube if you want a look? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfsmbRVz-D0
GTA 4 was over-rated.....it was a good game but c'mon...that game took it self way too seriously....
@fillup0--lol seriously mate? You dare call anyone a hipster and you look like that?! Look like an ugly woman or out of work 80's rocker. Epic fail.
If I remember correctly, the GTA series come out in the spring time, thus the assumption that it may be pushed to beginning of 2013???
@Gravity_Slave So you take pride in playing video games longer than anybody else and flaunt it on the internet? I think that's called being a hipster.
@fillup0: look, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. It's obvious, you're too young and inexperienced to "ever be wrong". For the record, you started this by accusing me of not ever playing the game like you had something over me...so i shot you down reminding you of your place by announcing my age. I didn't walk in here throwing it around...........................................................................................Also, I never said GTA was ever bad. It just uses the same formula time and again. (since you brought up CoD) And for that matter, CoD is no different. The publishers knew that and thats why they're sticking to the same ol' playbook................................................................................................ And yes fillup0...compared to you...I AM a "grizzled video game veteran" . What are you...16? 18? 20 even?? I'd say about 25 years worth of grizzled under my belt over you. Im 36 kiddo
@Gravity_Slave Yes I do have great parents. I was able to play GTA and draw a line between the video game world and this world as a child. I think you will find that I have great parents for that. Nobody mentioned anything about CoD. Oh, and stop using the word 'kiddo'. It's not going to make you seem like some kind of grizzled video gaming veteran...
@fillup0: Played GTA as a kid?...nice parenting there. (FYI, i was still an adult playing them.) Second, who the heck even mentioned anything about CoD? lol, i think you're waffling kiddo.
@Gravity_Slave Doesn't every sequel ever do the same thing? Oh and I played the top down GTA games a whole lot as a kid. Seriously though, you make it seem like it is the Call of Duty of open world games, which is totally untrue.
Due to the way the title art appear, I'll be calling this Grand Theft Auto V. Five. It's silly, but not totally inaccurate.
@fillup0: oh, is this the part where I'm supposed to say "well no fillup0, i haven't...i guess i should go play it before making a rash comment about it huh?"..... Seriously kiddo? lol I'm willing to bet i've been playing the original top down GTA games before you walk. Like it or not, GTA is one of those titles (how ever good, never said they weren't good, they're great infact) that follow the same playbook and formula every installment. New character, different open world city (lol sometimes, GTA IV went back to LibertyCity again) Same mission structure. Tell me how that is so original it deserves a sequal number? Honestly was Red Dead any different? lol
Wasn't the news already broke that the game was expected to be released this time next year? Pointless article.
They seriously need to stop giving GTA games whole numbers and just stick to decimal points treating it as just another add-on or update it is... This is really GTA 3.7.1
What?! But after that one trailer and months of hype I was expecting it out tomorrow! WHY THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
Lol@"Gamestop not expecting".These guys rarely have their release date list correct as it is.If it doesn't,that's fine.If it does however, then great! But i'm sure not going to take the word from a store that employs people, that more than half of them no nothing about gaming to begin with.Much less have an accurate release date list. That's how it is where I live any way.
@BryanParksSuper back in the 2012, wait that's now, we do care for stories. I think you're under 18 yourself and were only recently woken out of hibernation, only to discover that nobody plays Pacman anymore.
