Thousands of dollars up for grabs in parallel Street Fighter IV, Turbo HD Remix tourneys at GS' San Francisco HQ later this month.
Capcom has been tight-lipped about exact release dates for its arcade brawler Street Fighter IV or the console Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, but gamers willing to trek to the San Francisco area will have the opportunity to go hands-on with both games next week.
On Tuesday, September 30, GameSpot will host the Ultimate Street Fighter Showdown at CBS Interactive's headquarters in San Francisco, a free and open-to-the-public event that will be sponsored by Capcom and feature tournaments in both of the publisher's upcoming fighters. From 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., would-be winners will pummel each other out of the running one by one, until one stands triumphant in each game.
For those who deviate from Ryu's belief that the fight is everything, there's also some money involved. The winners of each tournament will receive a $1,000 prize, as well as the chance to earn another $500 if they can best the other tourney champ in both games.
Like any good competition, there are some a few ground rules. Participants must be 18 or up, no bags or other items will be allowed in the building, and players are not allowed to bring in their own controllers or joysticks.
Can't make it to San Francisco next week? No problem. GameSpot will also be hosting its weekly community game night for Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting on the Xbox 360, so players from around the world can go toe-to-toe with the crew in California.
For more on the event--including pre-registration information to secure a spot in the first-come, first-served brackets--check out the GameSpot community page.
within next 2 years there will be no more exclusive games to play so every onen will be happy with there systems.
Damn Right Lowkey254. It really disgusts me to see everything XBOX. Geez there are other gaming systems out that are better. Do youse guys think Microsoft is paying extra for the support of the other major companies to boast about and use xbox any chance they get?
360 has the worst controller for 2d fighting. If I was going i would bring my ps3 and demand an equal opportunity.
Drkr_Zen gamespot is not biased to 360 if anything they are bais to the ps 3 but i would not even say that although they did write a artical once with misinformation that looked like it was written by a ps 3 fan boy.
I agree with ya, GameFreakJason. I wish I could join this tourney, but I only have a PS3/Wii and I'm really itchin' to get back into SF, though I can't. But anyway, GS has always leaned toward the 360 over the PS3. When you see PS3 articles, you always see the 360 mentioned. "Trophy news? Let's mention Achievements, even though Skill Points were brought into games by Insomniac on Sony consoles almost a decade ago!"
Y r all the gaming events on the west coast? Y can't the east coast get any love? Im not traveling 3,000 miles 4 a tourney. I would love 2 play in both of em but can't travel 2 the west coast 4 it. Move some of these gaming events around the US & not just on the west coast. Can't wait 4 both of em! Hadou-ken!!!!!!
looking farward to this game, i will be so hooked. And who cares who i buy it to. Remember that future games will be ported from Ps3 to xbox360. In 1 year ore so.
I agree, there is never any love for PS3. Even on Gamespot, multiplatform games usually get reviewed on the 360 first. But that's okay, I am well hyped for PS3's own set of exclusives. As for this tournament, I wish I could join but I cant. I have never ever joined a tournament and would love if games were to do this more often.
thekey I agree with you that there is more Wii's and 360's in people's homes then PS3's only because the PS3 is the most expensive one of the 3 right now and most people even me can't buy or afford the PS3 that is the only reason there is more 360's and Wii's in people's homes. Because PS3 is too expensive for people $399.99. I admit I don't have a PS3 However I want a PS3. But honestly Xbox 360 might be the cheapest console right now However it's that cheap meaning the Xbox 360 is bound to red ring on you more then once Microsoft is not proud of they're Xbox 360. Just look at they're first Xbox forgotten in the minds of Microsoft and some Customers. Now from Xbox 360 and PS3 PS3 is a better buy and better quality console and alot of people prefer having a console that won't red ring on them people like that don't care if the PS3 has less games and exclusives then Xbox 360 as long as the console they choose doesn't break on them. And Wii is a good quality console that won't break on you. Now with that the best console to buy right now from this Gen are PS3 and Nintendo Wii. I do have a Xbox 360 and like it and Xbox 360 has alot of games to buy and choose from. However the red ring of death issue can't be avoided if it keeps popping up in people's Xbox 360. If the Xbox 360 was a better quality console then In my honest Opinion Microsoft would have already won this Gen and Console war with Xbox 360 with they're good games and exclusives. If anyone thinks the PS3 is expensive just work hard for it and save from your allowance from your parents or your paycheck from work and you will have earned it and deserved it If the PS3 is the console you really want from the 3 and if the games you want are on PS3 only like Metal Gear Solid 4 then save for the PS3 and you will obtain the PS3 in your hands along with Metal Gear Solid 4. :) Enough said. I can't wait for Street Fighter IV to come out on Xbox 360 and PS3.
No I think your the blind one condemned100. How many Wii's and 360's are in people's homes compared to how many PS3's are in peoples homes? PS3 although it's the most advanced out of the "big 3" it's just that... Number 3 in sales so the mainstream media doesn't care about PS3 like they should. When and if the PS4 drops it maybe a different story.
Gamespot is Blind by being pro 360 and supporting Microsoft with they're Xbox 360 never once does Gamespot say we will be playing this and this game on the PS3 at this time at this date . Even with the RROD issue it doesn't seem to phase Gamespot one bit knowing they're 360's are bound to red ring on them if it hasn't already then red ring again.
just release already dude :@, if they do however announce ,do it just 8 or 9 days before so i can get ready
Why is it any time there is some kind of challenge for gaming its always played on an Xbox 360? Never on a PS3 why is that?
