Game movies hit online video sites
YouTube hosting rough cut of trailer for Uwe Boll's Postal, Dead or Alive up on Google Video in its entirety.
Devoted fans of the Postal and Dead or Alive game series can give their film adaptations a chance without forking over their own money because the full-length Dead or Alive feature film and an early trailer for Postal can be found on Internet video sites today. [UPDATE: Dead or Alive was pulled from Google Video shortly after this story went live.]
Directed by Corey Yuen (The Transporter, Dragons Forever), Dead or Alive has been posted apparently in its entirety on Google Video since January 7. The PG-13-rated film stars Jamie Pressley (My Name is Earl, Ringmaster), Devon Aoki (Sin City, 2 Fast 2 Furious), pro wrestler Kevin Nash (Grandma's Boy, The Punisher), and Eric Roberts (The Specialist, Best of the Best) and runs almost 83 minutes long. It follows a group of fighters invited to compete in the exclusive DOA fighting tournament and features an assortment of familiar faces from the game, including Kasumi, Christie, Helena, Zach, Tina, and Bass.
While it doesn't provide as extensive a look at the movie, the trailer for Postal might be more enlightening because director Uwe Boll's intentions for the adaptation are shown exactly. After taking a relatively straight-faced approach to films based on House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne, Boll is setting out to make Postal an outrageous comedy. In just 90 seconds, Boll's trailer for Postal features the director saying his movies are financed by Nazi gold, toilet humor, guns, sex, and a supposed endorsement from Osama bin Laden.
The Postal trailer features Zach Ward (Resident Evil: Apocalypse), Verne Troyer (Austin Powers: Goldmember, Bubble Boy), and Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall, News Radio) and advertises the film's release as this spring.
