'Full-fledged' Assassin's Creed title coming in 2012
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says that stealth-action series will continue with another annual installment next year.
The Assassin's Creed series has been an annual franchise for Ubisoft since 2009's Assassin's Creed II. It is now clear that the yearly release schedule will continue at least through 2012.
During Ubisoft's 2012 first-half earnings call today, CEO Yves Guillemot took an opportunity to confirm that an Assassin's Creed title will launch next year. "I have the pleasure to announce today that there will be another full-fledged Assassin's Creed title next year. It will be another major release, and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months," said Guillemot.
Confirmation of another future entry in Ubisoft's stealth action series comes just a week before the release of Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Revelations will resolve the story of Ezio, who was first introduced in Assassin's Creed II. This time out, Ezio will seek out the haunts of original Assassin's Creed protagonist Altair, visiting such Middle East strongholds as the Ottoman Empire's Constantinople. There, Ezio will once again take up arms against the Templar order.
