$20 add-on for Xbox 360-exclusive racing game arriving December 18; includes off-road racing tracks, rally-tuned cars.
Forza Horizon does not ship until October 23, but developer Turn 10 is already gearing gamers up for its first expansion. The company today shared more details on the game's previously announced first expansion, now known as Forza Horizon Rally.
The add-on will cost $20 as a standalone purchase at launch on December 18, and is included with Forza Horizon's $50 DLC season pass. It pledges to deliver an "immersive and authentic" rally racing experience on Colorado roads.
According to the content's announcement, the Forza Horizon Rally expansion brings "deeper ruts," "higher jumps" and new surface types. Additionally, it packs in new "rally-tuned" cars that feature co-driver calls and more.
Forza Horizon is in development at Turn 10 in collaboration with United Kingdom-based startup Playground Games. The new company has not yet shipped a game, but it has a formidable racing pedigree.
Founded by former Codemasters (F1 series) alums, Playground Games is staffed also by veterans from now-defunct studios Black Rock and Bizarre Creations. Those two studios created Split/Second and Blur, respectively, before being shut down.

You lucky people, you don't have to play with de french dubbed version of the game......as always, dubbed in France, so lame! I wonder when the game developpers will make their french versions of games to be dubbed in Québec, with a neutral french accent!
2 Like What a load of f!cking sh!t. How can they leave out "new surface types" from the retail version. This dlc cr@p is really starting to get on my t!ts. Lucky i have already played the demo and found it to be a massive disappointment that i will not be buying. Hopefully forza 5 will make up for it and i hope playground games have nothing to do with it.

As i grow up, i rapidly lose interest in the less realistic series i was loving.
Realistic racing games, that are so compelling and enjoyable are becoming a rarity and the Forza series remains imo the best.
Every new entry is a definite upgrade to the previous one.
Except this one, but Horizon is just a spin off, smth to replace what the NFS series used to be.
And its a great idea really, i preordered the game and i am not regretting this.
BUT, what M$ does now is a blatant rip off. Similar to what EA and Blizzard do.
They should be punished by tboth the fans and the related press, but unlike whats happening with the Japanese based companies, a very suspicious tolerance will kick in and the market will hype it and GS wont punish it with Resi 6 rates...
The rally part was advertised and promoted everywhere, it was even included in the demo, it was one of the core elements that added to the enhanced diversity of the promised expanded gameplay.
And now we learn that only a fraction of it will be available in the retail package, merely a demo for it and in order to savour the full experience you will have to play an extra 50% of the premioum value you already did...
Thats beyond evil and abusive, thats 1000% worse than the 3rd DLC costumes in SFvsTEKKEN, its almost as bad as paying 3 times the premiuom price to get all 3 campaigns in S2...
At least, it wont demand an always D2-like clause...

2 Like People can say that GT5 is not as great as it should have been. still GT4 launched in Dec 2004 and GT5 did not launch until Nov. 2010 while at the same time Forza 1- 4+ DLC and Passes, in additoon, now Forza Horizon+ Dlc are out with Forza 5 launching in 2013.
The cost of one not so great game GT5 and GT4 with ALL that is included cost is a LOT LESS that what has been spent on the Entire Forza series. ...... Yes there are more games but the increase in abilities in games are less over the Forza series BECAUSE it has come out EVERY 2 YEARS. WHICH is my ONLY complaint against the Forza series.
But this is not a bad idea IF Foza Horizon IF the game cost less than the $60.00 dollar price tag.
@Ravenlore_basic So your argument for Gran Turismo is that 2 games cost less than 4 games, 5 if you include Horizon? Uhh, yeah. You're right. And, if GT5 took 5 years to release, why was it not better than FM4, which took only 2? Even if they were similiar in rankings or reviews, the year differential does add up. Sony took longer to make a comparable game.

They take a chance by producing the game and retailing it for $60 and hope that people like it enough to buy expansions.. You have no idea how much financial risk comes from producing these games...
@Ravenlore_basic I was pretty upset when I heard a new Forza game was coming this year. I didn't want this series to be an annual thing like Call of Duty or Madden.
However, I can dig a spin-off. Hell, if Microsoft were more adventurous -- if we had the Microsoft from 2003 or 2004 -- Forza: Horizon probably would have been called Project Gotham 5 or something. I think MS just slapped the Forza name on this one to take advantage of the brand.

1 Like Ok, here's the thing, the article says people can get the $50 season pass and this will be included for no additional cost OR, for those not getting the season pass, they can purchase this dlc for $20. It makes perfect sense to me! I have read heaps of bla bla bla, people getting bent out of shape. This is and will be one the finest moments in racing we have yet experiences. Let's not forget what is being achieved here, open landscape, plenty of detailed cars, an advanced physics engine, super finds audio and visuals and lots of racing!! This is everything test drive unlimited wasn't able to be. ...and one more thing, this isn't turn 10, this is an assembled team turn 10 have collaborated with, that include code masters! So the off road stuff is sure to be awesome!!
1 Like You could probably get DiRT 3 for the same price -- probably less. Forza games are great, but the off-road sections of Forza: Horizon look lackluster -- much like Gran Turismo's rally sections. I'd take a dedicated Codemasters rally game.
@IceJester45 Have you played Dirt 3? Dirt has been utter crap since the Dirt 2 came out. The rally racing in GT5 was better then any of the recent Dirt games.
1 Like @NightDrifter05 To be honest, there are certain things about all the DiRT titles I don't like. The recent games feel too much like extreme sports titles and not enough like the kind of rally games the old Colin McRae titles were. However, to me, Gran Turismo 5's rally mode felt ... nothing at all like a rally mode. It was better than, say, Gran Turismo 2's rally mode, which felt almost exactly like its circuit racing. But, I thought DiRT 3 was a lot better.

1 Like @IceJester45 @NightDrifter05 Which is probably why Codemasters dropped Colin McRae's name off the games. They knew that hardcore ralliers wouldn't like them as much. Also, they were trying to expand their customer base, and extreme sports are popular these days.
Lol, first you buy all this DLC for FM games hook line and sinker, then complain about this? MS are jerks for even doing this, day one DLC is like a kick in the nads. This stuff was obviously worked on along side the game for it be ready as day one DLC. People keep buying this stuff and they'll keep outing this kind of non-sense. Just wait until the Goty edition comes out or just wait until it gets lower in price and the addon stuff won't seem like such a dare affair.
2 Like @SavageEvil What day 1 DLC? This DLC is 2 month's out Some people aren't poor and don't want to wait month's and sometimes a year to get a game. I will buy the game day 1, I will buy the $50 season pass day 1, and I will buy any other DLC that come's out next year that isn't covered under season pass.

I think I'll play Horizon more just because it's different but I don't like DLC, it's all stuff that should have been in the game......here's an idea instead of making packs with 5 cars why not just release packs with 12 cars, some racing courses and other stuff then price it at the $15 then maybe I might think it's more worth it, if your trying to sell me a bunch of hatchbacks you can forget it, try some exotics or American Muscle instead...I come for the power, the speed and the fun, there isn't anything fun about driving some small a$$ car.....

@MJ12-Conspiracy Nothing in your post had to be said because most of it isn't plausible. Do you know how much time it take's them to put a track into this game due to their extensive lighting engine? Do you realize how much time it takes for them to get the car modeled correctly, get the licenses, and get the sounds? And why should rally racing be in a game that isn't based around rally racing? It's only being added in the game because fan's asked for it. Would you rather them just not put it in because you think it's stupid? Maybe we think you're stupid so you should just stop posting.
@NightDrifter05 You really are a sheep if you think hacking up games and selling them off in parts is a good idea. Forza Horizon has offroad racing in it, it would totally make sense for them to add a Rally Racing option out of the box and not something that costs an extra $15. Also in regards to car packs and track packs, I don't give a f*** how long it takes them to do it but adding a $10 pack every month is dumb, Forza 4 in just 4 months jumped in price from $60 day one to well over $100 and that's not all the packs they did, there's a pack for roughly every month since it's release.....they're just squeezing money from people and idiots like you are letting them....

@MJ12-Conspiracy @NightDrifter05 You don't HAVE to buy DLC. So your argument about price jumps is somewhat invalid. However, I will agree that if someone wanted a particular car or cars than they would be forced to buy the pack...oh, wait. Turn 10 releases individual cars for purchase so you don't have to buy a whole DLC pack to get one or two cars. So, for this game, the anti-DLC argument is weakened somewhat. For other games, where you aren't allowed access to certain game types or modes without purchasing DLC (COD, BF, etc.), this argument would be pretty solid. But, I agree that when companies release DLC for games that are on the disc to begin with, the typical Day 1 DLC, it is a rip-off. But, game companies would not do these things, if they thought they could not get away with it. Nature of business. If there is a demand, they will supply.

Wow i was maybe thinking about getting this game but, now its going to have rally im in. Im a huge rally fan and no game has come close to the original DIRT but hopefully this wont disappoint.But im confused is it going to be standalone or require the horizon disc?

@Rockafella143 @lifemeister Those are bad game's. Look at Forza 4, Been out this long and is still $40. Good game's take over a year to drop in price and Forza is one of them that doesn't.
@NightDrifter05 You're right about that. I saw Forza 4 at Walmart for $40...but, that's retail. Online you can find Forza 4 for half that price, likely even less.
1 Like When you go to the store and buy Forza Horizon for 60 bucks you are getting the full game. you could only buy that disc and enjoy the game. If you finish playing that and feel you want more THEN go buy the DLC. Everyone has this sense of entitlement with games these days. The actual Forza Horizon game was probably finished a couple months ago with just some testing here and there to make sure it works. Meanwhile Turn 10 allocated resources towards post release development. Stop bitching people. Turn 10 isn't forcing you to buy anything. You don't even have to buy the game.
But for the rest of us that enjoy the game and are looking for a little more we are looking forward to Turn 10's take on rally racing.
Rally was included in the promotion for Forza horizon, that's why people think it should be included.
2 Like I don't understand why everyone gets butthurt and claims they're paying $60 for "half a game". Yes, there is additional stuff out there. You can either choose to spend MORE money on MORE stuff, or pay the sticker price and play what's included and be done with it. DLC isn't going anywhere now that developers have figured a way out to get more money out of their products. Some games I have happily bought every piece of DLC because I as the consumer felt it was worth buying. Other times, I have skipped the DLC because it didn't add anything for me. At the end of the day, if you don't like it, don't buy it. But don't think for a minute that DLC is going anywhere.
Personally, I prefer to wait for GOTY editions, the only problem then is that when I just start playing a GOTY game, my friends have already moved on to something else. And there we are, back to the economics of the situation: If the service/product being sold is valuable enough to you, then you will be willing to pay the price.
2 Like Those aren't "details". That's a vague description. DETAILS would be items such as: how many races? how many cars? how many hours of new gameplay? etc. etc. "It has rally cars" isn't detailing ****.
6 Like I think I'll put that $20 towards something else. Like my cellphone bill, or a car payment, or groceries. I don't get these publishers. They want to get as many people into gaming as possible, but then manipulate consumers with overpriced DLC. This is already at least a $100 game because of the season pass. Without the discount, who knows what the ultimate cost will be to play the "complete" Forza Horizon? Which, ten years ago would have been complete out of the goddamn box for just $60.
In the past year, I've seriously considered giving up gaming because of the rising costs to play as much as I used to. I'm really close to following through on that. So many of the more recent games I own I feel like I'm not fully enjoying, because I can't afford all the crap they tack on with inflated costs. I sit there knowing there's a piece of it missing, or knowing if I play online I will be missing out on something the majority of players shifted to, like a different mode or maps.
4 Like Jesus devs, stop announcing dlc before games are released, it just pisses people off, its fine if you want to do dlc that early (its actually not) but at least wait a few weeks after release to annouce it to at least hide that you're ripping us off.

You're not making any sense, they are merely providing incentive for people to get the season pass, but also have the decency to offer the content to those who choose not to.. There's a complete racing experience in the most basic of packages, the additional content will cost more.. If you can't afford $20 over the next few months maybe you should reconsider you're priorities financially and get away from gaming...
