FIFA 12 booted from top spot after most successful Xbox 360 racing game launch in UK history; Just Dance 3 debuts in third.
Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 4 has ended FIFA 12's two-week reign atop the UK charts, debuting at number one. Forza 4's critical acclaim meant that it managed the biggest-ever launch week for an Xbox 360 racing game, but it still only beat FIFA 12 (the sales of which were down 63 percent from last week) by a little over 700 sales, according to UK sales-tracking body Chart-Track.
Just Dance 3 rounded off the top three, with the Wii version following the trail blazed by the record-breaking Just Dance 2 on Nintendo's platform. In its launch week, more than 11 copies were sold on the Wii for every one sold on Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 version is not due for release until December.
This week saw Gears of War 3 continue its drop down the charts, falling from fourth to sixth, while Dark Souls dropped from third to seventh. There were also big debuts for Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 and Jonah Lomu Rubgy Challenge, debuting at fifth and 10th, respectively. Zumba Fitness continues to feature in the top 10, this week at number eight, with id Software's Rage and Codemasters' F1 2011 rounding off the top 10.
And thus the first signs of Stagnation for the Just Dance Series begin to show. Not even outselling the 3 week old Fifa 12 despite it now being a Multiplatform title. In a years or two time, everyone would have gotten tired by it and I don't have to hear about another stupid Just Dance game ever again! Also, Skylanders didn't even make the top 10, this pleases me.
Forget Uncharted 3 i hope it doesn't reach the top at UK because of it's repetitive visuals and gameplay!
well forza series came out from nowhere at 2005 beating all **** from gran turismo series, it was better than gran turismo 4 almost in all ways except quantity of cars and tracks, nowadays forza series is still on top, forza 4 is not big improvement from superb forza 3, but its really hard to improve such a good game at same platform, gran turismo 5 was totally disappointment, 100 types of toyota yaris or other cars made 1000 quantity :), elite and standard cars segmentation biggest nonsense, standard cars looks awful, no cockpit view, and its 2010 racing simulator!!! and 6 years of development still left gran turismo 5 like gran turismo 4 upgrade, forza is the best now for sure
Absoloutely brilliant and definately well deserved! This and DiRT3 are my 2 favourite racers of all time! Thanks Turn10 : )
"Most successful Xbox 360 racing game launch in UK history" Um... that actually doesn't sound all that impressive when you consider the relatively small size of the UK games market and the fact that it has the proviso of "Xbox 360 racing game" only. I take it it hasn't had similarly record breaking performance anywhere else in the world then? Doesn't really matter though, every release these days is mere foreplay for Skyrim and Uncharted 3 now. Only a couple of weeks to go chaps!
@Justforvisit Damnnnnn straight @Sirbobislost Haha yeah.. good point admittedly. Great time of the year to be a gamer! :)
Ive never been a huge racing fan and I've never tried a Forza game, but it looks so d**n good, I'm thinking of trading in RAGE for it. Decisions, decisions......
@SolidTy - Agreed. I think it's when the suits took over and decided that holiday was the only worthwhile time of year. They've royally messed up this time round though by losing Star Wars Kinect until 'early 2012'... I'll bet that wasn't in their original plan!
I wish we still got detailed sales reports over here in america. You guys get weekly charts? Im jealous :/ Anyway its good to see a slate of mostly good games in the top ten for a change.
@warhawk-geeby November? Batman is out Friday and the BF3 next week there's going to be a new No1 everyweek (nearly)
