Bugbear Entertainment releases teaser video for upcoming demolition derby racing game for PC and new platforms.
FlatOut and Ridge Racer Unbounded developer Bugbear Entertainment today released a teaser video for a new demolition derby racing game. According to the developer, the entire video (below) is composed of in-game footage.
"We are returning to our roots to make this game, re-interpreting what initially excited us way back in FlatOut days. It’s full-contact motor sports with cars built for crashing," the company said in a statement.
According to Bugbear, fans have long clamored for a "proper" demolition derby game and thanks to technological advances, such a game is now possible. "We're taking destruction racing to a level you've never seen before," the company said.
"We want to make you feel the carnage."
The game is currently in development under the working title "next car game" for PC and yet-to-be-announced platforms. For more on Bugbear's latest body of work, check out GameSpot's review of Ridge Racer Unbounded.
Man, i have over 300 hours in flatout2 on the PC, playing destruction derby modes with arcade style boost with buses, trucks, regular cars etc was fun as hell. Not to mention racing on those high speed number 8 style tracks with crazy insane carnage at the cross section. Man, those were the days, CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME.
P.S. Hope they include the stunt modes where you eject your guy out of the window, fun as shit!
I am quite interested. The last demolition derby game I have played is TD: Eve of Destruction, and that was a long time ago.
I liked FlatOut, and I also liked an old destruction derby game I played on PS1 years ago. Sounds interesting. I always like racing games with good crashes. Still waiting for a new Road Rash game though.
finally.. i wasnt much of a fan of FlatOut but Destruction Derby was easily one of my favorite on earlier Playstations, so, i hope they can get this one right.. Dirt Showdown was mostly a letdown...
Cool! Flatout Ultimate Carnage was cool, and so was Ridge Racer Unbounded (first Ridge Racer I actually liked). My only problem with unbounded on pc is the brightness settings didn't work, making the game too dark, and the green tint filter was awful. ENB mod fixes it pretty well, though.
The last game was great, it was a cool throw back to the ps one demolition racers. But only up until you had to launch the driver through the windscreen at a big stupid target. It was as if the developers where half way through the game when someone walked into the office with a huge pile of crack.
I just get rid of Dirt Showdown, and a new derby game is coming out? Both the irony and this new game, are awesome!
Man this is a gap in the market thats been vacant for a good long while!... although that could be for a reason
I played the shit outta Flatout 1, that game stole a good chunk of my childhood. I would be willing to donate part of my adult life towards a new Flatout.
@Psycold Same here. Played FlatOut 2 a lot as well on PSP, definitely want a new FlatOut if it's good.
Did anybody else quickly glance and saw Fallout Dev and had a near heart attack thinking it was a release date for Fallout 4?
The last good demolition derby racer I played was Test Drive Eve Of Destruction, good game. I never liked Flat Out....
...Flatout ultimate carnage is one of the best arcade/destrucion racing game ever created! .. a new flatout game is good news for all the fans....
I liked Flat Out and used to be a huge fan of Destruction Derby games, back on PS1 days. I'll have an eye on this one.

FlatOut 2 seems a little too slick for its own good in spots, but it still manages to provide plenty of destructive racing fun.
