First new Smash. Bros trailer at E3

Masahiro Sakurai confirms debut trailer for upcoming Wii U and 3DS Smash Bros. game to be shown during Nintendo Direct on June 11.

The first trailer for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS Smash Bros. title will be shown as part of next week's Nintendo Direct to take place June 11 during the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Sora Ltd. designer Masahiro Sakurai revealed the news on Twitter today, but did not give any further details on what the video will show.

The new Wii U and 3DS Smash Bros. is currently in development at Sora Ltd. in collaboration with Namco Bandai Games. It was announced during E3 2011.

At the time, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said the Wii U and 3DS versions will work together on both platforms "in some fashion," though this has not been clarified further to date.

The most recent Smash Bros. title was 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the original Wii. The game has sold 11.49 million copies worldwide as of March 31.

This is awesome, I'm so addicted to Melee for my gamecube and I can't wait to see the new smash. Hopefully they have Chrom or Robin as playable characters.

@Drilbit777 Chrom will definitely replace Ike just like Lucario will probably be replaced as well (I'm thinking Zoroark). I'm so excited for this game...

@AndCarlsen @Drilbit777 I would like to see also see lucina in the game too but she would probably just be a clone kinda like Roy and Marth in melee.

@Drilbit777 @AndCarlsen Well, it's not like they don't have similar characters, right. With a roster of almost 40 characters some of them might be similar.

I can't wait for it. I love Smash Bros. and the Melee reveal and the Brawl trailer were so awesome. I have really high hopes for this. Hopefully they put Megaman in the game.

So just because you say something it should happen? Right. June 11 is not today. So waiting is what has to happen. If you can not wait then nothing changes because today is not the day of the direct.

Nintendo, if you bothered to release a new Smash Bros. game like even every two years, I would always buy it.  Instead, I have realized that there is no reason to buy your consoles for the one game I would play.
