First Look: Super Runabout
Climax has released screenshots and details of their next Dreamcast title.
As reported earlier on GameSpot, Climax has announced Super Runabout for the Sega Dreamcast. Today, we bring you screenshots and details of the game. Players will be able to drive freely around San Francisco. They can even drive through hotel lobbies, jump over skyscrapers, or crash into glass displays in a boutique. The game will have an estimated 30 cars available, some of which can be obtained by completing a mission or collecting particular items on the map.
Players can look for special items, which resemble letters of the alphabet, on the driveway. Depending on the which items they have obtained, players can unlock hidden special features such as secret passages, hidden cars, VMS minigames, and options to eliminate obstructions on the road.
Players are expected to play through numerous scenarios and missions on the same map. Sometimes, these scenarios cross over others. Depending on the scenario, the main character, the supporting cast, and the setting will vary. The game progresses as the players completes more missions, but sometimes, they will encounter unexpected events in between. One scenario involves a father, his daughter, and his friend running a private management company. The other scenario involves two cops attempting to capture gang members.
Super Runabout is expected for a winter release in Japan.
