FIFA 11 first-week sales hit 2.6 million

I would normally agree with you but the changes on teh PC version is definately dramatic enough to warrent a high score for the PC version only. its finally a next gen title on the PC. thats worth a good score for most people that have a PC.

It's weird how everyone who hates football here calls it 'soccer'.

Dont understand how an updated FiFA 10 roster and a personality can get a review score the same as an epic or commercially successful game like God of War 3,LBP,CoD4/MW2,AC:2.It beggars belief,years of developement go into such games but mere 1 year cycle with small changes(most taken from previous games)can score similar scores?

PES, I'm with FIFA now, but you will always be the "ex" I could never fully get over........

What is so special about a new FIFA game? All that changes is the roster and the character models. This applies to almost every sport game

Forcing someone to watch a game of soccer could be considered 'torture' in many sporting event circles. It's just so boring, most games end nil-nil with hardly any shots on goal.

@japanesegoth.... I agree that the bickering is silly, however, I do still think it's funny how American's will insist that "their" Football, is real Football, and "our" Football is soccer. Considering virtually the rest of the entire world calls "our" Football, Football, or at least an equivalent word in their native language (Voetbal, Futbol, Futebol etc etc), I find it humorous that American's have the audacity to presume they're right... team that with the fact that "our" Football was invented first by a long shot. But, whatever.... being British I automatically prefer "our" Football, but I still enjoy "their" Football. Two very different sports that are fun to watch in their own ways....

I bought FIFA 10 and ended up breaking the game in frustration. I just got FIFA 11 and after playing it for a while, there are many subtle differences that make it so much better than last years. It seems like the engine has been retooled, which is a nice change cause most EA sports games are just new cover designs and thats it.

i like how whenever soccer comes up, someone always has to find a way to bring up how they think americans are stupid for calling football "soccer". grow up. and spelling and words change over time. do you think the english you speak now is the same as it was 1000 years ago?

Hehehe even I got a copy this year since the last football game I had bought was Fifa09.

I'm not even a big soccer fan but FIFA is so much fun to play, I just played this demo and it was awesome

There really isn't anything that makes this game greater than any other fifa game ever...it's just that last year's was bad so everyone wants a good soccer game this year...

I never thought I'd see the day that Fifa football was better than PES, but it has been so for the last 2 games (3 if you count the excellent world cup title this year too)... I loved the really early Fifa games with 96 and the great Mega CD version being real highlights of the 16 bit days... :)

I`ve been a die-hard PES fan since I can remember but now Fifa`s just too good to ignore, EA`ve really done a great job this year.

I bought FIFA instead of PES. I'm sorry PES, but you haven't nearly put in enough effort the past few years. Although at times you're amazing (best gameplay, great passing and realism in movement), you simply let me down too often (rubbish online play, inept goalkeepers, stupid referee decisions). FIFA will treat me right (no online lag!)

I tried Fifa 11 and PES 11 Demos and of course i'm still getting PES 11 as usuall Fifa 11 is so simple PES 11 for hardcore of course in my opinion :)

The technicality of football is significant throughout all the 90 minutes of it. Unlike gridiron there are no continuous stoppages to choose which play to use, whats going wrong or analyse what play the other team is using. The continuity of the game forces players to adapt and read each other for a full 45 minutes a half and not a couple of seconds. By no means am I putting gridiron down, however I really do not see the relevance of people coming to here and displaying their ignorance about football. Lets enjoy both games for what they are

i have come up with an amzing solution (mainly cuz brits are gunna lose this fight soon) If you call it soccer buy PES if not get FIFA. Sometimes i think that i should be a diplomat but as a final note i agree that not having Us in most words is wierd but it was americans that moderanised old english replacing ks with cs such as in the word music used to be musik

Look up the etmology of the word 'soccer', and you'll find out that it originated in England, not America. On another note, I really enjoyed Fifa 08 but have yet to buy another Fifa game. I mean, c'mon, who cares if the rosters change, nobody knows any of these players anyways. And I heard Fifa 11 has a lot of bugs, so I'll pass. I'm going to buy either Fifa 09 or 10 used and save myself money.

can I have like $1 million? You're not gonna miss it EA, that's pocket change for you. but it would help a whole load for me.

You can simply call the other football "American Football", although I doubt how much of it is actually played with the feet ---actually most sports are played with feet if running or even skating is invovled

@Kabaro No. It's called Soccer because of "You Americans". A small region in England called it Soccer because of the original term "Association football"; roughly 0.1% of the population. It is not our fault that a word that was used by 0.1% of the country and has since died in England is now used by 99.9% of Americans. You chose to adopt the word Soccer merely to be different from the rest of the world and for the simple reason that your pride got in the way of renaming what you call Football. Despite the fact you don't use your god damned feet! Football 1-0 American Football / Soccer

@ Sirbobislost: actually the word "soccer" was invented by british people. Look it up. But personally I dont really care. it's just a word. just thought I'd say it for debae purposes. I dont have the game. I dont really like soccer that much anyway. I just hope that it looks and plays better then the one from last year because that looked like a half assed created game.

That's rather a bold statement from a country that has difficulty placing the U in the word colour (take note of the spelling please) and for reasons the rest of the world don't understand over pronounce most words that start with an I for example why is it I-raq or I-talion or I-ran? But ofc it must be our fault that our own sport got renamed outside our own country (sarcasm by the way)

Only a few 19th century Oxford rich kids people called it soccer (and called rugby rugger), the British masses called it football, and had no knowledge/ recollection of this "soccer" word. 2] Lots of countries ?! Meaning USA, Canada, Australia (at times), (at times) S. Africa and New Zeeland is only 5 countries, that's not a lot. 3] Read the above.

I see monopoly can destroy a franchise. While NHL and FIFA improved so much every year, Madden is always more of the same. :(

God I this "soccer" word nonsense. It's called football or association football to correct, soccer is the nickname for AMATEUR upper-class (association) football, not for professional (association) football.

If you get past the lackluster defending for User AI Teammates this game is fairly good. The unrealistic jostling and shoulder grabbing is an eyesore though. Very nice numbers for this title. Now onto Black Ops next Month and then Finally Gran Turismo 5. Oh.. i can't wait. :D
