Multiplayer venue that perturbed some Muslim gamers for its use of holy writings in a bathroom playable again on PS3; no word on other platforms.
The Favela map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has returned. MP1st reports that a new 17MB update for the PlayStation 3 version of the game has brought back the controversial multiplayer venue. It is not clear when the update will roll out for the Xbox 360 or PC.
Earlier this month, a Muslim gamer pointed out in a video that two paintings were hung in the map's bathroom that feature a quote from the Muslim prophet Muhammad, which reads "Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty." He explained that it is forbidden for Islamic holy teachings to be featured in bathrooms and sought an apology from Infinity Ward, as well as the removal of the content.
Infinity Ward parent company Activision did apologize and thanked the user for bringing the matter to its attention.
As evidenced in the paintings above, both picture frames have been edited. They no longer display the religious text, but rather have been blackened to display nothing at all.

7 Like Wow! A lot of ppl r fighting here and insulting each other?s religion. First of all, I saw the video and there were some paintings but the quote only written on the two paintings that were in the bathroom, which means Activision 100% know what that means and meant to put it in order to insult Islam and at the same time they want to take money from them, so that why they deleted the quote from the map because if they didn?t do so, they will lose a lot of fans and money because most ppl who play COD r from middle east. So we need everyone to calm down & stop fighting, each group of ppl has their belief. And of course it is wrong to make a movie which insults Prophet Mohammed or other religions, and at the same time it is so wrong to riot or kill other ppl because of a silly movie (and this is against the real belief of Islam)
5 Like @CIA_BOSS I agree, these frames were the only ones that had that, it can't be coincidence, even if they wanted a designed frame, they knew it looked arabic cuz they made arabic maps as well in iraq i think, so the arabic writing did not match the pictures at all if an arabic themed frame is what they were goin for, say what you want, they knew, or at least the lvl designer knew, maybe the big shots didnt see it but the lvl designer did.

Now on to the rest of what you say, yes there was a movie badmouthing Muslims, yes there was a french article making fun of Muslims. You know what else there was ? Christians, Jews, Buddhists Taoists and so many other groups that are made fun of on a daily basis. You know what the difference is between them and Islam in the middle east at the momment ? they did not riot in the streets killing people because someone badmouthed them. You said what if muslims made fun of christians/jews (like they NEVER DO i know right ?) with their own anti christian/jew film ? NOTHING. There would be some people that would be pissed off and curse, maybe punch a wall or write a stupid letter, but there would not be nation wide rioting and beatings/murder because of it.
I dont want to generalize the whole Muslim religion, I have a few close friends that are muslim, they pray and celebrate every holiday, fast etc. You want to know what their reactions were when they knew about that video ? "yeah what ever, you want to play some basketball ?" The Middle east and its populace needs to grow up and stop acting like a little child because they dont get the candy at the cash register or because someone called them a mean name.
