The night and day effects of the sun peeking through in the morning or setting couldn't be beat in FC2. Can't wait to see what Ubisoft has cooked up for this one. FC2 had some of the best fire effects in any game ever.
Two Canadian action performers list work on a third entry in Ubisoft's first-person shooter series; franchise has been dormant since 2008.
The Far Cry series has been dormant since Far Cry 2 was released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in October of 2008. Now, however, it appears new life is being breathed into the franchise.
Two Canadian stuntmen have listed Far Cry 3 as a project they've contributed to on their resumes (captured via Google Docs by Superannuation). According to Lee Villeneuve's resume, he worked as a motion capture stunt performer on Far Cry 3.
Far Cry 2--which has sold over 1 million units--is a quasi-sequel to the Crytek-developed original was released for PCs in 2004. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and traded in the original's tropical locale for the African savanna, replete with megalomaniacal warlords, destructible environments, and dynamic weather effects.

Well if they instroduce a multiplayer aspect to the game it would add a lot more to it. Have to say far cry 2 did get repetitive in the end,i'm sure they improve on it,anyways thump's up ubi :)
Far Cry 3 is gonna be a killer thats for sure. Far Cry 2 was amazing, sure it was not perfect but it still puts a lot of games that are currently being released to shame. Graphicswise its still one of the very BEST Oh and if its in the African Savannah again please put in some hostile lions, snakes and hyenas that attack on sight XD
Dormant no its been 3 years thats normal time for a sequel its just stupied cod releases a new one every year. I would buy Farcry 3 day one!
franchise dormat cuz FC2 sucked and they couldn't get enough financing for this one. They should just come up with a new IP before wasting any money.
Far Cry 2 should have a different name. The first was much much better, the second not so good, but it had nothing to do with the story of Far Cry 1 and this is more important to me.
Far Cry 2 really did have some disappointments in it. I was surprised that it did not carry over the survival gameplay elements from Far Cry Instincts which would have been very useful. For example, you could sneak up behind an enemy and stab him in the back. There was also the ability to set traps on trees and planting claymore mines in the ground. Let's just hope this next game will improve more on the gameplay.
Lets hope this turns out good. FarCry 2 was not what Ubisoft promised....Well not completely anyways. It was disappointing imo, and I expected a lot more. I hated how more than half the time, you couldn't do what the gameplay trailers showed, because of how the Ai could spot you from a mile away, even with a sniper.
radar tracking scoped -non respawning- enemies from FC1 + Atmosphere, health system, diverse locale and exploration elements from FC2 = the perfect Far Cry game. But they better goddamn patch it this time. FC2 is begging for a single patch. The weapon decaying i could take or leave- would be a lot better if we were able to at least clean them ourselves.
I won a $4800 computer because of 1 map I made for FC2 during a Intel contest haha! Can't want to map for FC3!
I realize this game has some minor problems but the complainers please just take a second to play it. It had problems with over-respawning enemies, repetitive missions, and a lack of much to do but so (the missions). But please this game was awesome. The multiplayer is great. The map maker is amazing. And the single player was pretty cool despite those problems it had. It was also a new twist on the FPS genre so take a second to at least give it some respect for that and not following Call of Duty. And to the Crytek fans: The original Far Cry was great. I like all the Far Crys. But realize Crytek let Ubi have it and they wouldn't of gave it to bad hands. It's in good hands and Far Cry 2 was just the start. It was a change, changes aren't very subtle at first but after awhile you get to like them very much. I loved Far Cry 2. I bought it for both PC and 360 and also encouraged others to try it. I built numerous maps and have spent tons of time in the map maker. I also plan to release a massive map right before E3 that I have been working on for a year now. I also played through the campaign a few times completely. Here's to a great Far Cry 3!
Great news, I started playing Farcry2 all over again since the problem with the PSN started, great single player game, and can't wait for the third installment.
Sounds cool. Hope Ubisoft Montreal is on assignment again, I wouldn't trust any other branch of that company...
Here's hoping for a good story so I can actually enjoy the game. The gameplay and multiplayer were awesome, but the story was a torture to get through.
Far Cry 3 needs to come out of hiding. I hope the third game will incorporate elements of the first two games with an even deeper level editor.
Guys, obviously they have learnt a great deal since Far Cry 2. Don't bash the game until you have honestly played it.
I actually got into Farcry via the second title, which i absolutly loved. Setting up ambushes, the motar, starting fires (which if done correctly could be used for afore mentioned ambushes) the whole game was absolutly amazing. So that made me go back and see what the first was like.....Hated it! terrible graphics, terrible story and whats with the lizard thing?? If its a spin off or sequel to FC2 i'll be buying it, if its anything to do with the original far cry i'll be stearing clear!
ok so is this actually going to be a sequel to farcry1 this time? because crysis1 was more of a sequel and thats just based on both being set on a island
I hope it wont be in urban setting like Crysis 2 and that it will be like first Far Cry,with big levels, but not open world game.BTW I hope for some better story this time too.First Far Cry had a pretty good storyline.
I got Far Cry 2 around the time it came out and still haven't finished it. The boring travel across the jungle with respawning enemies everywhere doesn't motivate me to want to play it. I'll get through it someday, but one hour per month is about as much as I can stomach. The multiplayer and map design was pretty good though.
Let's face it, the only Far Cry worth playing was the original PC version. That was amazing. If they can only capture what made that game great, I would be all in for FC3.
Why didn't people like #2? i loved it. It had a few flaws, and if they were all fixed in 3 it would be a near perfect game. (The respawning enemies, no animals in Africa, and no co-op were really all that bugged me). But overall i loved Farcry 2. The multiplayer had the create a map and was perhaps the most under-rated multiplayer of this generation! It was not really a sequel to Farcry 1, (Crysis really was), so i wonder what #3 will be?
Second one played horribly on the 360, so I couldn't get into it. I'm sure it was a good game on other platforms though. Hopefully the third will feel better.
This is funny because I've actually been playing through BOTH Far Cry 1 and 2 lately. Haha. I love both games although they're both COMPLETELY different. I've gotta say that I hope Ubisoft continues in the direction they went with Far Cry 2. Crytek made Crysis and that is essentially a sequel to the original Far Cry (that they made) and I feel like Ubisoft wanted to fully create their own type of franchise with the second game. Crytek has made great sequels to the original Far Cry in the form of their own series Crysis. I hope Ubisoft makes their own wonderful sequel with this 3rd game. I know I'll be looking forward to it.
need to do same as far cry 2, with bigger area, best graphics, better action, far cry 2 was such a tremendous game with a lot of stuff to do in different ways, far cry 2 have big replay value and its much better then first one, if they gonna do good AI, interesting environments and decent gameplay it will be one of the best shooters around, please just dont do linear game it will riun everything
If they iron out a few of the problems with FC2 and add more variety to the missions, it'll be a sure buy for me.
A more structured story mode (a' la FarCry 1) and less of this free roaming business. I want a tight gameplay experience with motivation to keep doing what I'm doing.
Hopefully not every single person in the world will try to kill you on the next FarCry.. "Now, no-one knows your working for us so you'll have to be careful out there" That was the same message for every mission.. Seriously.. Kind of got annoying. You got shot at for just driving a car through the outback! Geesh!! Tough crowd!
if they get rid of the checkpoints that respawn vertually instantly after you kill them then im in, hell if they patched Farcry2 to increase the respawn time on the checkpoints i would actually finish it, was a damn good game apart from that
