The creators of Lionhead Studio's marquee Fable role-playing game franchise are off to tell another story. Brothers Dene and Simon Carter have formed United Kingdom-based game studio Another Place Productions, where they will serve as creative director and technical director, respectively.
Along with the Carter brothers, Another Place Productions is staffed by former Lionhead Studios developers John McCormack (art director), Guillaume Portes (technical director), and Jeremie Texier (production director).
The company's website offers no indication as to what the developer is working on, but when the Carter brothers left Lionhead last year, the pair indicated they were keen on building games for downloadable fronts like Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, Steam, and mobile.
Another Place Productions' mission statement reads, "Our goal is to create high-quality, meaningful experiences that will inspire audiences worldwide."
The Carter brothers founded Big Blue Box, the developer that created the Fable series shortly before being acquired by Lionhead and Microsoft. The franchise has sold more than 12 million units, across three core installments. A new Fable entry--Fable: The Journey--is in development for the Kinect.

@cjburnfist Yeah--he is just lucky. *rolls eyes* He didn't always have those resources--he wasn't born rich. You are just like so many that think it isn't that hard. You are over estimating your abilities and under-estimating the ability needed. It takes a lot more than just some $$ to make a good game.
@cjburnfist I have played all 3 fables. I have seen his comments. I can see how some people are upset by his descriptions and claims versus the final product. I also see how they have changed version to version. Some things are better, some things are worse. As for getting my finger out of my arse and quit acting like I know anything---well I do know that he has more talent than you. Or me. Or both of us combined. I thought 2 was better than 1 and 3 was the least of the 3. Though both 1 and 2 had their parts that were better than the other, I thought 2 was better overall. as for being a pure jackass--your criticisms of Molyneux are pure jackassery.
Fable is simple and boring enough as it is. I can't even imagine how bad the kinect version will be.
After I played Fable III my expectations for fable hit the ground. This Kinect release is the fatal blow as far as I'm concerned. Fable LC was one of the most amazing games on original Xbox. They really need to go back to that formula.
If they will make Fable sequel better then it will be great...If going to be same crappy game i really do not care. Im desperate to heard something about B&W 3 or Fable: LC 2 :(
I'm disappointed that they're looking at "building games for downloadable fronts" because I'm rarely a fan of those kinds of games. But, I imagine it's easy and quick money for the new studio, so I bet it's a good busines move. I just hope that after they establish themselves, they'll put their talents into something epic like Fable.
@cjburnfist Right, like you have any idea how it is inside Lionhead, or as if you had 1/10 the talent of Molyneux.
Fable 2 was probably the highlight of this series. Fable 3 just seemed like a dumb downed Fable 2...how that is even possible, I don't know. Now the newest one is a kinect game, the series gets more casual with every addition.
I wish best of luck to this new studio. May your first games be a hit for gamers and also may you never make another installment of the fable franchise. My god the game gets more dumbed down in every sequel.
I've never been able to get into games with a silent protagonist. It feels far too bland. I don't need a character to be voiced, but having dialogue/conversation options makes things a lot more interesting. I enjoyed screwing around in the first Fable game, but I wasn't able to enjoy any of the subsequent games.
So, what ever happened to Fable being amazing? The first, lost chapters, and second were great, but the third was just awful. Anyone know what's up with that?
i know that this isn't the point of discussion but has to be said, death stream. i am not against down loadable games i'm against them trying to make all games that way, not everyone can afford or can't get for some reason or another hi-speed internet meaning no xboxlive and what if the company that makes a game ex. obsidian' bethesda' 2k' gos out of business then if something happens to our copy of the game do you really think that their going to keep their severs on so you can get a new one (buy the way i know those companies are still in business just making a point) and those are just two examples.anyway no buddy cares if they make down loadable games, we just want them to keep making physical copies of the games.
@halosqrrl I agree to an extent, Fable 2 and 3 had some fantastic ideas in them (and some horrible ones too), but the execution of them was pretty damn poor. Not to mention the whole morale choice system of Fable 2 and 3 is just completely botched. For example, as king in Fable 3 you have to make the decision between draining a lake and strip mining it for gold, or leaving it for it's natural beauty and losing money to save 600,000 people. And in Fable 3's mind leaving the lake for the rich people and letting 600,000 people die is the good choice.... What the balls Fable?
Downloadable games are the future. What it means to be a downloadable title is shifting dramatically right now. I Am Alive and Alan Wake are setting the stage right now for a digital distibution future. And more and more devs are doing what these guys are doing and forming independent studios focused on digitally distributed games.

The last Fable was dissapointing!It was kinda fun but when i think back...it was very limited in everything.Its a shame...so much potential and so much rushed and undone.Not buying a Fable blindly anymore!
Wonder how soon they will sell themselves to a bigger company, like Lionhead and Bullfrog did.
I just want them to stop ruining Fable. It's actually painful to watch them mutilate and destroy the series. Fable 1 had so much damn potential and they just MAIMED the crap out of it. It's like the Indiana Jones South Park episode.
Either to clear up their name from bad Fable games or to start getting rich by making cheap yet "meaningful" iOS and Android games.
@YoungSinatra25 I definitely agree, the first fable was brilliant and actually had a way of making me want to keep playing through all of the other side quests. The last two though have just been boring and I ended up finding that the buying of houses was more important to the game than anything else. Really dull after a while...

TBH Fable is a rather unspectacular series so it stands to reason the creators jumping ship for greener pastures. Fable's one of the few series that actually has gotten worse over time.

i thought it was obvious they were gonna create games for mobiles, you know, because Another Place Production is APP for short.
R.I.P. Fable While hope for Lionhead died a while ago, maybe this new studio can accomplish new things.
