Eurocom shutting down

SOMEONE HAS TO HELP PRESERVING THE GAME "SPHINX" DEVELOPED BY EUROCOM AND PUBLLISHED BY THQ.

I checked the list of games they created. The last game of there's I liked was James Bond: Nightfire, released Nov 18, 2002. Now I'm no accountant, economist, or game developer, but if it's been over 10 years since your last decent game, chances are you're going to fail. It's too bad they stopped making quality and started pumping out crap; I remember playing most of there games pre-2002. I'm especially disappointed since they made Duke Nukem 64. That game was awesome.

All the games made by Eurocom sucked, so I won't miss them. Lame of them to try to say they closed because of "a de line in console games". No, it was because they were crap developers.

Well its been fun. So long Eurocom.

\it is a shame but it has nothing to do with any decline in any gaming industry like the headlines would state it has to do with the shitty playstation 2 style games with linear world modeling rat style pathways an no open world like james bond game there are a few to many steps behind the current generation of games and gamers 

It's a shame, I loved Goldeneye on Wii but after hearing what people thought of 007 Legends this is expected. 

Console and PC games in steep decilne? Where?

I'm pretty sad, this dev team is where I'm from, and the loss of Free Radical and now Eurocom is a real shame.

Maybe if they made decent games they wouldn't be closing shop. Development studios close all the time, this one has a track record of crappy games so it's amazing they lasted this long.

There isn't a steep decline in PC and Console Games, just yours. I feel for the staff that have lost their jobs but you aren't going to sell a game if it isn't up to standard.

I think the actual reason was "we made 007 legends, it was really bad, and it cost a lot of money" rather than a "steep decline in console and PC games." The only decline is that less people are buying really crappy games! I really enjoyed Goldeneye Reloaded and was excited when Legends came out, but then I heard it was extremely bad so I didn't bother.

Crap game = No sale = steep decline.

Good game = Day 1 pickup = money in the bank.

That sucks. They were making some great games lately like Dead Space Extraction and Goldeneye for Wii. I was surprised how terrible Legends turned out considering the critical praise of its predecessor. Of course I cannot forget the classics like Sphinx and Nightfire.

Yep, it's the fault of everything BUT your mediocre company and its crappy games. Sure.

Man, this "steep decline" in the demand for low-quality titles is startling! Which mediocre company will be next?!

A shame to see them go...they were just cranking out titles at the end there to stay alive. Bummer for those let go. Good luck.

007: Legends I'm sure even the devs at Eurocom knew was going to be bad.  What's more, they knew they were going to release it so close to many other blockbusters, namely Black Ops II, Halo 4, Assassins Creed III, and many others.  They knew it couldn't have been a worse time to release such a terrible game, and yet they did nothing about it.  Pretty much, this is the video game equivalent of releasing the movie Mars Needs Moms the same week as a new Batman film and The Avengers.  And for that I can't have any sympathy for you guys being laid off, I wish you good luck holding up cardboard "WILL DEVELOP GAMES FOR FOOD" signs.

P.S. I've written to the developers of the upcoming Tomb Raider game to cut their losses and cancel it in light of GameSpot's criticism of that game's PREVIEW - which is substantial in itself.  That game I don't just THINK will lose money, it WILL lose money.  

Wow...these guys made some great stuff that goes waaaay back. That sucks. Good luck to those guys.

Twine,Duke Nukem Zero hour, two copies of Golden eye reloaded and Dead space extraction, my Eurocom games.I was looking forward to how they'd use Wii U too.I hope the guys with the talent find new employment, because they Did make some great games (not all but the ones above i still play-wii games look fab on wii u)

I remember these guys working alongside big games companies such as Midway, Visceral Games, Gearbox Software, Shiny Entertainment and others to develop different ports for different systems. And how good those ports turned out to be. In recent years, they didn't have as many great projects, and this is the inevitable result, hope they all find employment though.

Being a game designer in the UK is much more difficult in contrast to the US and Canada, especially when huge companies like EA & Activision are closing down all the studios. And here we have cocky gamers that shun them for their efforts.

I'll play some TWINE in the morning, and do them the courtesy of pretending it was the only game they ever made. I'm sure that's how they'll always want to be remembered.

I can understand that it is eurocoms fault for releasing rubbish games, living just outside of Derby myself I am slightly disappointed that yet another for sale sign will be going up outside of yet another building. I live in Duffield and we have around 12 shops of one road but out of those 12 6 have for let/sale outside of them.

It's always easy to blame the consumers for not buying your stuff when most of your stuff is not that good. They had some good games but most is kinda eh.

So if i took a dump in a paper bag and sold it in my restaurant, then subsequently went out of business; it would mean that the consumer base isn't buying 'food' like they used to? It probably would have nothing to do with the fact that I'm trying to sell a dump in a bag to people who are expecting food? Amazing.

Looks like Eurocom's best game, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, will NEVER get a sequel now with both them shutting down and THQ's financial troubles. Sad as I really love that game and would love a sequel.

Steep decline in their quality more likely.

Blaming the fact that their games were utter shite on console game demand being in decline. Just get out.

I hate to see people lose their jobs but....I don't think consoles are in decline. I think people are wising up. They look on metacritic before they buy a $60 game. When your game has an abysmal average on metacritic because lets be frank, 007 Legends was a shamelessly lazy, buggy, and ugly game, people avoid it. This was their own doing.

So its safe to say that there won't be any patches coming for 007 Legends any time in our immediate future.

Sure it had nothing to do with the lackluster lineup your company offered. A squall of bad ideas. Developers can learn from this mess.

Shame, they may have never been able to recreate  Goldeneye's success but I did like TWINE and Nightfire. Also I did like Cruisin World as well.
