Microsoft updates backward-compatibility list with 80-plus games, bringing total to more than 450.
When the Xbox 360's major fall dashboard update arrives next week, gamers will be able to download a select number of original Xbox games for $15. However, that doesn't mean Microsoft is abandoning backward-compatibility software emulation outright. The publisher today added more than 80 games to the Xbox 360's backward-compatibility list, which brings the total number of original Xbox games playable on Microsoft's current-generation system to more than 450.
One of the largest updates yet, today's addition includes a number of well-reviewed legacy games. Notable additions include Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Colin McRae Rally 2005, ESPN NFL 2K5, and Freedom Fighters. The update also includes a number of annualized sports titles from EA and Take-Two.
See below for a complete list of newly added backward-compatible games. A full list of games is available on Microsoft's official site.

meh, the best Hitz and Blitz games were the 2003 versions, so Pro and League arn't worth it (IMO) 'cause they're totally different games, so go find the 2003 versions if you can, because I think they're well worth it anyhow, this list isn't too impressive, though, I guess I don't really care as I've been pretty satisfied since Panzer Dragoon Orta made the last BC list, and I'm still playing a lot of it
I doubt very much we#ll get more than one more update of this list. Which is why i seriously hope the next one has Stranger's wrath and Beyond Good en Evil on it. there are other games in my XB collection i'd like to see working .. but I'll be happy with another 30 odd games including 5 top titles
Hey - complain that certain games are or aren't on the list (trust me, i'm a collector and my old xbox collection numbers in three digits... there's a number i wish were that aren't - namely otogi and beyond good/evil) - but at least they're still working on BC and not pulling it to sell more 360 games
cool list, i'm still gonna hold on to my old xbox though, there's still games i have that are not backwards compatible and probably never will, otogi and sega gt for example, and even if they were playable i dont think i would like to start over from zero on a game like sega gt, i put in months and months of hard work on that game to achieve many great things that i'm not enjoying so if i started it over on my 360 it would take way too much time to get everything i had and its just not gonna happen unless they figure out a way to transfer data from the old xbox onto the 360 then maybe i'd reconsider, but i still like my xbox too much i dont think i would ever retire it no matter what they come up with, and anyone complaining about the list of backwards compatible games, get over it ok? i bet you havent played a last gen game in months so its not that important the important thing is that you have more than enough games to play on your 360 and with the backward compatible list getting bigger and bigger gaming on the 360 gets that much better.
why nightcaster? who could possibly want to play that now? wheres support for oddworld stranger? and prince of persia 2+3
I hate most of these updates do they seriously need to make things like NFL 2K3, MVP Baseball 2003 BC if 2K5, MVP 2004 are BC or at least make games like The Warriors BC first (imo anyway)
I have one game left that I care to see on this list, and that is rallisport challenge 2. If they are not putting that on because they are making number 3, then that's fine, just let us know. Best racing game ever made for the xbox, and I owned most of em. Still fun today, but I've taken the xbox out of the main game room , and I want to play it on the 360.
Hmm, it's only through good ol' ctrl-F that I discovered in the comments that Escape from Butchers Bay is not going to be BC. Instead they are remaking the game.
these lists show fight night round 3 has been added, although if you look at the official list...its not on there. i dont have that game, i have fn round 2. and im curious as to why in the WORLD did they skip round 2. i like it so much better than round 3. they slowed down the pace too much in round 3. oh i almost forgot, a HUGE TRIPLE WOOOOOOT!!! for adding nfl 2k5. thats THE game ive been waiting to get added.
Why does everyone complain when MS puts out a new BC list. If you don't like the games, don't buy them. MS has said time and time again that they focus on a few more popular games to work on and in the process of getting them working, several other games start to work as well due to simliar coding. Hence the reason you see a lot of the 2K games working now. Yes, some of these games suck, but it's not like MS put any effort into making them compatible, it's just a bonus to the select few that may like them. We'll never see Chronicle of Riddick because it's too complex for BC so they're remaking it. I fear that the game I would like to see on BC, Beyond Good and Evil, will never make it either because it didn't sell very well and I'm guessing isn't easy to convert.
@ Autolycus: If it's supported then yes, it doesn't say it is on this list but this isn't all the games.
@ -HCMF-: It's not really funny since if you think about it by making more title BC they are not forcing you to buy them, it's just a double pronged attack to progress BC support and I am happy MS is actually doing more for the consumer and those who wish to keep there old Xbox titles.
FINALLY!!!!!!!! A REAL pro football game on XBox 360. Welcome back NFL 2K5!!!! Can't wait to play you!
they finally added mvp baseball since the baseball game suck majorly that are out for it now but i was like wait they made an 05 version which was the best wth...nvr had nfl 2k5 but glad to see thats on the list
does anyone else think that the bc issue is funny, meaning it was all but dead and ms stopped carring (like they ever did) untill they decided to make etra cash selling the games - not the list is almost complete - funny huh?
There is a problem many of you don't understand about Chronicles of Riddick it is a huge undertaking and they don't think they could ever get it to run properly through BC. It's both a testament to the developers ability and a short fall of the completely different architecture of the XBOX Vs. 360. The developers used a lot of programming prowess and some great tricks to make Riddick run and look fantastic on the XBOX hardware and it makes it very difficult if not impossible to make it run good enough through emulation on the 360. I was originally disappointed by this as well, but I have since replaced that disappointment with teary-eyed glee at what I have seen so far with the amazing looking 360 remake, which I will definitely be buying.
 FINALLY!!! with all the 2k football games now at my finger tips without paying any outrageous 15 bucks, I'm set far into 2008
They made finally make the game everyone has wanted since day 1 backwards compatible. NFL 2K5. That's all that needs to be said.
To the people saying they're not going to make Chronicles of Riddick BC, please take note of the fact that they did, in fact, make Far Cry Instincts BC, even though Far Cry Instincts Predator contains that game (albeit with way better graphics). I expect they'll do the same for Riddick, wait for the new release to dip in sales, then make the original BC.
More with the BC. Very cool, although there're only a couple I'd be interested in: Blood Omen and Armed and Dangerous. Blood Omen... how I miss the legacy, can't wait for Too Human. Alright excellent, now next time bring us Stranger's Wrath.
