Epic targets Gears of War 3 to sell over 6M - Report

@ironmonk36: While I share the same concern that I will probably go broke from buying aall the epic games coming out this holiday including "Building a new powerful PC just to play Skyrim - The greatest game ever made" and I repeat, "The greatest game ever made" :D, I have to say there is NO WAY I will go without getting this game. Gears of War 3 could arguably be the best game this year (it contends with games like the Witcher 2 - which to me is so epic its insane). Infact, I didnt even trade in Gears 2 just to show how epic the series is. I implore you to reconsider (if you haven't already). And this is coming from someone who actually doesnt play shooters that much compared to RPGs

I'll buy 20 copies of this game to make sure that it sells more than Uncharted 3 OR MW3 !! Oh and by the way now I'm thinking about it Gears 3 has all of the support of Xbox360 gamers and I'll bet on it that it will be the best seller than any game was in 2011 !! FOR US XBOX360 PLAYERS GEARS 3 IS LIKE GOD OF WAR 3 FOR PS3 PLAYERS AND IT WILL HAVE OUR SUPPORT !!

I'm buying it for the multiplayer, the story is good as well but i like the replay value of multiplayer. I have seen Beast Mode and Horde Mode 2.0, and that's what sold it to me, first day buy for me, along with my friends and brothers. I know they are gonna reach the 10mil. mark in about a month.

@AiGeeEn1 I take it you have absolutely no knowledge of PC components. @KaBo0m According to whom was the game pirated so? Also, stop acting like every PC user is invariably a pirate (no better or more appropriate than if I were to treat you as a child for using a console). If epic is so afraid of piracy (which makes little sense), they could simply release it only through steam or something. The fact is, by retreating from PC's solely because of exaggerated piracy, he's made it clear he doesn't care about his fans, just their money.

Six million doesn't seem impossible. The game had a great beta and I hope they sell well over ten million units.

I probably won't get it. I have to worry about buying Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Saints Row 3, AC Revelations, Rage, Dark Souls, and Rayman Revolution. GoW3 just isn't a must buy for me.

Guys please don't bash on me for this but I'm 100% sure GOW 3 will sell 10 million copies.But Uncharted 3 will sell a tad bit more or will get better reviews.But I'm gonna get both games :)

i read from epic forums. gears 3 has about 12hrs total SP and roughly about 90 mins of total cutscene runtime in SP. Its definitely a good change from what we get from the shooter industry lately that generally dont give a f*** about SP. 3-4 hrs longer than gears 2. Epic wants it to be a best game ever for this last chapter of the trilogy. Hopefully it dont disappoint me.

As long as they deliver with that campaign, I'll contribute to that 6 mil. :)

@devrindare Not sure where did u get the info from. by right MW2 pirates are more than Blops. i found huge amount of server tools for MW2 than blops Anyway COD:blops arent the most to be pirate. Not sure now, but i read that crysis1 was the most roughly about 3 mil that was 1 yr after released, and crytek was making a big fuzz about it. Pirates claim to use it for 'showing off' their rig, however there are hundreds of private servers with pirate copies.

@y3ivan agreed to you, mostly pirated copies used by them who don't want to use online multiplayer and lan multiplayer, but want to play single mission & split-screen multiplayer. Like Call of duty: black ops is one of the most pirated games especially in PC & XBOX360

@devrindare apparently developers love to blame piracy for poor sales, eventhough their game scored poorly.. amrite? Not sure how does piracy came about in this thread. Anyway, Epic games decided to leave PC gamers due to overwhelming support on xbox community and some ties with MS to make it a reason to love ur xbox and it is not because of piracy. i actually doubt piracy for gears was high. Regarding to piracy on gear of war 3, i will doubt there will be any for the next 1yr or so. MS just blew millions on counter piracy using xgd3 and dashboard update.

@y3ivan As you my friend got all the statistics how piracy on the rise. everybody know that a game launches today whether for any port or consoles, tomorrow you can found a pirated copy of it. I am not blaming to you my friend, only speaking in general. I want to say that it is pointless to blame PC platform for piracy. Now this game Gears of War 3 exclusive for Xbox360, I will guaranty everybody that from the day of its launch, next day you find a pirated copy of it in the internet. I loved Gears 1 and 2 and played the hell out of horde mode, but honestly, I'm kinda tired of hearing about the Gears 3. Seems like every time I turn around they're ramming Gears or "Cliffy B." down our throats.

"I can only pray and hope [that we sell 10 million units]." Cliff, that really sounds douchey when you invoke prayer in some kind of pathetic attempt at more excessive wealth. Don't worry big boy, you'll be getting plenty of cash to spend regardless.

@devrindare PS3 JB games are on the rise, in case for killzone 3. torrent sites report there has been about 1.5mil pirate copies were distributed before launch. So much so as Alan wake with 1.5mil Anyway PC platform are the easiest to pirate compare to console, while console has lots of restriction.

I don't understand why people continually saying that PC platform gives loss to the developers if they make PC platform games. I again and again saying that to those, go and check the internet where you find pirated console games especially the XBOX360 games cause PS3 games are not easy to crack.

GEARS 3 easily sell 6-8 millioms worldwide

@Drakkengoth MS is not that stupid to give gears to pc, it will just spoilt the fanbase. The case of the first gears of war which was on xbox360 and pc, the gears community was split into 2, EPIC had to control 2 platforms, that in MS's rulebook, is waste of resources.

Not a big GOW fan, but sounds like other formats want this game desperatly, specially PS3 owners if they want it on their console. PC owners maybe even worse cause u know it can be on there, xbox exclusives dont include PC, but u all know the piracy issue is y they dont put it on the PC too much to do with money, yes it would be nice but they dont. So stop moaning like little girls, and PS3 owners stop dribbling over an XBOX 360 exclusive, just cause the GT was a half finished load of BS!!!!

Konviktion :: Well think of it this way..if you can afford a 1000 dollar CPU or a 500 Dollar GPU..then u can EAZILY spend 300 dollars on a XBOX 360.

its kinda obvious it could reach 6mil, or more. MS just killed all the other core exclusives this year, and core gamers only had gears or forza for the year

@KaBo0m Poor fanboy....You wont see it on your console. Period. Gears wouldnt be where it is if it wasnt for 360, for you to say "its being held back" clearly shows that you know nothing of the Xbox or the Gears series itself.

Is it just me or does Cliff Bleszinksi sound a bit like an overly confident douche? Especially when he says in response to how many retail sales there would be- "Definitely over 6 million, obviously".

I'm pretty sure this game will sell over 6M, if you look at highly expected games, GT5 for the PS3 for example sold 5.5 million in less then 2 weeks, you can expect Gears 3 to do something similar.

@KaBo0m We all pirated it and none one supported?? That piracy card excuse they used to keep it exclusive on Xbox 360. Not our fault that it was released only as retail and a GFWL c'mon GFWL!!??? Do you really expect a lot of PC Gamers to use that!? If I recall 1/3 of Gears of War players on Xbox 360 were using used copies. Microsoft learned better since they released Fable 3 on steam and other digital stores cause they know that know one wants to use their service.

The game looks awesome, i just can't wait for more. Epic story and a great multiplayer with dedicated server. It couldn't wish for more.This is gonna be the best September ever.

no dout gears is an awesome franchise but i dont know, the game bores me fast. maybe because all the fighting starts with the same cover mechanic and ends with it, all the fighting is carried out this way, you popping ur head up firing a 1000 bullets into an enemy before they go down then you pop back down to recover. But the idea, the darkness, and story i really like. shame....
