Electronic Arts announces Shox
EA Sports Big expands into rally racing.
Electronic Arts announced Shox for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube today. The game is an off-road rally car racer that is being developed by EA UK's Chertsey studio. Shox is set to feature 24 licensed vehicles from companies such as Audi, BMW, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Lancia, and Ford. Races will consist of three-lap circuits in a variety of environments including snow, desert, and jungle tracks against six competing cars. Each track will feature "shox zones" where players will be awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals based on their driving skills. Players who are able to earn gold medals in all the zones on a single track will unlock a new circuit. Players will also be able to put their own cars up as collateral in the game's wagering mode in order to win more selectable cars. Finally, the game will support up to four players in a split-screen multiplayer mode.
Shox is currently slated to ship this fall for both platforms. Check out screenshots of the PlayStation 2 version of game here .
