CFO Blake Jorgensen says the opportunity to make a new Battlefront game is "very exciting"; NBA Live 14 confirmed for next-gen; EA will publish current-gen games through 2017.
Electronic Arts has teased that one of its multiple in-development Star Wars titles is an all-new Battlefront game. Speaking today during the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference, CFO Blake Jorgensen offered the hint.
"The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting."
Star Wars: Battlefront III, despite never actually being announced, was reportedly 99 percent complete, though this claim was contested.
Jorgensen further explained that its new Star Wars games stand to benefit from the marketing potential at Disney, a company that owns many consumer-focused enterprises like amusement parks, film studios, cruise lines, and media outlets.
He also reiterated that EA's new Star Wars games will not be based specifically on any of the upcoming Star Wars films, though they may be released near them to leverage the marketing opportunity.
"These aren't movie games, per se; these are stand-alone games," Jorgensen said. "But obviously they would come out near the movies and be able to tailgate off of some of the buzz that will be created around the new Star Wars movies."
Elsewhere during the presentation, Jorgensen confirmed that NBA Live 14 will be released on next-generation platforms and that EA will continue to publish games for current-generation consoles through at least 2017.

wen i say midify the sequel i mean not transform it on cod but a bit of customisation on caracter won't be bad
1 Like So... um. Am I the only one here that liked playing Battlefront alone? Maybe it's because I had the game on PS2, but I always played it alone or with a few friends in split-screen, not online. I'm afraid I won't have that option anymore now that EA is making it.
Please let it be a new Battlefront game would be fantastic funny thing I was playing the first one last night still love that game... Also ranked as one of the best series "my opinion" The Jedi Knight series story was amazing and game play just added to it I'd love to see that redone or even a new direction...

2 Like I'm all for extended development periods, but I'm pretty sure you don't need to stategically release these games with the movies for the "marketing opportunity". In fact, releasing them with the movies makes people a lot more skeptical about your games. Anyone interested already knows about it. The slightest bit of ad-space to get to the people who live under a rock and you're golden, whenever you decide to release it.

I really can't believe that this is happening, lol. It was so sudden...im at the moment in a boring class, kinda tired, browsing randomly Gamespot on my notebook. And then i see this..LOL!!! You guys dont know for how much time i have been waiting for this. I don't care if its EA doing, becouse i think they wont develop, they will just publish, like it was with BF2. Well, the company that did the unique gem that was BF2 is already dead, but we hopefully can see another good company to develop the game that everyone was waiting.

2 Like I think they will screw it up, if not DRM and micro transactions will. I guess I will be moving to indie games... big companies are a major dissapointment (with a few exceptions).
@S0ulReav3r They will screw it up and then they'll cancel it with no regrets. It's never as good as it could have been for us players and Star Wars. I'm keeping my expectations to the absolute zero until E3 or whenever they reveal gameplay. I just cannot trust EA or Disney. As we've seen, they're quick to cancel gems like Star Wars 1313.
I hope the powers that be will also invest in a new Star Wars RPG in a different time than the old republic, preferably after RotJ, and that this Battlefront proves successful. I'm not hyped though.
Nooooo not EA! I mean, I'm happy there's a battlefront 3 but I don't want to pay extra money just so i can play as an exclusive hero...
@LeonRedfield334 this and IGN is reporting that EA will be showing some starwars stuff at E3. We might get 1313 after all

2 Like They will screw them up. But at least they will be done and decent, despite having a bunch of bugs and costing way more than they should. But please make a republic commando 2. WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO SEV!!! And a star wars 1st person shooter that can compete with halo, cod, battlefield(erm...well...i think that's starting to look like a monopoly but still).
Hopefully DICE gets it. LucasArts kept trying to do a SW Battlefield game and missed it by about 20%. Now maybe we'll get what we really want. If DICE does make it, don't make us wait until Level 100 for the lightsaber...

O M G this is great news as long as it's made.. If it's crap we can all move along but if it's not we are in for an awesome treat!
Star Wars Battle Front 3 was 99% finished. Or so the legend goes. EA is going to updated and release it? or Another Star Wars Battle Front Game from scratch?

Star Wars games made independently of the movies have always been the best (KotoR, Battlefront, Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games) and I hope EA incorporates that knowledge into its decision making.
@Roland3710 I agree with you, but i dont think BF 3 will be like that. BF 2 came in the same year that Episode III was launched(i dont remember the exact dates) and it didnt affect the game. I think there will be a game exclusively for the movie, and BF 3 is in another castello. However, they will probably launch near the movie, becouse CASH CASH CASH ;D
