EA tabs Victory for baseball tracks

By Jim Welte

MVP 06 NCAA Baseball will include 10 songs from Chicago-based indie rock label Victory Records.

The ping of the aluminum bat in MVP 06 NCAA Baseball will be accompanied by hard-rock tracks from one of the most successful independent record labels in the game, Electronic Arts said today.

The game maker inked a licensing deal with Chicago-based Victory Records to use 10 songs as the game's soundtrack, including tracks from emerging bands like Hawthorne Heights, Aiden, and Silverstein.

Hawthorne Heights is set to drop its new album, This Is Who We Are, sometime next month. The CD's title track will grace the game's soundtrack.

Gamers who buy the game through EA's prepurchase program will get a free sampler CD with more than 20 songs from Victory Records, including nearly all of the tracks featured in the game. The CDs are already available at retail outlets like EB and GameStop; the game is set for release in spring 2006.

I like some of the stuff from "Victory" although the last game I thought I would hear it in would be a baseball product.

Come on! Can't someone get "Centerfield" on their soundtracks? Makes perfect sense!

Will Streetlight Manifesto or Catch 22 be on the soundtrack?

Wow. I sincerely hope that the Earth Crisis song 'Firestorm' makes it on the soundtrack. Then this would be the best baseball game ever. Violence against violence, let the roundups begin. A firestorm to purify...
