This is the full email I received from ORIGIN this morning, a really sad story indeed and should be put on the frontpage of any gameserver really as it shows the ignorance of those people!!!!
Hi Johann,
Thanks for getting back to me with your concerns. I also appreciate the information on the numbers you found. Where was the e-mail you found listed? Again, we want to make sure you and others are getting the correct information when trying to reach out support. As you mentioned, there is a "catch-22" of sorts in that you need to log in to our help site to contact us, but if you lost your account you can't do that (the process of which we are looking at to help ease the process for both us and those contacting about hacked accounts). So, ensuring the other information that is out there is correct is another top priority. As for the rumored Origin hack, we still have no reason to believe such a compromise occurred. I agree that it would be good move in our customer relationship to admit if something like that occurred and keep our users up to date, however we cannot admit to something that didn't happen. As mentioned before, though, we take issues like this seriously and so we are continuing to double-check everything to verify nothing happened. That doesn't mean we blame you for the issue, and I apologize if that seemed to be what I was implying. I don't think you are at fault at all, and it definitely sounds like you are doing what you should to keep your accounts secure. All I meant to say is that a hacker somehow got a hold of your information and used to to compromise your account. I hope that clarifies the matter a little better and again I apologize for any misunderstanding. If you have any lingering questions or concerns over the issue please don't hesitate to let me know. Other than that, I hope you had a great weekend! Sincerely, Kyle Cooper World Wide Customer Experience | Executive Relations T: 512.583.6152 | E: kcooper@ea.com
