EA Kicks Off FIFA Soccer 2005
Press Release
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Tuesday, October 12, 2004 Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that FIFA Soccer 2005 has shipped to retailers. Developed under the EA SPORTS brand, FIFA Soccer 2005 introduces First Touch Control, allowing greater freedom of movement during gameplay. Online gamers will enjoy enhanced features on the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and, for the first time, Xbox Live support.
A quality first touchintrinsic to the sport itselfis the essential trait that separates good players from great players on the soccer pitch. With the all-new First Touch Control, users can move the right analog stick to control flicks, traps, and knock-ons. An all-new animation system reacts to every button press with authentic responsiveness, directly translating to the speed and vision of the world's greatest players. With new in-game camera angles, smooth cut sequences for replays, and improved contrast and lighting for players and stadiums, FIFA Soccer 2005 has the look and feel of an authentic television broadcast experience. The FIFA Soccer franchise, celebrating its 11th season this year, introduces the entire 18-team Mexican League for the first time to the game.
With more than 350 official team and league licenses from around the world, more than 10,000 officially licensed players, an enhanced Career Mode, and EA SPORTS Online play*, FIFA Soccer 2005 is the only complete, authentic, and intelligent soccer experience.
The game's launch also sets the stage for the first FIFA Interactive World Cup, a worldwide tournament celebrating FIFA Soccer 2005. North American consumers can test their skills in New York City on October 30th for a chance to compete in Switzerland and stand side by side with the FIFA player of the year. Hosted by FIFA, Xbox, and EA SPORTS, the FIFA Interactive World Cup kicks off October 23rd in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Developed by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C., FIFA Soccer 2005 is available for the PlayStation2 console, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, PC and Game Boy Advance. A mobile phone version of the game is coming soon. The game is rated "E" (Everyone) with by the ESRB. More information can be found on the game's official website at www.fifasoccer05.com.
